View Full Version : Montis' MiniMap Misclick Manager v1.6.4 (2012-01-24)
Montis
12-08-2009, 04:56 AM
What it does
This small mod adds a non-clickable area on the top and the right border of the minimap, thus avoiding misclicks and when playing on Legion side and spamming right click to get to safety. The non-clickable area is marked by a toggleable overlay to serve as visible aid. You can resize it and change the color and opacity through an options panel.
Also, there's an option to "reroute" your misclicks onto the game layer so they become actual clicks.
Misclicks are tracked in a counter.

.honmod v1.6.4 (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4209640/HoN/minimapmisclickmanager.honmod) (this requires ModMan v1.2 (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=25883) or above)
.honmod v1.4 for TinyUI (http://www.mediafire.com/?twrwimrzjon) - courtesy of FrozenDragon (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/member.php?u=179705), not tested nor supported by me <- THIS IS OLD AND WON'T WORK ANYMORE, feel free to make it work with FE2 though and post a link in this thread, I will update it here then
Future plans
- maybe make a compatibility update for mods which alter the minimap size (unlikely)
Changelog
v1.6.4 They broke it again (2012-01-24)
- fixed mod for UI overhaul
- fixed positioning in Options
v1.6.3 Retail ready (2010-05-12)
- updated HoN Mod version string for retail
v1.6.2 oops, I missed something vital (2010-03-28)
- truly updated the compatibility for FE2
v1.6.1 the 0.3 text-update (2010-03-25)
- updated the HoN compatibility indicator to 0.3xx as everything still works fine (hopefully)
v1.6 ... and counting! (2010-02-06)
- added counter for misclicks and an button to reset it (requested by Sneedy (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/member.php?u=178485))
- improved initialisation of variables (thanks to Ignorance (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/member.php?u=31393))
v1.5 you're blocking my clicks? not anymore! (2010-01-25)
- added option to reroute the clicks onto the game layer (thanks to Ignorance (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/member.php?u=31393))
- added (limited) option to move the minimap button
- added auto updating for HoNMod Manager, therefore requires ModMan v1.2 or above
- added semi-compatibility to MiniUI
* don't report bugs in combination with MiniUI if the overlays don't work or aren't really on top of the minimap. I won't care (for the moment)!
v1.4b compatibility update (2010-01-16)
- added .honmod compatibility with most recent version of BardUI where he added the custom MiniMap
* Note: the overlay only displays when you have the standard map active!
v1.4 Want to disable Blacksmith? Too bad, that actually works! (2009-12-22)
- added option to disable the Blacksmith overlay
- added option to disable the Blacksmith sound
v1.3 one size doesn't fit all (2009-12-19)
- added sliders to set width and height of the overlay
- added sound
- added semi easter egg
- added incompatibility with Tiny UI and MiniUI to the HoNMod file
v1.2 now with options! (2009-12-17)
- added options panel (right click on the button) where you can set the opacity the two different overlays and also the color of the plain overlay
- added tooltip to button
v1.1 second official release (2009-12-12)
- fixed all known issues of v1.09 (hopefully)
v1.09 the beta with the toggle button (2009-12-09)
- added a button for three toggleable states
* on (with red visible aid)
* on (with sexy girls as visible aid)
* off
- known issue: overlay doesn't keep the state in which it's left, default state for overlay is on with red visible aid
- known issue: on some screens/resolutions, there's a small gap between the overlay panels
v1.0 initial release (2009-12-08)
- red, non-clickable area on top and right of minimap, no configuration
Known issues
- Incompatible with Tiny UI (and probably other addons which alter the mini map)
Installation
Use the HoN ModMan (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=25883) like you do with other mods.

okay I tried and the only map where it really could restrict you is when you're playing hellbourne on watchtower (TPing back to fountain could be a bit tricky there), so I don't think I'll bother myself for changing this whole thing just because of that

so I tinkered the freaking whole day and all I got was a toggleable version. :)
it's got one bug though: I couldn't get the damn overlay to load at the same state in which it's left, so I defaulted it to the first setting (on, with red visible aid). if someone could help me with this, I would be very thankful.

