How does attack speed work?
How much does 100 attack speed (for example) increase your attacks per second by?
the formula for attacks/second is afaik
BAT/(AS/100)
where BAT is your base attack time, usually 1.7 seconds.
you start with 100 attack speed, so the formula will give 1.7 seconds at the start, for most heroes.
therefore, doubling attack speed will double your dps, by halving your attack time
however, once you have 200 AS, you need to add another 200 AS to double your damage.

currently there is no way to do something like that yet but i believe they will put it in sooner or later

Why would S2 make killing mega creeps worth less xp & gold? That seems backwards and counterproductive to good gameplay. Just looks like the snowball is getting even bigger without much reason, making it a point of no return.

Isn't that the whole point..? To give the enemy more advantadge than ever the sooner they rax them and when 1 does go down in the first place any way.

All stats will be reset upon release. Also all historical data of previous matches, including replays, will be purged. SMR and PSR (the ratings used for match making and public games) will be compressed, bringing all accounts closer to 1500 as we feel this will positively impact gameplay and team balances post release.

After I died twice my entire team just said I fed her and she ganked everybody else lol.stay at full health so she can't towerdive you. try to keep the creeps close to your ramp so you can towerhug. use a mana battery. if all else fails, spend 400 on magic armour.
dunno about runes though. your nuke is a root so it stops her blink, but I'm pretty sure she still has better rune control than you. make sure to keep wards up I guess, so your sidelanes don't have a nasty surprise.

Can somebody explain to me what bottling a rune is? I've seen people pick up runes and sue them later, which I presume bottling it is, but how do you do it?

i got a hugh problem since the new patch, i am getting a so called "Delay/freeze Lag".
when i am moving and clicking around my hero, it can take 2-3 seconds for the Hero to respond to my commands, am i the only one with the problem or is it more out there having it?

How long do the runes last?
First, buy a bottle. When the bottle is empty, you can select it, then target a rune, thereby putting the rune in the bottle. It stays there for 2 minutes, at which point it will automatically be used. Of course you can always press bottle to use it before then.
When you use it, your bottle magically becomes full again.

I was at first playing Keeper with Nome's as one of my first items, but I'm not sure that's such a good idea anymore.
I had an idea of keeping a Ring of the Teacher and rushing towards a manatube then post haste, followed by restoration stone and other such luxuries, but I have no idea if that's even remotely viable. Would someone mind giving some feedback?

Many people will tell you to rush a resto stone on Keeper. I don't believe in this.
I think you should get Astrolabe, Barrier Idol, Tablet of Command, (Puzzlebox)- Support items. After you've finished maybe 2/4, then start working on your resto stone. Wards are important (In conjunction with your eye wards, especially if they're cutting them down, maybe not so much if they aren't)

You can- you simply need to find the match ID of the game you want to watch and type it in at the bottom of the screen. Once there you can download the replay.

The crits stack (even madmans Gash and Swiftblades Way of the Sword) but they stack weirdly and it makes it unfavourable. Scout's would be the same, just get Shieldbreaker/Runed Axe and have done with it.

5. Criticals:
Works with diminishing returns.
When multiple Criticals are made on the same attack, the source with the highest critical mulitplier takes precedence.
Criticals are capable of multiplying the damage from a couple of sources that don't directly affect your listed attack damage:
Righteous Strike (Jeraziah)
Backstab (Night Hound)
Pounce (Night Hound)
Assassin's Shroud
riftshards will work with all of puppet masters attacks except the ones that have wipe lash. The reason for this is because before wipe lash could proc rift shards basically giving you a crit that crit and it was way to much damage to be balanced.

