i remember last year after dreamhack and nasl finals hon comp scene was dead. everyone said there has to be more tournaments, more something to compete, to keep players and viewers active.
so we are more than one week after dreamhack summer 2012 now. there has not been a single event from honcast, not a single post from phil about how the director of e-sport is going to revitalize the szene again. i mean come on, right after dreamhack, after hon got exposed to a really big audience, people are curious how is it going on, what has the game to offer, and what do they get? ... nothing.
lock pick mode got introduced, but i have not seen a single covered game with lock pick. cool story.
James "2gd" Harding told phil that the community does not forgive many mistakes or lies, and that hontour better be the amazing thing that he is calling out all day long, and it used to be ready in march (only few things should be made but once hontour is out no one is gonna play diablo 3 again, that were phil's words). now its end of june, still no sign of hontour.
and besides all of that: Xander promised that the s2 staff will be far more active with the community, tweeting stuff and giving out information of the direction of hon. what happened to that? Xanders Blog on tumblr has not been updated for 3 month, no information about whats going on after dreamhack.
i am dissapointed.

LOL owned. HoN comp scene is dying fast, really sad as I loved the game. Their Pay to play model just couldnt compete with LoL's F2P and by the time they finally fixed it Dota 2 came out and made there F2P model even better. I cant see anyway they can make this game huge in the comp scene again.

grand poobah is not possible for the majority of the na/eu teams and its the finals this week so nothing to compete in
there is only 1 tournament and that is Play RaidCall Hon Cup #3

yeah at he beginning of june he responded to a guy who was asking why nobody from s2 answers to his questions regarding running a tournament with the answer that the mail tournaments@s2games.com is not beeing checked atm. at the end of june he answers that he did not even knew the mail existed. you tell me whats wrong here?

Most of the people complaining are just angry/disappointed. This is a random Thursday and this is the game choice available on a non released game, not even big tournaments, just ladders and series :

There are some quality games in there and there will be tomorrow and the day after, every day in the week you can see some good games. What does have HoN have today? Khezzu streaming some scrims....... you have to admit that the HoN scene is in one of the worst states ever. Regardless of a big tournament, there are 8 hours in a working day and it is pretty disappointing that the Competitive Director of this game cannot manage to change his email address on the website in 200 working hours.

I would like to watch some HoN games, but instead I will have to watch a different game.

Nothing against you Phil, you are a smart guy but in my opinion you are not doing enough for an "the director of e-sport" (what a jerk name)
There are so many options what you can do or organis like..

2 official Tournaments every week with a prizepool like:
1. 250€ + 5.000Gold Coins
2. 5.000 Gold Coins
3. 2.500 Gold Coins
+ each tourney give points
1. 100 Points
2. 50 Points
3. 25 Points
4. 10 Points
5. 5Points

After the 8 Tourney's we will have a Monthly Final with the best 8 Teams (Pointswise) with a pool like..
1. 1.000€ + 5.000 Gold Coins
2. 500€ + 3.000 Gold Coins
3. 250€ + 2.000 Gold Coins
4. 1.000 Gold Coins
with the 8 best teams you can do group stage like Bo1 everyone plays each other 2best teams go up or whatever.

Maybe the Big Clans will not attend because they play for money and 250€ is maybe to low but alot of "casual" or "1700-1800" teams will attend.

I mean Gold Coins is a virtual currency you dont have to pay or work for it you press a button and generate billion of coins. So give it away... or is it a game changing moment when you give 5 players 5.000gold coins so when it get splitted it is 1.000gold coins for 5people. is this a ruin for s2? i guess no.
Also for the coverage you can take some ambitious casters like a Peterpandam, Megabeaver, Khezu whatever.

So that was 1 idea in 5min for no money. and when you go inside of you and think about it you will have like 2-3other ideas about a tourney.
I myself was an admin in an other game with 3 other guys and we brainstormed alot about new tourney what can we do, what financial means do we have to make it look better etc etc etc.
I mean you guys have atleast Gold/Silver Coins that is something with what you can work. Giveaways... Gold Coin Cup.. #1 10.000gold coins = 2.000 for each player.
That is something what we did not have

But ok thats it.. my 2 cents..

at this point it does not matter if total pricepool is 10.000$ or 270.000$ because it won't change anything except s2 investing money where it does not matter.
in march/april phil said he had done all the work he could do, at that point it was not in his hands anymore and it should come soon once some legal issues with some contrys are fixed. but i guess he is hard working on hontour 5 days a week that he is too busy to change the mailadress.

after f2p and that new players have to buy heroes + limited hero pool, the competitive scene of hon was left to die. you have to use a f2p model like dota does or be simply retarded huge like lol, otherwise it wont work.
What i dont get it that ppl cry over it. It was a smart move of S2, cause it generated lots of money, ppl love to play this game f2p and cosmetics are doing great (and some of them are quite awesome). Sure i still dont get how someone can pay for a colored name, but as long as the customer is happy, so be it.

So if s2 made this a good causual game , which can be played (besides missing heroes ,but u can earn them step by step, even if it takes years) for free and they are happy with it, so why arent you? It simply isnt a esport game, and i dont think it will be much balancing done for it (acutally never was. Tankcarry and bursty bursty so much fun).
As a causal game its great, so let it be. A f2p game doesnt need a esports scene to live. There are a SHITLOAD of players online playing HON and have no ****ing clue what moomeander or dreamhack is. Wanna esport? play sc2 oder dota 2. But stop complaining.
