Range: 125

Skills

1: Shadowgate (Active)

Hotkey: Q
Target: Position
Range: 400/600/800/1000
By utilizing his powerful shadow magic, Whisper can meld into one shadow and appear from another. This acts as a blink that can move a maximum of 400/600/800/1000 distance. Upon reappearing, his shadows disperse, immediately silencing any enemy within a 225 radius for 1.0 seconds. If there are no enemies within range, there is a 50% chance that the shadows will return to use their magic on Whisper, cleansing him of 1 debuff.
Manacost: 80
Cooldown: 12/10.5/9/7.5 seconds

2: Mark of Darkness (Passive)

Hotkey: None
Target: Enemy Hero
Range: Melee
Whisper's weapons become entrenched in the shadows that surround him, giving them unnatural properties. Upon striking with a melee attack, Whisper's attacks have a 5%/10%/15%/20% chance to place a Mark of Darkness on his target. Only one target can have Marks on it at any given time; if a new target receives a Mark, the old Marks are instantly dispelled. A target cannot have more than 2/3/4/5 Marks on it at once. Each Mark lasts only 10 seconds maximum. For every Mark on it, the target loses 2% movement speed.
Manacost: 0
Cooldown: 0 seconds
[i]*Note: There would likely be a visual display for this skill, a floating shadow ball above the targets head (1 for each mark). This would allow the Whisper player to quickly determine how many marks are on a fleeing target.

Subskill: Dark Pull (Active)
Hotkey: W
Target: None (Instant)
Range: 99999
As long as a target has been marked, Whisper can detect its location and pull it towards him. For every Mark of Darkness active, the target of the Mark of Darkness is pulled 40/60/80/100 units towards Whisper (over 0.5 seconds) when Dark Pull is activated. After Dark Pull is used, any Marks of Darkness on the target are removed.
Manacost: 40/60/80/100
Cooldown: 30 seconds

3: Escape to the Shadows (Active)

Hotkey: E
Target: Enemy Hero
Range: Melee
When against a skilled opponent, sometimes it is best to make an equally skillful retreat. Whisper quickly performs a kick-flip off of the target themselves, and lands 300/400/500/600 units away, in the direction that was to his back. While in the air, he hurls a shadow-laced dagger at his opponent, dealing 50/100/150/200 magic damage and slowing their movement by 10%/20%/30%/40%. The dagger automatically applies a Mark of Darkness if more Marks are able to be placed on the target (if Mark of Darkness is untrained, no Mark will be applied).
Manacost: 75/100/125/150
Cooldown: 35/30/25/20 seconds
[i]*Note: I'm kindof imagining a reverse of what Panda currently uses for his leap forward for Flick, but with a higher arc.

4: Umbral Descent (Active)
Hotkey: R
Target: Enemy Hero
Range: 650
Damage Type: Superior Magic
Summoning forth all the shadow magic in his being, Whisper disappears completely. The target of his dark assault is then stunned for 1 second, as 6 shadow blades appear, cutting into their very soul, dealing 25%/50%/75% of Whisper's Base Damage in Magic Damage each. The shadows then disperse, causing a dark explosion that deals 200% base damage in magic damage to a 400 AoE around the target. Finally, Whisper reappears from the shadows, directly in the target's face, prepared to finish the job.
Manacost: 300/350/400
Cooldown: 120
*Note: The explosion does hit the original target, meaning that in total, the main target will take 350%/500%/650% base damage in Magic Damage total.
*Note: There is approximately a .5 second delay between the spirits appearing and attacking. Once they complete their attack animation (another .5 seconds), the explosion occurs. This means the original target is finished being stunned at the time of the explosion.
*Note: Potentially, Staff of the Master could affect this ultimate by boosting each level's damage by 25% and the AoE damage by 50% or even 100%

Thoughts

* The first skill is a shorter range, slightly longer cooldown blink with bonus effects. As such, it costs slightly more than other blinks. Remember this is an INT hero, and thus will likely have some more MP (though attack speed will be important with his Mark skill)

Any thoughts, considerations, or commentary/criticism would be very welcome. I'm going to try to make a mockup of the character in Practice Mode sometime soon, so maybe I'll post that if it gets popular enough.

Im a bit confused by:

The dagger automatically applies a Mark of Darkness of a level equal to the points in that skill (if Mark of Darkness is untrained, no Mark will be applied).

From what I can see, the only thing the level changes for the mark of darkness is max number of possible marks...?

Good point. Probably forgot to erase that after I reworked the ability before posting. I'll update the text a bit.

After doing some more math and reconsidering the numbers, I nerfed his ultimate a little. It felt a touch strong. Also, trying to find pictures for his abilities :3

Okay, that makes a bit more sense. I quite like the idea!

I like the idea, however it bugs me that the hero will basically have two escape mechanisms. Might be just me.

The entire mark thing seems interesting. I can see it being used with the backflip(spending all five charges after the backflip) to do some damage and pulling them back to you. It's still a little flaky looking in terms of damage viability though. Good start.

Reducing the distance he moves back from the flipkick might work to reduce the "double escape mechanism" problem. I also could make a new spell in place of the blink. I'll try to work on something later.

When Dark Pull is activated, does this remove the marks on the target?

Yes, it does. I should make this clearer.

Also, I have an image for Mark of Darkness. Many thanks to Axtrivium for the image.

the numbers from the ult are not op^^ imagine a 6.5times crit with 300 dmg.. that would be 1950 magic dmg to the primary target :O and 300 is not the best dmg u can get^^

but nice concept and i like it, maybe change the blink cd because i dont like it when there are too many blinkers in the game. to like 9 seconds so it isnt a real escaping skill

the ult does seem a bit op :/ but im loving the idea
bravo!~
maybe u can put a restriction on the ult, like cannot be casted on enemy unit if he has an allied unit thats 300units away or something :3

Yea, obviously the numbers still need more work. Especially with something like that. I'm also considering reworking the blink slightly (shorter range, higher cost?) considering how powerful the effect is when used right. Blinks are a touchy subject.

I never vote on numbers, just concept and wow this character would be really really intense. I like it.