For TB's passive which does 11% total life @ lvl 4. I don't know the range b/c the animation is hard to see. it's possibly TB's best skill and I want to use it effectively. How far is 1000 range? How can I learn more about the range system in Hon?

the manabattery doesnt help alot cause they usually chain no more than 5 skills, and the first combo usually devastates us too much. Slither/Sb for example, slither will continuously harass with autoattack whilst sb is last hitting and when we get too close, or when our creeps are too far (we are legion top lane) sb jumps into the forest and just waits for slither to initiate with spray, then he rapes us with ballerina-skill. This way we get no stacks to our manabattery/psupply
Vindi i can see as a possibility, but hes so insanely fragile.
Other than that an SR/Acc would be viable no?

if u don't have the picks to go up the best item counter is manabattery
vindi is always a strong pick in these combos, is doesn't matter his hp, if u know what ur doing he'll own the lane

Never double melee lane. Ever. One range person, any ranged person, could have dismantled his tower skipping shenanigans. If your mid helped, he would have been far behind the other mid.

what drasha said, but the problem u most likely have here is the fact that it requires 2.5/2/1.5 seconds before u actually become invis (without atking/using item/skill) for u to invis right after you cast it so if ur vs a lot of stun u shouldn't rely on it to escape

He's a dev hero so don't get too into him, he might change again.
His grapple is no longer vector based, if you read changelogs you'd notice they re-did his skills.

actually I think I know what's wrong
ok, there is a system where if u only played a few games, the ok leaver %age lvl to join matchmaking is higher
e.g. I played 10 games, d/ced from 5 but S2 made it so in my first 10 games the leaver %age to be allowed to play a matchmaking game is 50% (they expect u to leave some when ur new)
if I play 11 games the ratio might be changed to 40%, which would make me a leaver (5/11 is over 40% for sure)
idk where it displays this but it was in the 1.x.xx version....

Located in your saved replays, go to watch a replay top left of the bar while logged in, they're all there.
Good luck remembereing who/what was in it and why you wanted to watch it if you have multiple replays.

Then you pick a ranged in the hero picking screen.
There should be absolutely no reason why you would pick a melee hero when you are scoping out the lanes. You cannot beat a tower skipping legionaire without completely hindering your team with a double melee lane.
The absolute only reason why I would see you picking another melee is if your hero pool in -sd looked like Blacksmith, Pharaoh, Nighthound. Even then, your teammates have to have a ranged, because blacksmith is the only melee int

Unfortunately I am not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure you cannot mana drain. Sorry.
But for the second, you want burst damage and vision. Burst damage, like Pebbles/pyro or someone to take advantage of Fayde's fragility, and vision so she can't slip away. Map awareness is key when dealing with Fayde.

Im starting to love this specific thread for fast answers, especially from pk_thunder (L) whom I can acknowledge as good advice, so here is another
Why is it I see so much less of Puppet Master recently? Has he lost his potential as a decent carry due to the attack modifier on WH, reducing his ability to rapeface while never dying and stacking continously? He is an extremely solid laner, solo mid or even solo side lane if you choose to double lane mid or trilane the other side or someones jungles. Even against 2 opponents I think he could get an OK farm, depends on the heroes ofc because he is still relatively squishy with 2 soft CCs. His whiplash harass against a single hero is extremely strong nonetheless. I always consider him a pure mid hero, but I've been able to play some nice solo side lanes due to abusing his CC and harassing effectively. Any single fights in the forest are generally dominated as of 6 due to the massive damage his ultimate produces, and it provides a target for puppet show, meaning CC and they die faster.
Is it just me or is the meta-game shifting away from him? Is his lategame alot weaker nowadays due to all the offensive lanes? Personally I have pulled off some sick farms (in public however so it is biased) on mid lane, and been able to keep a solid farm afterwards.
My playstyle with him is also generally very lane-based farming, unless I have my ultimate ready I dont often battle the other mid hero for the rune (say against an SS or hag). I prefer just completely outlast hitting them for all of early game, this does result in my team not receiving as much ganks from me though, however if I choose to get the rune and am successful I often gank the lane nearest (unless heavily warded). Is my playstyle just wrong, should I be more gank-oriented?

