In DOTA, this guy was moved to the "fun" tavern and later removed altogether (I think) fairly early on in DOTA history, mainly becuase its randomness isn't all that great for gameplay- but I thought he was a very fun hero to play.
Most of his abilities were based on how much money you had or were based on random chance; that said I miss him (And if anyone has been keeping old versions of DotA, I'd very much like to play the last version that had him in it)
I don't remember the exact specifics of his abilities, except for his ultimate ability which dealt damage to a target equal to some fraction of the gambler's gold.

Do a search on the dota forums, someone has a huge download for tons and tons of old dotas.
Errr, why should HoN re-introduce a hero which was removed due to his lack of teamplay/usage? I don't think that Icefrog removed him without a valid reason. Same goes for 'tons of old dotas'.

The reason he could be implemented in some manner or fashion is that some might think him fun to play.
Though dota and HoN are moslty competitive, games are supposed to be fun.

Gambler was removed because of faulty programming made gim abusable.
First, his Lucky Stars passive ability would proc a few frames before his auto attack launched. This meant you could constantly stop his animation and shoot off Lucky Stars like crazy.
After that was fixed, another thing led to abuse. Lucky Stars did damage based on how much gold the gambler had. Due to his "I win if I'm right or wrong" ability that just constantly gave him gold, the Gambler could just sit on 10,000 gold and one shot people.
He was fun, just way too powerful.

Had an idea of an eastereg-ish MarkDeForest (Maliken) unit, running around throwing cash at everything that moves. Nice to hear dota had something similar.
On a different note, what can makes this game even more fun for me is how the skills of different units can affect and change the world (Possibly irreversibly). Runing around watching your heroes use sword/magic wands/daggers is what makes hon boring. If Chronos could actually slow down time for everything on the map except himself, that would be fun fun. (example sakes)
A Banker or Gambler as you call him, sounds like an awesome idea that needs some more brainstorming. Utilizing your gold for skills! Genius!

Yeah, I just had good memories of him and want to see him again. :p
If there is a way he could be balanced a bit for this, I'd certainly love to see him back though. Obviously the abilities could be made different in a way that keeps the theme while being a little less unpredictable or overpowering in the right hands.

You know, I like how at least a few people are approaching the game with the right spirit.
