But anyway, I am not really asking for a creation to be made, but basically on our clan website the banner [made by AvunaOs] is absolutely amazing. That being said, my leader put a crappy background to it that looks really bad IMO, and he said he's keeping it unless I find something better. I can change the site [I have Admin] so I was wondering if someone could check out the site and give me some ideas of what would look good for the site background, and maybe some text font colors/style to go with it..?

is the site, so you graphics folk have a better eye than I do, so let me know what background colors/style would look best and be more attractive to the users.

Thank you!!

Well I'll give you my opinion.

The boxes of text should be a solid colour (like these forums), otherwise reading the text strains your eyes.
You could either reverse everything and have a light background/dark text, or keep the dark background/light text. For the latter (my preference), you'd have to change the border colours so they contrast the background (right now they are too hard to distinguish).

As for the background image, the current one isn't that bad. With the above changes it would look fine.

Alright thanks a bunch I'll get to work on that, but TBH I hate the background, it looks cheesy and lil kiddish, do you have any suggestions?

Okay, can you check it out now?
Is it better then before?
What can be done to it to improve it?

Here's a quick mockup I made.
All I changed was the black behind the text, and the borders, but already it's a big difference. Clicky (http://boonce.org/up/RlB_site_mockup.jpg)

I'm not sure about the background, just search Google for website backgrounds until you find something you like I guess.

AvunaOs care to give another opinion? =)

Slightly better, but there isn't enough contrast between the background and the foreground. See my previous post for an example, but basically you need the foreground (forum boxes, text and borders) to be easily seen against everything else. The background needs to be just that, a background.

At the moment, it's all meshed in one, and it's hard to focus only on the foreground. Just look at these HoN forums. I bet you don't even notice the background.

Hmmm, I added a different background does that make it easier..?

As I said before, there isn't enough contrast between the foreground and background. Change the colour of the borders.

See in my mockup, the dark red borders clearly define the foreground.

I also think you should make links a different colour. Having all the text one colour doesn't help.

How about now? I went with a darker gold fading into white to go with the gold in the background..

Getting better, but the borders around the text are still too dark.
