I created a simple guide for those who wish to have Alternate Avatars switched for original.
Understanding this guide provides insight to fixing bugs from other modders' modifications.
-Basically What Aizen has been doing (Switching Alts only)
-Doesn't show you howto change taunts and couriers. (although this does open doors for you to do yourself)

If you are having trouble Changing Ability Sounds, Here is an example of what i did and how it should look like. These are two methods you can do it by.


Method 1: Re-Routing Sound to Shaka Nomad (1st Skill and Ult)

sure, Shaka Nomad Already Uses Nomad Default first skill, but just a different sound. Ability 1 has its own "sounds" folder. and inside is the cast.ogg and and impact.ogg. In
Shaka Nomad's Folder. He has his own Sounds file. Inside you will see:

castab1.ogg Copy and Paste this to Ability 1 sounds. Rename "casab1.ogg" to "cast.ogg" That way it will load of Shaka Nomad's First Ability

IF you do this method, Nomadin's 1st Ability Will also sound like Shaka Nomad. Because Nomadin Loads Nomad's Default Skills

I'm not sure how Shaka Nomad Ult sounds like. But when you look inside his Sounds folder. Is "vox_4.ogg" the ult sound? IF it is, Do the same method and copy and paste this skill over to Ability 4 Sounds Folder replacing "cast3.ogg"
so Rename and overwrite "vox_4.ogg" to "cast3.ogg"

This is one way to do it. Make Sure you keep your "Sounds" Folder Intact. You have to have it Same place where original file was. Overwriting it.




OR

You can go to to Ability 1 > Effects > State_gadget.effect and edit it
Replace the sample sounds file and re-route address to Shaka Nomad's File like this
sample="../sounds/cast.wav"
sample="/heroes/nomad/alt2/sounds/castab1.wav" <--- re-routed to Shaka Noma's File


Do this same method with ability 4. Rerouting Cast3.ogg to shaka nomad's Address.

This method uses less space (Only uses notepad++)

Are you sure? That's what i did, and it's still... Not working. I mean, if even swapping the soundfiles doesn't work.. S2 help us all.

Edit: Also, you don't need to change the model.mdf UNLESS the animations is spazzing out.

really? interesting...

If you Swap Sound files, you have to restart hon so it loads it up.
Unless you just edited and re-routed address in the .effect file, it should work.

I'll upload my version soon


if you are just Re-Routing the address, If you hear no sound, that means you re-routed incorrectly.

OK i confirmed it works. So i will Upload the Two method in Zipped files so you can see what i did.

Method 1: Re-Routing Sound to Shaka Nomad

Confirm this worked for you as well onec you tried it. Remember to Delete any old Nomad Mods you have, it may interrupt with testing.

Thank you again i will try , 1 more question i did arachna new avatars it works well everything is good but on pick screen seems dafult its not problem but how can i fix this :D

This is Fixed by Keeping and editing the "preview.mdf" File.

It shows an Animation clip right? Then just Re-Route the Animation to the Alt and done.

yeah.

OK, so in Magmar's Ability 4 Folder. Go to Effects and edit Start.effect (magmar\ability_04\effects). You want to Reroute the Sound of Cast2 to Magmoose cast sound in the sounds folder. (magmar\alt2\sounds)

Basically.

This is Magmar's start.effect

You will also find a start_alt.effect. That is Magmoose file. If you look inside, you can see the address, that is where i got it. Or you can trial and error it

your solution its what i had in mind but there come out another issue. the regular magmus gets changed too since scorpion mag takes the sound from original one...

In that case, you could just copy the Ult sound from default magmus and paste into the alt. That way Scorp loads up the cast sound only. You cant re route that. You need to copy and paste sound directly into scorpion.

Try that

So, Copy and paste Ability 4>Sounds> All Casts sounds
Paste into Alt Directory.

If you do this, make sure you restart hon.

I haven't made a guide for that yet.

BUT you could download Aizens Taunt Files and check out what he did. Also check out what folder he used.

wow thats right :D i find a way to do it i guess checked aizens taunt and simple but i need to check this in game while change something its not possible o.o dont wanna more question but 1 more thing i can do alts but for example nomad i did everything well first skill ulti sound model etc. but its not working after clean up. "resourcesShakanomad.s2z" its back to normal. ( sorry my english i know bad ): \(._.)/

Hmm. Well I How exactly did you do. Reply your steps here please.

This might answer your question. Your s2z File is probably compressed improperly.
Create a "heroes" folder. Put your "nomad" files inside the heroes folder.