I always consider him a pure mid hero, but I've been able to play some nice solo side lanes due to abusing his CC and harassing effectively. Any single fights in the forest are generally dominated as of 6 due to the massive damage his ultimate produces, and it provides a target for puppet show, meaning CC and they die faster.
Is it just me or is the meta-game shifting away from him? Is his lategame alot weaker nowadays due to all the offensive lanes? Personally I have pulled off some sick farms (in public however so it is biased) on mid lane, and been able to keep a solid farm afterwards.
My playstyle with him is also generally very lane-based farming, unless I have my ultimate ready I dont often battle the other mid hero for the rune (say against an SS or hag). I prefer just completely outlast hitting them for all of early game, this does result in my team not receiving as much ganks from me though, however if I choose to get the rune and am successful I often gank the lane nearest (unless heavily warded). Is my playstyle just wrong, should I be more gank-oriented?

well to answer ur question let's look at the current "metagame":
PUSH PUSH PUSH
and does puppet have any good pushing abilities? no
he's a carry-ganker and with the harkons nerf (he was ok in competitive play before, note the "ok") it just makes him bad because he doesn't really have AOE and the only item that shines on this hero is harkons, and lifesteal is a need for any carry.
there's also the fact of his pseudo-disables mainly cus they "disable" but don't really at the same time, which was fine with the dmg he outputted and everything but overall it's more of a negative than a positive.
also puppet master needs whispering for the survivability and lifesteal but he need the harkons for dmg (a savage mace can do but harkons is just that much better on an int carry) so there's really no good builds for him
basically puppet master is just like a "forgotten" hero. I mean like the patches have just made him bad and it almost seems like S2 has completely forgot about him (like what zeph was like pre-buff).
I haven't been watching too many pro games lately so idk who they use but it seems :fors:/:valk:/:corr: have disappeared too...

I don't want to be insulting here, but pk_thunder tends to read things and absorb them as fact. Which is fine for basic info on the game, but leaves him out of date on things like trends in competitive play. You'll see very few pushers this week, Engineer is picked but doesn't push, he ganks and carries with Thunderclaw, Pollywog Priest is now balanced, Slither is a lot worse at pushing, so only Defiler+Engi teams make strong "push push push strats", with occasionally the rare triple-healer draft making strong midgame pushes because lol triheal.
This is due to several key nerfs, such as Pollywog's ultimate cooldown making sense again (actually has to choose whether to use it in a fight or at a tower), Slither wards have been raped, and notably the main aoe armour items, Nome's Wisdom and Plated Greaves, getting nerfed such that they are no longer autoincludes in every team. Also, Accursed is still permabanned which makes it harder to make an early push/teamfight team succeed.
Teams still push and fights are happening early, but it's much more about getting your semicarry fed and winning teamfights than it is about facerolling towers as it was a few weeks ago.
Heroes like Arachna are getting picked again, because they fit the current style. (And possibly because load/5 made it cool.) yeah with finals hitting me in the head u'd expect me to go watch honcast right? (aka yes, I have not seen honcast for quite some time actually). I was actually lucky nuff to have as much time as I did this weekend to get some games in but for the rest of the week this is probably one of my last posts...

MQ has been picked a nonzero amount of times - for instance, Empire ran her in a trilane with Glacius and Andromeda, up against a trilane of Plague/Hellbringer/Pestilence (i think it was pestilence)
haven't seen her win anything yet but apparently h4nn1 picked her and won so I guess go look that up.

Basically, the value of the item is based on the charges. If you don't like that, make a topic in balance or suggestions.

Witch Slayer disagrees. AFAIK it's the only thing anyway, nothing you can buy steals mana. Mana drain is still powerful though, especially with images.

