What are the best items for gladiator? In order please. So I know what to get first. Thanks!

I usually get my Ghost Marchers first and then depending on the enemy team I go for either a Helm Of The Black Legion or Assassins shroud/Whispering helm. If the enemy team has a lot of burst dmg it might be a good idea to get the HoTBL before getting your dmg items so you can live long enough to deal the dmg. If the enemy team has a lot of magic dmg or cc abilities a Shrunken Head can be a good investment. If you have enough farm, riftshards is a nice item =)

Start : generic carry melee (buckler hatchet runes)
Lifetube first, obviously.
Then ghost marchers
Then Runed axe if good farm early + you can finish it before 20' + you won't need so much defense for midgame (so don't do it against a well farmed ganker mid)
If not runed, HotBL.
Then Shroud (or BKB if your team already have invisible units / if they are smart enough to buy dust)
If not Shroud, BKB.
Then Shards.
Then Behe's heart
Then DOOM ! :D

hatchet, buckler, blights -> bottle (mid) -> ghost marchers -> psupply and other cheap stuff you need like vestments/rott -> shroud -> crit -> another crit -> savage/doom/heart -> doom

Lifesteal is useless on gladi and I really dont get it why someone gets runed axe. Gladi farms just as fast w/o one. The second crit is crucial and will make a big difference.

Heres some gladi rape 1750+ 82122007

So much bad in this thread..

Start hatchet / shield / tangos

Lane, lifetube

Core, assassins shroud and hotbl

Luxury, riftshard, genuro, doombringer,

Anything other than this is just people what they
LIKE to get. Not what's most effective.

Honesty if the game is not over by the time you
have Max rift shard then you and your team
Are doing it wrong n will probably lose.

To get the most out of gladiator, this is what I go:

Starting items: 1x Runes, 1x Healthpot, 1x Buckler, 2(3)x Minor Totems, 1(0)x Mana pot

Gladiator has a fairly decent attack animation and base damage and with the whip (giving a free lasthit or two with every cd) you shouldn't have any issue creeping. Hatchet just seems like a waste but sometimes is nice if you're mid.

Then: Lifetube, HotbL, Shroud - Lifetube for lane presence, Helm for survivability in early teamfights/skirmishes, Shroud to abuse the burst damage and to give more dmg and an escape mechanism.

As stated luxury: Tbh item number 1 is riftshards. The whole reason that you get a shroud other then for the ability to initiate and for the escape mechanism is because shard crits multiply the 120 bonus damage giving you cheap bonus burst. The shards also give you just a tonne of +dmg, which is basically what gladiator needs.

The other luxurys are more debatable. I personally like shieldbreaker because its cheap easy to obtain damage and it still increases your AoE burst (as the pure damage from whip is just extended damage from the first whipped target [MINUS THE MITIGATION - the minus armor means less mitigation]).

But other acceptable choices are behes, runed cleaver (really good with a tempest), mock, db, deamonic. For obvious reasons. Genjuro is a great upgrade as well and basically allows you to double whip in a fight giving you twice the chance to crit. (Gladiator is basically a dice roll hero depending on if you crit big).

Ok thanks guys! Should gladiator go mid or side lane?

It depends on what heroes are on your/the enemy team. If your team has a really good solo mid (pollywog, hag, moraxus etc) you can go side lane. Also if the enemy team has a really good ranged mid hero with good harrass (bombardier, polly, sillu etc) you might wanna have a range from your team as well. Otherwise it would be fine for you to take mid since Gladiator is a solid mid hero. You might also want to take in consideration which color you are, meaning if you are brown/orange it might be a good idea to let some1 else go mid.

As for going sidelane with gladiator, he can be very effective with the right laning partner. Some1 with a high dmg target stun works very well (andro, witch slayer etc) for lining up easy pit falls and follow up dmg with the whip.

Gladiator can mid but generally can't get that great farm because he ends up roaming a lot more that way. I prefer to have him play with a sitter so they can look for kills and even push the opponents off the lane.

As for itembuild, I play Gladiator quite differently from the popular "Flagellatíon-Annihilation" build, mostly because I prefer to have him dealing consistent damage while actually staying alive rather than hoping for the really big hit. Though my build hurts quite damn lot as well.

Start up with Two sets of runes or one set of runes plus hp potion, iron buckler and crushing claws. Look to get Ghost Marchers and Helm of the Black Legion early, along with Blood Chalice.

After that I go farm-spree, stacking camps and pushing the lane consistently and rush Mock of Brilliance. After that Shroud and dismantle HotBL to build Behemoth's Heart. Build order with these is completely up to preference. Save the Lifetube for Nullstone to replace the Blood Chalice if needed, otherwise just go for Riftshards at that point. More consistent damage with more survivability, also reducing team-dependency by a ton.

Ok thanks. What are some other heroes that I would have a good time with? I wanna try some new heroes.

Starting: Buckler, tango, ring of protection, totem. Farm bottle if mid.
Core:power supply, ring of basilis, treads/marchers, vest, hotbl.

Then shroud. Alternative for shroud cos easily countered. > Insanitarious

Luxury = riftshard, heart, shrunken if necessary, demonic plate, blink dagger or sheepstick

Y wid you get genjuro/lifesteal/runes cleaver

In my opinion only ever get hachet if youre going to be fighting for last hitting with your lane partner and also only ever get helm if your really need that survivability early/mid game. As gladiator you should 99% of the time purely build damage items which i dont recommend helm, i might get some flame for that but hey just stating my opinion

build ghost marchers>Shroud>bkb*/riftshards>Genjuro>Heart>Daemonic. You can always switch out the bkb/daemonic for doombringers or a savage mace+heart. Never get shieldbreaker because you need to hit them once to apply the debuff. Theres always the infamous build some pro player used,i forgot who it was but i remember he used it in a tourney, it was something like ghostmarchers>helm>runed axe>shroud>double doombringer

*Get bkb if your fights are lasting long during the midgame although they really shouldnt be

This is entirely based on my opinion so yeah LOL

The picking of helm depends on preferences and playstyle. For me, constantly pushing the lane I'm at, keeping it pressured and having a presence in both own jungle and the lane is a lot easier when you have that Helm because you can go pretty deep along the lane, get ganked by three heroes, still get out and turn the situation around when team teleports to help. It also allows for easier and safer jungle-clearing. It makes him almost ungankable without serious committing on it and gives such a stable farm.

As to Daemonic and Shieldbreaker. Let someone else do Daemonic and Shieldbreaker is hardly beneficial on him because -armor only affects his main target.

The reason people get cleaver on glad is because 1) It does make him farm faster, and less reliant on his crit to clear waves and 2) It gives him solid mana regen to continuously spam his spells and such. With cleaver, you can spam pitfall whenever you want without worrying about running out when the teamfight finally happens. And it adds a good chunk of damage in the first place anyways.

I'd like to add that you shouldn't be afraid to get a nullstone if the enemy team warrants it. I tend to always get it if I'm up against Vindicator. You'll be able to spam pitfalls with reckless abandon with it too :)

solo mid:
shield, x2 totem, runes OR hatchet, shield, runes
-> bottle [+ mana battery] + lifetube
-> [helm if needed, usually is] -> shroud/riftshards

personally my build in dota for pubs was the equivalent to marchers + bottle -> helm -> Riftshards -> riftshards -> riftshards -> riftshards. I don't know how it works in HoN, but in dota:
1 buriza = 25% to 2.5x crit
2 buriza = 43.75%
3 buriza = 57.8125%
4 buriza = 68.359375%

was hilarious, crits everywhere