Right click on "heroes" folder. Send to Compressed Zipped File.
After Its Done Compressing. Change The Extension to .s2z

If you are using Winrar. MAKE SURE you have a version BELOW 4.0

Also. Try renaming you file to Resources_ShakaNomad.s2z (Sometimes naming differently it corrects the load) <---not 100% sure

Remember to DELETE any nomad mods you have JUST in case to Narrow down the problems.

TBH this doesn't work.,
I tried to make engineer alt avatar. Opened game, practice mode, picked engineer, test++ -->more options--->ticked option you said. I opened winrar, extracted to D/games/hon/heroes folder (my own folder) . Then opened hero.entity via notepad++ which I downloaded. I changed the model on all the ways (/alt2/ ..alt2/ ../alt2/ heroes/alt2/ ..heroes/alt2/ ../heroes/alt2/ ..heroes/engineer/alt2/ ../heroes/engineer/alt2/ etc) and saved notepad, opened practice mode and engineer was this default engineer. What have I done wrong??

TBH this doesn't work.,

please be Specific and Detailed on what steps you used and what you wrote down. Take a screen shot of your hero.entity if you like and i will help.

I opened notepad++ and found the line with model="XXXX" and I changed it to model="alt2/XXX.mdf" and as you said, I should now see uncle sam engineer instead of default engineer, but it doesn't work

I used it and : icon, model, voices works well, but changed only keg explode effect, turret model, rest didnt work, i mean keg model, turret color bullets, ultimate

first changing nomad.entity models , sounds etc. then your suggest for nomad first skill and ulti top of this topic and then deleting all files except changed files it seems "../heroes/nomad/.." and right click heroes using winrar and changing name "resourcesShakanomad.s2z" also tried " resources_Shakanomad.s2z" and its not working btw my winrar 4.00 maybe thats why not working and there is no nomad mod only my own mod. I tried engi too and same problem here his skills , i cant change tried projectiles for skills ... couldn't o.O

In guide i said to Look into Engineer's Alt for reference as what to Change. I Will walk you through how to change 1st ability.

I Went straight to the alt 2 folder and look what it had inside. It had Ability 1,2,4. This means That they have new effects for this. So i went into Ability 1 folder. Inside is
projectile entity and Effects folder with a model inside. Basically I have to change Engineer's Original's Projectile.entity and reroute it so it uses Alt2 Model and effects.

Open Projectile.entity for original in ability 1 folder.

This is how it should look like when you re route it.

You see how its re routed to alt2 Ability folder. That's what you want

save and done. Ability 1 is done.

do this same thing for ability 2 and 4. Go to Alt2 Folder and see what is inside. Then change in the original.

You see all those .Entity Files in ability 2 folder for alt2? you need to re route all of those in the original if you want it to be legit.

One thing i noticed is that ability 2 for alt2 has Extra files like
projectile_turretburst_white.entity
projectile_turretburst_red.entity
projectile_turretburst_blue.entity

Original only comes with "projectile_turretburst.entity"

You cannot have Same perfect effects. You need to choose of them them if you wish to have the effect.

Worst Comes to Worst. Leave them as folder. The below method mentioned is the best and safest method.
Remember to put you Nomad Folder inside Heroes folder. Not only files.
Heroes>Nomad>Files <---- like that

Do not use winrar then. Just "Right click on "heroes" folder. Send to Compressed Zipped File.
After Its Done Compressing. Change The Extension to .s2z"

Hmmm I got problem. I download Kinesis alt avatar to see how it's compressed and I compressed it to resourcesEngineer.s2z, paste it in hon/game but it doesn't work in practice mode.

Your mod is Packed incorrectly into .s2z file

I extracted and repacked myself, and then it was working.

You didn't see it on practice mode only because it was repacked incorrectly. I assumed you used winrar?

Right click on heroes folder>Send to Zipped Compressed file

Once it's zipped, rename and change extension.

You did a Good job man on switching Alts. GJ :]

If you still have trouble (re-packing) into .s2z format, then unfortunately it is beyond my help. Because, that is the only method i used. I stopped using winrar to re-pack

Same Thing the other guy did incorrectly.

Your file works fine. I extracted and re-packed myself into .s2z format......

Right Click>Send to compressed Zipped Folder> Rename Extension to .s2z format. Done (that's all i do)

If you are STILL having trouble re-packing into .s2z format. It is beyond my help. I suggest you browse forums for a guide how to do it another way. Sorry

But Nice job in Converting Original into Alternative as well :P

Edit:I tried add indicators midas but i only found first skill's
