View Full Version : [Remake] Iron Buckler & Iron Shield Block
My suggestion is the following: Rebalance the block from 60% chance to block 20 damage to block 12 damage on every hit.
Reduces the RNG for these two items, and as a side-effect slightly buffs heroes like Legionnaire who rely on Iron Buckler to jungle effectively, as it will make them absorb slightly more damage against neutrals with a damage of less than 20.

With regards to the RNG, so long as it doesn't cause frustration it can be more interesting to keep in the game. The uphill miss on Wards was definitely a cause of frustration and was good to remove, but the RNG here tends to be more of a source of entertainment than frustration I find (like Blacksmith, where a multi-cast is rewarding, but not multi-casting doesn't feel too punishing). Maybe there are many who find this RNG frustrating though, I'm only speaking for myself here.
With regards to the buff effect - junglers like Legionnaire don't have a problem with the creeps that hit for less than 20 anyway, it's the ones that hit harder that make jungling difficult.

Add a poll and I would vote yes ^.^
Edit: I feel this will make jungling more reliable and not based on RNG for heroes that do not require summons. However, this does not help junglers who summon (War beast in particular) who to a degree is at the mercy of the spawns that he gets.

Personally I find RNG very annoying for nearly everything - Though I'm still not suggesting to completely remove it.
I had 2 specific games, and after those, I've always hated the RNG in Iron Buckler/Shield.
First one was when I was playing vs a Devourer at mid. There was a skirmish going on, and long story short, it ended in Devourer staying alive with 10 hp and getting bloodlust on me. Outplayed/outcalculated? Well, I wouldn't say so. His Iron Buckler blocked 20 damage in 11 out of 12 hits, which resulted in the above. Needless to say, I was losing mid after that.
The second one, I was playing Magebane against two ranged heroes with 600 range. Obviously, I am going to take heavy harassment on that lane, but I took far more than I should've - Simply because my Iron Buckler was basically never blocking the 20 damage.
I'm sure I've had situations that were completely the opposite, but people tend to remember the bad things first, and actually may not even notice such a 'small' thing as Iron Buckler blocks if it is to their own advantage.
I avoid playing heroes like Pestilence, Wildsoul, Blacksmith or Flint Beastwood, or building items like Charged Hammer or Brutalizer because the RNG simply never favors me.
As far as the Legionnaire-question is concerned - If he takes less damage from the small creeps, he is going to have more HP to withstand the damage output of the bigger creeps.

There is a poll, isn't there? :O
