Soulstealer (his name might be different, can't remember...he was Nevermore in dota) is a great damage dealer, but you don't do it in the way any other hero is...you beef up his soul catching ability and nuke, then go stats. The ultimate isn't chosen till level 23-25.
Why? I have yet to see it do more than ~200 damage, at max level, at close range (not melee, but pretty close). I know it gives a debuff of -15% damage, but with the huge cast time, this skill is hardly worth the name of ''ultimate''...it does less damage than his nuke still (not sure what its called, but its his only other activated ability).
Is there a reason this skill does negligible damage compared to other ultis? Granted it is AoE, but still...

What, ive one shotted heroes with that ulti tons of times, it also has a very needed slowing effect. Realise that you need to stand really close to the victim to get full potential, thats why most people will go assasins shroud on him. Stealth up, get close, use ulti and mop up whatever still lives.

It does more damage the closer you are. If you can get your opponent in a tight spot it's a NASTY combo with ult-demon hand blasts.
The damage also depends on how many souls you have stored. (well, in dota at least. Not sure about HoN)

That's correct.

Yeah, I've had 30 souls (maybe 20 or so at the very least)...and while they haven't been in melee range, they have been close enough to be at the close range nuke spell, which I would think should still do some decent damage.
Maybe it doesn't scale very well past a certain distance?

Get a lothar's (shroud) invis walk right up to a hero with full souls on you and ulti. You can do massive damage to an entire group of heroes doing this. The ult is fine, and definately not something you pick stats over. especially sincce it slows them as well, giving you more time to dps them down.

I think the ult should be improved. It's nothing like it was in dota. very dissapointing. Also the armor reduction should be greater in the passive ability. This hero could be good, but it's not at all right now. definitely needs improvement.