With Fayde, extra precautions should be taken to place blue wards in the lane / key areas she will approach from.
And for skill build with fayde, I like bottle, steamboots, and rushing Puzzlebox, no codex. It's pretty similar item in burst damage if you can properly use the minions, and the upgrades is much more useful. If I would get codex, I think I would only get level 1 and start on my Puzzlebox =)
And on most heroes I'll generally finish Steamboots before big item since it gives you cheap survivability.

they do but not linearly (like if they blocked for 50% it'd be like 50% of 50%, so 75% block chance, but those aren't the numbers)
sometimes 2 buckers can be used to effectively increase ur armor for jungling (there was a graph that showed that a 40 dmg block on creeps that attacked you for like 60ish gave about an equivalent of 90 armor)
this only works for hardcore jungling heroes like :legi:

HotBL doesn't stack with buckers (I think), instead HotBL procs by itself because it has a higher proc %
HotBL also has a 70% block chance

Helm of the Black Legion needs to be farmed...you can start the game with two Iron Bucklers. Feel free to sell one of them when you make your HotBL, you won't need the other shield anymore.

Two Bucklers do not block 40 damage. Having additional bucklers increases the chance to block 20 damage, not the number of damage blocked from any single hit.

could be a glitch but in the next patch it doesn't go off automatically

APM doesnt really mean anything, it means how much u spam click in the game, some heroes you get huge APM, while controlling more then one thing , etc ophelia... maybe armadon could give an increase, but hammer? all you do is click r and your done, i dont see how that increases APM more..

shift + the skill
say I want to use skill "q" right after "w" after item "alt + e"
I would do:
q -> w + shift -> shift + alt + e
it's that simple
(and having andro swap and pk back as a skill queue is inefficient because of the backswing of the animation, so it's much easier to do it urself manually)

PSR requires that you play about 1k games to be accurate
otherwise it can be misleading

I'm thinking of a new witchslayer build where you max stun, miniaturization, ulti, and stats first.
Item build would be marchers->(Bottle)-> hellflower-> steamboots/ghostmarchers->frostwolf
He would be an early game ganker with late game anti-carry potential. The hellflower would be another huge disable to stop blinkers/ invis heroes along with supplying him with all the mana regeneration/ extra damage he needs. Bottle would also help, especially if he mids. The buildup to Frostwolf will make him beefy along with stats and once obtain, all of his spells now have an extra disable along with hellflower if it works with it.
Sounds pretty sick I think if it works.

I have tested it on practice mode and witch slayer does debuff from frostwolf does transfer over iff you target him as the target and not just the aoe

After rethinking, the only part that really matters is if it works on hellflower or codex. A 900+ range silence/dmg + slow would be pretty sick if just for initiating. It wouldn't matter too much on his stun or mini disable because he will auto-atk to keep the debuff on and the disable duration is almost the same as the debuff.

are you saying that if I click someone (say :deme:) with :glac: AOE, would some else (say :soulr:) have the debuff too?

if I use witchslayer's stun and I click on a hero and it hits 2 it only procs on the one I aim for (like actually clicked on)

2. tab (this transfers your view to bird)
3. Ctrl + 2 (this sets bird to group two)
4. tab (this transfers your view to cat)
5. Ctrl + 1 (puts cat in group 1), tab shift +1 (puts Tundra in group 1)

because there are so many other heroes better then legionnaire. He don't have any special abilites that makes him worth his pick compared to others. He has no stun ability other then "taunt" which dont stun at all, and his focus is single targets, much like rampage.
He is a carry/initiator but legionnaire doesn't scale into lategame. Thats why his power will decrease drastically compared to other carries. This is his biggest weakness and the reason he is rarely seen these days.

debuffs appear above your hero portrait by default. Debuffs with a blue border can not be dispelled by any means. Debuffs with a green border can be dispelled.
What is queueing spells and how do I do it?
When you queue spells they will be used one after the other (in the order you queued them in) as fast as is possible. The advantage of this is you can set something to go off right after a channel ends. To queue, hold shift and press the spells button.

to add to benny's point, it's considered a buff with the +80% base dmg compared to only 10 magic dmg and a silence (if u have a shrunken head u'll probably benefit from the buff a ton...)

i keep stucking in bad teams, and many phsycological guides on how winning pubs seems dont affect anymore. anymore motivational hint / tips / guide for how picking right teammates in pubs? dont ask me to play with buddies; i have buddies, but sometimes, we have different times to play. the winning streak i get is usually when i play with people i know. but any other hint for winning pubs with total strangers?
they keep sucking.

