How to make Hon-Mod Models/textures....

Hi,

I am new to mods but I created a couple of cool sound mods and find those to be fun but not very challenging. (Other than finding the select sounds you want.)

I was wandering if anyone knew a guide or had a guide on how to create a texture or model for a mod or knew of any good software to use, etc.
please let me know.
