This is my ping to www.vg.no (http://www.vg.no) (news site)

I'm using wifi through my phone to get internet on my computer. As you can see, the ping varies a bit. But, the ping is always low. Also in HoN, when i do /ping, it stays below 100ms. BUT, the game lags really much. It's like i have 5 fps. I just finished a game with this lag, and i feel almost sick. Like when reading a book while in a car. There is not much delay, just this insane stuttering.
It's like HoN can't cope with variations in ping on my connection. Or is there other factors ?

Is there something i can do about this ? Except connecting through a cable.

Help is much appreciated.

Slight differences in ping like that wont cause stuttering. If your ping was fluctuating from say 50 to 150 you might notice odd delay and maybe small stuttering but not too likely. Stuttering wont usually happen until past 200-250ms.

Are you positive it is not graphics lag and it is network lag? Stuttering for an online game can be from either the network or from system performance. You can use something like FRAPS to check your FPS. If you're getting above 30 then it's probably network issues, if you're getting less than that then it's on your cpu/gpu for performance issues.

Run a voip quality test http://myspeed.visualware.com/indexvoip.php - Use the G.726 (32 Kbps) codec if available. If you get anything below where the standard line cuts off then you can have some issues, if it's above that then there should be no network issues unless you're dropping or fragmenting packets.

I tried the voip test. It says i have 0 packet loss, but i have 20ms of jittering.
I have to add that i can play Dota 2 without any problem.

As far as i can tell, HoN always tries to give you the lowest ping possible. Thats why it's so much faster than Dota 2.
In Dota 2 everyone has the same ping. So if it varies below that, it doesn't matter because Dota will add some and keep it stable above 100 anyway.
Seems HoN doesn't do that, maybe thats why my connection and HoN fails.