u cast a spell costing 400 mana (huge manacost), you will be healed for 100 hp (25% of manacost)
now let's say u have 400/400 hp (full hp)
u cast the same spell with costing 400 mana, you now gain a shield (basically extra HP) worth 100 hp cus it's 25% of 400 mana. this will be gone after 5 seconds.
finally, let's say you have 350/400 hp
u now again cast that spell costing 400 mana, healing u to full hp with a 50 hp sheild cus 350 + 100 = 450, and because that's over ur max HP you have a 50 HP shield (450 hphealed - 400 hpmax = full hp with a 50 hp shield)

actually the best way is probably for u to jump in with pk first, stun, then behemoth jumps in RIGHT after with his ult and then tdl ults and u pick off who's left
if u really didn't want to u can get elec to initiate with a grab and then clusterf*ck them asap so elec doesn't die
ur problem is the fact that u don't have portal key, which is core on pesti (probably even more so with this team cus u have good initiation)

:ShrunkenHead: gives decent dmg for str heroes
:BehemothsHeart: gives nice +str cus of the axe of malph
:FrostwolfsSkull: is good too (tho it's better for an agi hero)
:SymbolOfRage: gives decent +str also cus of axe of malph
:Steamboots: are ur boots if u need all +str that u can get (STR steamboots)

I'm just wondering what the best conditions for ganking on a semi-carry style hero in higher levels of play are. In the 1500 bracket or so I found I could easily just roam around, get double kills and generally wreck stuff. However I found that at higher levels people are a tad more observant and will back when you go down there, wasting your time.
Pretty much what I do currently is just try and get free farm mid and at least try and finish my full boots (by 5-7 mins or so) before ganking often. While I found I could get away with ganking on red boots in a low level pub at the higher level it feels like I need that extra MS so I don't screw over myself if they end up backing.
Any thoughts? As I get up in the higher PSR bracket I feel like I need to start playing semi-carry's again and I'm a bit rusty at them. For the most part I got up to 1700 just by playing :elec::thun::chip: and such.

I'm in the process of finding the perfect mixture. What I've found is that:
Waiting for your full boots takes way too long. You're looking at Power Supply, Bottle, and Upgraded boots- This is ~2kg, which is way too late in the game unless you got bloodlust.
I would say- Start ganking as soon as you have a bottle, normal boots, power supply, and you have the rune.
Better yet, get two solos and have a teammate roam.

I play with a friend who usually plays carries and I exclusively play support. Last game he complains that I'm too passive and I need to harass more. I'm andromeda he's magebane, and we're up against tort/pesti.
if I auto attack pesti when he runs up to last hit (400 range on andromeda) the creeps instantly turn on me, I get double stunned and then I die. Isn't it right to play passive in a double stun lane when I don't have full auto attack range?
or how am I supposed to harass as say demented shaman in a double ranged lane? if I auto attack one hero, I get auto attacked once by both of them

Andromeda is a terrible babysitter because of her poor range. Especially against a double stun lane, you're probably not going to win that. So that's really your answer in that situation. Yeah, you probably could've harassed better than you did, but you lost that one in the picking stage.
As a DShaman versus dual range, you need to realize that there's two ways to babysit:
1. Harass the hell out of your opponents and make them unable to initiate on you and your lane partner.
2. Don't die, and don't let your lanemate die.
DShaman is a great babysitter because he can do both. Slither and Vindicator, for example, can only do the first. If you're against a dual ranged lane, unless your opponents are terrible, you're generally going to get harassed hard and default to #2. What this means is that you're going to need to pull creeps. A lot. If your neutral creeps are warded, counter ward and let your carry start pulling. Also, pull the opponent's lane creeps towards your tower (by attacking an enemy hero and then running) and hope that your carry knows how to last hit well. This will make the creep waves fight "backwards" which makes it MUCH easier for melee heroes but doesn't really affect ranged heroes. Also, if your opponents have to walk past your creeps to attack your lane-mate, they're taking creep damage. This also sets up offensive heal opportunities for you.

