View Full Version : Electrician?
I would say bloodstone, but it's very hard to get kills with Electrician without purposely trying to KS your teammates, and that would just be bad, taking away kills from the carry. So I think his mana shield should be approached differently than Medusa's, but I'm not sure how.
Guinsoo?

Well you could easily replenish your mana with his third skill, as long as you get enough charges.

I've actually been having alarming success with a Codex on electrician. Mind you, it's to be used out of necessity, not excess.
Assuming you have someone putting on the hurt on the target of your static grip, they should end up pretty low by the end of it. However I very often see victims of static grip escaping with minimal hp. The Codex fills in Electrician's lack of a finisher, while still giving him mana by which to tank with his shield. The level of Codex you get should vary based on the game. You are better off getting more tanking oriented items, such as the Bloodstone (Sacrificial Stone, i think), or the Frostfield Plate.
Furthermore, with the Sacrificial Stone, Electrician normally would have trouble getting any kills by which to charge it, again, the Codex helps here. Remember that you are not the carry by any means though, kills should be left to others where possible. However I did have a game yesterday where I was murdering an accursed with a level 5 Codex, by blowing him up before his ult would trigger. Codex should be used to finish runners who would otherwise escape, or be healed, or whenever your not confident they would otherwise die.

I was using a Null Stone on Electrician and after level 12, I NEVER died. Null Stone is great because it also helps prevent you from being disabled while you're using your Static Grip.
I wouldn't suggest a Sacrificial Heart because the purpose of it is to grant you extra benefits from kills and by getting kills you take the kills away from the carry. To get kills you also need a high damage nuke which comes from a Codex. Codex wastes your mana and also takes away the carry's kills so overall it's not worth it. It's better to get a Frostshield Plate for extra armor and mana or a Null Stone.
Electrician's role is gank and tank. Static Grip and Cleansing Shock do the ganking while Electric Shield and Energy Absorption do the tanking.

Helm of the Black Legion + Stormspirit + Enhanced Marchers
Electrican is a tank and support hero, pure and simple. People trying to get kills with him are doing it wrong. They should add to his annoying voice lines 'I hope you like assists'.
With storm spirit, Grip, and Cleanse you can basically permadisable someone for your team to beat on, then between Helm, Electrical Absorption, and the mana regen and + int from stormspirit, you're basically invincible/a waste of mana for people to target. Enhanced Marchers help you get that extra speed boost on heroes to get in for the grip, maneuver through creeps, and run like a madman when your team dies and you're still alive, though we hope that doesnt happen.
Lastly- using cleanse and then grip on an Ult+Shielded jereziah is probably the most fun you'll have with electrician ever.

Well its actually quite easy to get lasthits with energy absorb. Just grip and and let allys hit. When low click absorb and receive kill :)
Isn't storm spirit = flying cyclone for 2.5s = immunity for the hero inside it? I made that mistake once on a 1v1. Thought I could be beating them up while they were swirling :(

Well it gives your cooldowns time to recharge (electricians has pretty small cd on his skills so its good on him) and get next to him so he wont escape when you chasing him.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

Sac Stone/Behe Heart/Frostfield Plate makes you practically immortal. Sac stone first, which alone makes you semi godlike -_-

Yes, but then the people who did all the damage hate you.
Not that I don't do it anyways, I went 10-0 with him recently, but its a bit dickish.
Also- People who get sac stone are missing the point. Sac stone costs a fortune (5000) and its hard to farm that up with electrician. In addition, it gives you 0 utulity other then a fat butt. Storm Spirit and Helm give you even more tank, and cost about the same, AND give you the utility of a third disable, and are much easier to farm since they have small, cheap components. You're not going to die as Elec so you don't get the benefit of healing your team/respawning faster if you get focused (which never happens) and you're rarely going to kill anything and so you get no benefit of the kills. You might as well get null stone for that price.

Vanguard->Skadi->Guinsoo is all you need on him.
Skadi for the second item gives you the slow and a greatly boosted mana pool, guinsoo gives you all the mana you need to tank forever.

I think Skadi is a bit of a waste since you spend so much of your time not attacking. Seems like alot of money to spend just for + stats

Vanguard = Helm of the Black Legion
Skadi = Frostfield Plate (99% sure, it's acolyte staff, the 1400g platemail and then a 600g recipe)
Guinsoo = Totem of Kuldra.
hope it clarifies things Azzy.

As long as you get Vanguard and Phase boots you are win. After that I like to experiment with some intelligence item. Sometimes I go cyclone, sometimes Sheep stick, tried Bloodstone, didn't like it. Like the idea of Shivas, but think I will try Puzzelbox next time(Necronomicon). Like the idea of summons hitting heros while disabled, plus the increased movespeed I'm pretty sure they give will make sure single heroes never escape.

My typical build is Vanguard + Arcane Ring. After that, you are basically in God mode.

I get bracer and arcane ring. I dont really buy or use shield until I get arcane ring, and once I have it I tend to keep it on all the time... until I get heart or something, but even then my mana still tends to stay up.

Because he doesn't have a purge that slows and another stun 8 seconds later?

If someone is running away with minimal HP, use cleansing shock, stormspirit to hold them in place while you catch them or totem of kundra to much the same effect. I don't like sac heart on electrician really since you're wanting the carry to get the kills.
Not tried Null Stone on him though - sounds like a good idea.

I've gone enhanced marchers -> vanguard -> puzzlebox 3 on him almost every time. It's satisfying.
Frostfield Plate and Null Stone definitely sound like viable items. I'll probably give stormspirit a shot too, that sounds fun.

8 seconds is quite a long time in this game. Honestly, the most common application of Codex is on heroes with escape mechanics, mostly Chronos, Scout and Madman (and anybody who makes an Assassin's Shroud. They tend to get away right after your grip ends, unless you explode them of course. Also, the sound and animation of Codex is just so rewarding, it makes me smile so wide.
I get the feeling most people got to the word "Codex" in my post, and stopped. It's for getting the kills that would normally get away. You gripping a stealther? Can you blow him up? Do it, because otherwise he's home free. Is that Jereziah I see walking up to heal my target, can I gib him? Yes? Do it.
That sorta stuff, it is by no means the best idea, and for the second time, by no means your job to get kills. But it is certainly not without it's uses, at least mid-level gameplay.

Screw that, if it wasn't for static grip they probably wouldn't have gotten the kill anyway. :P