can't anyone help me with this? I just need to restore the visibility state of the panels based on a variable... I tried like 6 hours and got nothing that worked :(
MaxGhost
12-10-2009, 05:26 PM
SetSave(var, value);
Should work... then you just pull the value of that var when the game loads.
Montis
12-11-2009, 02:51 AM
yeah I have that but how can I use this?
<panel visible="var" /> didn't work for me or maybe I was doing it wrong?
Darkager
12-11-2009, 04:03 AM
<panel visible="1/0" />
or
<panel visible="true/false" />
Montis
12-11-2009, 04:57 AM
that's exactly what I don't want but already have.
I need to restore the visibility state of the panels on load based on a variable
Darkager
12-11-2009, 06:17 AM
instead of the hard value, use the variable.
The difference between what I posted and what you posted is:
You posted the attribute "visibility"
Whereas, I posted "visible"
-- two hugely different results, as yours won't work.
Pay attention!! Modding takes excruciating attention to detail, especially debugging...
In turn:
<panel visible="var" />
Montis
12-11-2009, 06:42 AM
yeah, my bad - I know that and I wrote "visible" in the code, but still:
<panel visible="var" />doesn't work for me :(
attached you can find my work in progress version and tell me what I do wrong...
my code is marked with <!-- MMMMM --> and <!-- /MMMMM -->
MaxGhost
12-11-2009, 04:00 PM
No, you need to use visible="true" or visible="false".
Montis
12-11-2009, 06:06 PM
so I basically can't save the visible state? :(
MaxGhost
12-11-2009, 06:44 PM
so I basically can't save the visible state? :(
Use a custom trigger to save it. I suggest you take a look at Barter's UI and how he saves the minimap being visible or invisible.
Darkager
12-11-2009, 07:41 PM
I could have swore you could save visible as a var if it's a BOOL var.... not a string with the value of "1"
Montis
12-11-2009, 08:18 PM
yay, I finally got it! although it's a bit of a messy workaround-- but what can you do :P
kudos for the solution go to Barter (and to MaxGhost for the hint I guess) ;)
Barter made an init-panel which watches the gametime and based on that triggered further events, making stuff (in)visible etc.

Oh, and to correct myself... Using the variable to specify panel visibility is only for it's initial state. The triggers are used to show/hide it afterward.
Montis
12-12-2009, 04:26 PM
yes I just needed it for it's initial state (everything else can be easily done by trigger) but that still didn't work with the variable :/ but whatever it works now :)

is it only me or the download aint working?
EDIT: its mediafire issue. any chance of rapidshare mirror poping up?
and also this mod aint in the repository (like some others i encountered), why is that? is there some place where there are all mods listed?
EDIT: ok i downloaded the mod and its awesome except the blacksmith thingy, can we have an option to disable it... its cool first few toggles but it gets really annoying on the 100th...

ausgezeichnet. danke!
also is there a way only to disable right click on the minimap, right now it disables both click and there is no point in disabling the left click since no one missclick that. and it would be cool if i could left click the minimap to take me to view the position i clicked and then right click on the ground if i wanna move there. this way no right missclick will happen but the minimap doesnt loose all of its usability.
Montis
12-22-2009, 02:00 PM
Huh that could be quite hard to implement but I might have an idea that works.
Well - I just wanted to upload 1.4 but I think I'll check on that first ;)
and: danke ebenso :-)
Montis
12-22-2009, 02:34 PM
sorry I actually had two good ideas but both didn't work.
first idea was to relay only the left click on the overlay to the minimap, doesn't work.
second was to let you click through the overlay but check with the mouse if you're over the overlay or not - but as soon as you make the overlay "through click able" (sorry, I don't have a better name for this), the mouse over stuff doesn't work either :(
if anyone has an idea on how this could work: message me
so: release of v1.4, sadly without this feature
connta
12-22-2009, 03:33 PM
so basically u cant make overlay selectively clickable...
MaxGhost (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/member.php?u=40014) has similar mod like yours and his is selectively clickable but does not use overlay it blocks the map completely for right clicks and left still work... ur addon seemed bit more advanced but if its not possible to do this with an overlay then im afraid its a win-lose situation.
Montis
12-22-2009, 03:42 PM
well I used MaxGhosts Mod as a reference (I even used it actively before I made this mod) but it works different. it just checks if the mod is turned on (with the button) and if that's the case it circumvents the rightclick action on the whole minimap per If-command.
that's basically what I had in mind for my second idea, but I couldn't combine it with the overlays I created

sorry, but I won't make this compatible with TinyUI and MiniUI for the time being
What's the reason? Too lazy or..? :P
No but seriously, I like the mod but don't use it due to the incompatibility with MiniUI.
EDIT: A workaround for those who want to use both, if you install barter UI and just place the map that comes with the mod over MiniUI's map, you can size it to the default size and it "should" work. I haven't tested it yet though, probably going to later.
EDIT2: Nope, the barterui map overlaps it. Need a compatibility patch! :(