Another question for you guys here. I generally play with 2 other friends. For the most part I am our solo mid player (they've tried but usually get beaten in a lane).
The problem is that in the past week we've sort of gotten our **** together and have gone up a lot of PSR. We've started to drop a bit again though (from 1715 - 1668 atm for me) and I really don't want my psr to tank again.
What I'm wondering is what 3 man combo would be most potent in a higher level pub. Currently I'm really focused on just playing a strong semi carry and just trying to get a strong farm mid. However what I'm wondering is what the other two should play. Should we go for gankers? Strong lanes? Team fight heroes?
I'll be honest though and say that I generally do win mid when I'm there and the issue, if we have one, is more of the transition to mid-late game and trying to pretty much lift the teams weight on your shoulders.
Also I'll mention that I'm trying to take the most "difficult" role just because the other two haven't been playing as long as I have. (I've been playing for like 8 months, the other two for like 4-5 months maybe).

it depends really
if this is a close to equal lvl ur best bet is to have a 1 ganker, a baby sitter, and 1 semi-carry/carry. I'd say like :fors: mid with :glac:/:slit: and :swif: bot. this is a gank oriented lineup (:swif: is very important, he's a ganking CARRY) that is effective because it puts the enemy team down (should be easier than with pubs cus u probably know them well nuff and can work together better) and hopefully have swift farm.
u can do one of those "instagib" strat based on initiation, like :souls::temp: or :engi::plag: or :behe::engi:. third person should probably a ganker cus you want to hit them hard and early so they can be lvl 12 while ur lvl 10.
tbh it's the tryhard lanes that count, TRYHARD to get good heroes/lanes.

I'd say Ganker mid / Strong top solo / Roamer.
Pharaoh / Electrician / Corrupted Disciple / Hag solo mid.
Valkyrie / FA / Corrupted Disciple solo top
Andromeda / Magmus roam
This covers your bases. If any of you are losing the lane, Andromeda roams in, stuns someone, and they're foreverly cautious. We can assume you win your lane- You can start ganking too after you get your ganking core. Best part is, You as pharaoh can tp in and get kills that no other hero could have in the entire game with your ult and booger.
While you and andromeda gank like mad, Top will be getting farmed.

I'd suggest Defiler solo mid with Accursed+Soul Reaper in your offensive lane. The three synergize incredibly well in teamfights and give you two very strong lanes. This makes getting kills for the other team hard as hell if you win your lanes. Also, it lets your two randoms lane defensively so they're less likely to cost you the game.
Another thing that could work would be a ganker/carry mid like CD, Puppet, or Arachna and then a strong double stun lane like Magmus/Pyro bottom. Finally, you could grab a Tempest, Ophelia, or Warbeast and then have 2 solo, if that's comfortable.

I like fayde mid with a hellbringer and accu bot, mainly cus they're not banned or anything...If they're banned, you can adjust. Accursed isn't anywhere near as frequent of a ban anymore and SR/Defiler are rare as well. Thanks for contributing nothing to the discussion, though.

anyways u hold shift to queue up stuff, like so I wanna use skill q followed by skill w and followed by item e
I'd put in:
shift + q -> shift + w -> shift + alt + e
some skills u don't want to queue because of the long backswing (like andro's ult and then a pk, best to do it manually)

1) splash dmg is in a radius 225
2) splash dmg depends on how hard you hit. if I have a hatchet and I'm hitting say 100 with it then all the creeps around me will get hit with 40. If I am hitting a hero for 50 (with hatchet) then all the creeps will get dealt 40% of that, which is 20. the hatchet shouldn't have an effect on the splash because it all depends on the main target (should double check this)

I think he means, if you hit the main target(which is a creep) with a hatchet, will te hero behind that creep get more dmg?
In that case, yes, the main target gets more dmg of the hatchet, so will the hero get more dmg of the splash then without a hatchet.

ik, and it should, because it transfers 40% of the dmg dealt to the creep (it's pretty much like saw tDL's self buff, the hatchet that is, and is just extra dmg for ur autoattack, but only on creeps) so it's basically like:
(dmg u do + hatchet effects on creeps) x .4 = splash dmg
(not 100% sure on this, best wait for elementuser or mech forums, which should have a quick "AAQ" thread too...)

