Heroes of Newerth Community, I have some very large and exciting news for you. You all are aware of our last $500 dollar HoN League Tournament and it's success. It was amazing because of you, the HoN community, the DotA crew that has assembled into the future, and the new guys to the genre who are learning fast. I have the great honor of announcing to you tonight, an advancement for both Heroes of Newerth, and e-Sports as a whole.

HoN League, in association with Check Six Gaming, S2 Games and Microsoft SideWinder, are proud to present:

HoN League: Check-Six SideWinder Tournament Series

This HoN League Series will be a 5v5 Single Elimination Bracket. The tournament will be a closed 128 Team Bracket, HoN League Tournament staff will be screening teams eligible for sign ups based off of performance in last tournament, and by your activity level. HoN League Vouched teams will have Early Registration.

The winners of this tournament will be given the opportunity to become the official HoN team signed by Check-Six Gaming, as well as receive Microsoft Sidewinder Suites for each player.

This looks really exciting, As difficult as it may be can i ask that a good number of matches be casted. Me and my friends like to watch them together and discuss player roles/builds etc. Provides countless hours of entertainment if we could watch a few of these (lower ranked games dont need shoutcasted, imo!)

What if people don't want check-six gaming sponsorship?
Real e-sports contracts with teams/players are a fairly big deal and it has to be a mutual coming together - not won via a tournament like some reality TV singing contest, it doesn't make sense and the winners may not even want anything to do with checksix ect so perhaps go into more detail about this because it seems sketchy at best.

Good Job wih the rest of stuff though.

There's no more "details" to release outside of when it starts.

When I pitched this idea to our sponsors at Microsoft, I wanted to give them a good community value for it. The idea of the one of the top professional e-Sports organizations being the first to pick up a team for a new game with such a large player base was not something hard for our sponsors to understand it's potential.

Besides, not like you would have to worry about winning ;P SUP!

Pretty sure if any of the top teams really gave a damn about being sponsored, it would have already happened. A lot of lesser teams are sponsored, albeit, by no-names.

Anyone can join, you just got to be prepared to play a game at a stupid hour. You'll get to chose a server that's a compromise between you and whatever team you're playing as well IIRC. Remember some post where HunteR_ said they spend quite some time deciding servers.

Although be prepared to compromise play times to fit those in other parts of the world.

Yes, Vyye is correct that we work very hard to find a server that works for both teams with minimal problems.

Thanks to the Heroes of Newerth Netcode, it's possible to find a server with minimal lag for both teams, even in different continents.

Also official play dates will be posted tonight after our HoN League Staff meeting.

About the backdoor rules:
"-Backdooring outer towers is allowed. (Cannot attack tower/structures in base without creep support)
-Entering the oppositions base without a creep wave is NOT allowed"
So, does this mean that for example, if you enter the enemy base from bottom lane with creep support and destroy the tower and raxes there, you aren't allowed to continue to kill middle lane base tower and raxes unless there are creeps attacking the middle lane base tower/raxes?

I see that the brackets are up, and would like to voice my concern about the distribution of current top teams. It seems no seeding was done, and that most of the top teams all are in the same bracket. I think it goes without saying that this detracts from the tournament experience for most people involved.