yes, too lazy. the problem is, that each of these mods alter the code, on which this mod is based on, so basically I would need to make a compatible version for each and one of those. and that's just too much work for me as I don't use them, sorry. If I've got REALLY too much time someday, I'll might think about it, but I don't think that's anytime soon.
also with the resizing capabilities from those mods this mod has to be recoded quite a bit, and that's just another reason not to do it.
i found a way to make it work with mini ui, although my mini ui is a bit edited(added my own portrait) if you have the minimap ping fixed on yours it should be compatible.
mini ui and misclick (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showpost.php?p=798385&postcount=750)
just rename the minimapmisclickmanager.honmod to have a different 1st letter to have it appear after mini ui aplhabetically (mine is renamed ominimapmisclickmanager.honmod)
after doing so, the manager has to be updated of the new order, open the manager and press f5, it should refresh and misclick will appear after mini ui. re-apply and there should be no incompatability (it worked on mine so no doubt it will work on yours)
the most important part is that the icon of misclick comes after mini ui on the manager, and do not forget to refresh the manager. (mods are listed alphabetically according to the honmod file, and is arranged from left to right)
Montis
12-29-2009, 06:25 AM
you should add a line in the modified mod XML reading:
<requirement name="MiniUI" version="*" />
then the ModMan will execute MiniUI first and only use my mod if MiniUI is active.
nevermind, I did that myself and uploaded it to the first post. this one should work with the standard version of MiniUI with no renaming etc.
BUT: this has not been tested by me and because of the nature of MiniUI and my mod it could easily result in my mod not working as intended (overlay wrong size or something like that)

Could you make it compatible with this - http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=30871&highlight=Smaller+minimap
It doesnt show any errors persay but a version Sized for this mini map would be nice. But since that mod got very little input im sure i might be one of the few that actually use.
If you feel youd be making it only for me then never mind but it would be nice to use your mod w with the smaller minimap.

If you plan on having other addons you should use the HoN Mod Manager (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=25883), description for installing that in the linked thread. Then you should download the .honmod Version 1.4 (http://www.mediafire.com/file/f3zuyvwenwy/minimapmisclickmanager.honmod) and use that file with the HoN Mod Manager.
If you don't care about other addons, you can download the .s2z Version (see first post) and just put it in the Heroes of Newerth\game folder

There is an incompatibility between this and BardUI since the new version of BardUI came out. Prolly stems from both editing stuff with the minimap. I haven't confirmed this yet, but I'm pretty sure that's right. Just wanted to point this out.

Okay so if you mini map is resized with tiny ui the overlay does not shrink and grow with it... buuuut you can adjust the high and width making it touch the edges again.
In general I would suggest adding a 45 degree angle corner/triangle in the top right since that is the most important part and most common miss-clicked.

Is it possible to only disable right-clicks in the overlay area and not left clicks? Perhaps as an option?
Actually let me rephrase it: I know it's possible to do it since MaxGhost's original MOD did just that - disable right clicks on the map but leave left clicks as they were. So, could something like that be implemented? There's not much reason to not let people left click. :-P

Yeah, I know - but it was a while ago and I thought something in the UI, the scripting interface or your MOD might have changed, especially since you are i.e. able to redirect right clicks to the game layer now... I assumed you could be able to redirect left clicks to the layer the minimap is on but if that's impossible then I guess not.

OK, I checked the code and I saw that the redirection of clicks is achieved with the CommanderPrimary and CommanderSecondary commands, correct?
How are you achieving the non-clickability of your border overlay? I don't wanna dig too deeply into somebody else's code since it confuses me. :-P
Is this a natural "function" of there being an overlay on a higher level than the minimap or do you set something as being unclickable? I guess I'll have to search if there is a way to make something not react to right clicks only.
P.S. I checked the minimap Right-Click toggle by MaxGhost and like you wrote in this thread he simply disabled tight clicks on the whole minimap using the MinimapRightClick function. Sooo, there is no function for handling left/rightclicks on any other custom interface elements like your overlay?

it's actually just if you have an UI element (e.g. a panel) on top of another element (the minimap in this case), you can not click through the element without setting noclick to true. the noclick attibute basically disables all tracking of clicks and hovers on the respective element and just uses the next element layer for that matter.
actually writing this I got an idea now how to solve this, which may or may not work, going to test that, brb.
edit: damn, didn't work.

Could you perhaps change the minimap location from left side of the interface to right?
the only mod i can think of that can do that is mini ui. if you like the default, the xml can be edited so that only the minimap.package/moveframes.package(+a couple more since it also changes the game window height) get copied over and you get the default ui+movable mimimap.
its 3:17am right now(here; gmt +8) and im not motivated to do this for you, so either you figure it out or get someone elst to do it for you

Mine won't work. I can install it and all, but when I want to enable it ingame, it just says "BLACKSMITH!!" but it's not enabled.

can you give me a list with your other addons?

It would be awesome if you could add the option to let us use a hotkey to disable the 'Reroute Panel' option, so I can set it up so the Mini-map doesn't do anything unless I hold Ctrl and Right Click.