He's really, really, really good.
1% damage by staying alive in a team fight is nothing to laugh at. Couple that with a 200 damage heal / nuke every 6 seconds, and an instakill move + stun, he's pretty good in every lineup.
Not only that, but he can also ancient at level 5 / 7 fairly easily due to his aura.

tested in practice mode, it does not block the jav and the jav is not a single target skill (it doesn't give info when u hover over heroes, only lights up)

it's not single target just like chipper's rockets (and glac's aoe spell that can't be single target like witch slayer's aoe stun) because when you hover it over a hero it doesn't give info of them and only glows a bit.

So another question from a guy still kind of hovering around the upper 1650+ range. I've been recently thinking about carries who have the potential to go mid (and do well). Pretty much what I'm wondering is what would you guys consider the best carry to put mid that can still do very well late game? (I'm trying to get a bigger stable roster of heroes that I can pubstomp with going mid lane)
An example would be one match where I played a pretty good soulstealer early on, got some early kills and some good early farm but then succumbed to a warbeast and madman who just simply out carried me. (And a scout on my team who couldn't farm for dick, but thats another story all together) Pretty much I know that SS is very much a mid game carry but often times I find pub games tend to last a bit. At the very least I'm wondering what a decent pick up would be if my opponent ends up getting a good hard carry.
These are the carries I could see mid and what I think their strengths are late:
:arac: She scales really well late due to that precision buff even though I generally tend to build her as a mid game powerhouse (2-3x Soulscream rings, riftshards, whispering helm). I've had good luck on her recently in regards to carrying.
:madm: He has been known to be able to mid but he's not the best mid out there and gets kind of countered. Plus not sure how he is post-nerf.
:corr: He's a good anti carry (even though BKB late game kind of nullifies draining the damage on the enemy carry) but I haven't had the best of luck recently with him.
:pupp: Still a solid carry after all the nerfs? I havent played him but once since the lifesteal nerf, wondering how he is still.
:moon: This is one I've been thinking about giving a go more often in pubs. She can mid well with strong harass from her moon beam. In team fights a good ult can dominate people and a geo bane + glaives = mass damage. I honestly think she probably has the best carry potential out of all of these mid heroes but I could be wrong, I haven't played her in a while.
Sorry for another long post but I'm really trying to kind of figure out what I'm doing here and get something that works.

I tried playing Gauntlets the other day and i dont know why but his second ability isnt working right. It wont show the "red indicator" as to how i want to shoot the gloves, it just shoots out like devo's hook, that is, no "bend" or change in direction, is there a down load Im missing? or something I am not doing right? please help.

It used to bend, now it's more like Devourer's hook with the difference that you both end up where you click.

Ok, what do you guys think about this? Rampage mid. I just tried it in a match and did pretty good against a decent fa player. Even if he would root + harass I could still get a charge + horned strike off on her which would take off like half HP. Really easy harass and pretty decent rune control, plus gives you an easy way to just charge and gank lanes.
I know it wasn't optimal to do it against an FA mid (she ****s melee) but what do you guys think about it in a normal pub setting? Rampage seems to be one of those guys that if you get a good start off on him these days you can just spiral out of control and make people afraid to show themselves in a lane.

