Revenant would make a fun hero for sure. Slow, area armor debuff, nuke, ???.

Spell1: Scorch (http://savage2.com/en/images/units/revenant_A2N.jpg) - Enchants attack with fire, also gives the hero ranged attack (550) when enabled, dealing damage over time to enemy (special attack like Arachna's slow)
Spell2: Rain of Fire - Deals damage over time to units hit by the rain of fire + slightly reduces armor
Spell3: Defile (http://savage2.com/en/images/units/revenant_A3N.jpg) - Single target nuke, deals true damage, much like Tinker's laser
Ulti: Mortification (http://savage2.com/en/images/units/revenant_A5N.jpg) - Slows target enemy's movespeed for a while, and silences

Yeah, sounds like a perfect candidate considering DotA's name was the LIGHTNING REVENANT.

He had a workout and decided a sword was better = Accursed.
I reckon exezic's model looks pretty nice, though I have next to no experience with dota.

Actually, if you ask me you should make him goblin tinker. Scorch is missile, Defile is laser, give him some sort of fire based thingy to represent march of machines then write some fancy hellish name for re-arm. Tinker is just too good of a hero to leave out.
But to keep things interesting he'd be melee instead of ranged!