1. Top left hand corner of your screen will be a portrait of your team's heroes. Right under yours (The first one), there will be an icon of a little birdy. Click the birdy and the courier is shared with the entire team.
2. Yes. Courier is the best investment your team can actually get. Don't forget to actually use it.
3. You can't anymore. Previously, at 1:50/3:50/etc, you would go to top and send courier to bottom. If the rune was top, you have a free refilled bottle. If the rune was bottom, your courier gets the rune denying the enemy from it.
This was patched. Now, the only thing you can do is bottle ferrying- Bringing the bottle back to base via. the courier then back to you (Free refills). Or, you can use the courier as a ward (Fly it over the rune). If the rune is there, you don't need to guess where the rune is.
Obviously, given the courier's extensive amount of usage per game, I'd say just get wards.

Portal key or a homecoming will not stop it. In fact, you'll just get Showdowned back after you "safely" ported to base... or that's how it worked in DotA anyway...

If he mis-times the spikes you can portal-key out with split second timing after you get teleported back lol.
Also, where did the term steroids and cc originate from? I know they mean self-buff (like madman's ult) and disables, respectively, but I don't remember hearing anything of them when I was browsing the DotA forums "back in the day".

well do you know steroids are irl?
crowd control is a common term used for "controlling crowds" and cc basically does that (if u cc a :souls: u're basically controlling how they will play, taking away their carry and partly a "walking ult" is pretty huge). ofc it ults like tempest's actually does control crowds

I realize I'm asking a lot of questions here but I've got a bit more of a simple one.
What's the best thing to do in the situation where your team composition pretty much forces you to play a hero you know you aren't going to be able to do well with in the game. I just had a match where I had planned on playing :arac:. I tend to carry well with her ,ect. ect. Well we desperately needed stuns and no one else was budging. Finally I decided on a :witc: which ended up being the wrong choice against a gauntlet who could 1 shot me...
Just wondering what the hell I can do in these situations. I really want to just semi-carry a match but often times it gets to a point where picking one would only hurt us more than anything. It's really frustrating as a player and honestly it was the cause of 3 losses tonight for me.
I mean, is there anything you can do?

Learn to play every hero? Or at the very least a few heroes that fit each role, so you get used to knowing how to play that role, then can hopefully transfer those skills from hero to hero.
ps. wouldn't gaunt 1 shot the arachna even more than witch? :P

I'm not sure if you guys entirely got me.
I know how to play every hero and I can play every hero. However someone like a witch slayer doesn't have near the presence in a match that an arachna would.
It's not as much "not knowing" a hero and more of just getting shafted into a role where you can't make a major difference.

ur leave % is the same for both. you can't join "no leavers" non MM games either if u're a leaver

You'll be surprised by how much you can tinker with hero picks and still have an excellent team. Most people will stress the 3 ranged, 2 melee, 1 carry, 1 semi-carry, 1 tank, 2 supporters,2 gangers playstyle even if it forces a team into some horrible situations like WS against Gauntlet, DW, Pred etc. It's really up to you to make the right choice no matter what the team thinks "they need". You just have to make damn sure you are confident with the hero you are playing (sure you can play all heroes but it's impossible to play every hero equally good) and that there aren't any obvious ways to get countered. I have no idea what the line up was in the particular game but if you tell me the mode and what was banned/picked I'm pretty sure I can come up with some alternative that wouldn't have resulted in you getting massacred.
TLDR; Don't bother with the typical picking bullzhit everyone is trying to sell you. Most of the time they haven't thought about it too hard.

It was AP which is always part of the issue. I'm actually sort of thinking of switching over to BD/BP games now just because I'm getting sick of all the last minute picks that leaves it more up to luck than actual picking strategy.

Just asking, Ive got leaver status on MM. You might possibly think that I rage quitted everygame but thats not it. I played with some mates and tried to MM in team resulting us reconnecting to MM over and over to get into the same queue. This made me a leaver and im very mad at the solution you made for ppl like us.
I might be wrong but if there isnt anyway at all to fight off the leaver status without paying money I.... I dont have any words to describe how foul that is. If Im wrong please correct me, but if Im not I really hope you should consider another option like joining "leaver-games" to draw the leaver percentage down. Just like the public games.
This is called milking.. and I hope you dont do so.
