I mean we've all been noobs to games at one time or another, but at least in most of those games you were presented with opportunities to get accustomed to the game and getting past the learning curve through various means without upsetting (pissing off, causing anguish, etc.) the existing player base with your noob actions and inactions. Why is it that this game has such a poor system in place after being in the market for so long? Meanwhile the rest of us who are not noobs all suffer horribly when teamed up with one or several. I'm not complaining and grumbling here about noobs, as I said we were all noobs at one point, what I'm complaining about is that there is little to no opportunity in this game for noobs to learn the game without being cursed at, cussed at, ban-listed, and possibly lost to HON forever because of mistreatment. Oh sure they have the tutorial to learn the absolute basics, but that's hardly enough to figure things out. A better graduating system I feel would help keep the entire player base on a happier level. I for one know that I grow frustrated with the number of games I play one after the other that are filled with noobs, ultimately leading to loss time and time again - I can except the occassional loss, but it gets seriously bad when you can play literally 20 games in a row and have them all be losses. I can't be the only one in this boat, am I? (is it me, do I suck that bad?)

I mean all noobs see when they login to the game is the big "PLAY NOW" button and that's where they start. My personal opinion is that this button is the cause of the grief. Get rid of it on noob accounts until they have reached "Level 10" by playing in public games where they can actually learn the game. Here's my thoughts on a graduating system:

1. Tutorial: Explain to them that they have to play 10-20 heroes in this mode to practice their last hit skills. Develop games inside the tutorial to teach them how to play the game and have the games hand out silver when they are successful (eg. You successfully last hit 5 creeps in a row, you have earned 5 silver; you have successfully denied 5 creeps in a row you earn 5 silver, etc.). Give them a gold or silver reward once the Tutorial is completed. The tutorial should explain multiple times along the way how to join a public game and should give out lots of gameplay tips. In fact, one of the things I'd like to see is how to use "multiple" Neutral creeps at the same time and tips on how to best use the courier.
2. Public Games: With the tutorial out of the way the player should be familiar with at least a few heroes and their skills, as well as have some noob last hit skills. They can move on to public games, preferably no stats games, but if they choose a stat game that is their choice as long as they are made clear the difference between the two choices - clearly in public stat games people will be able to kick a noob at their whim. Basically at this point the noob player repeats this pattern of behaviour until they reach level 10. Upon reaching level 10 then can get a bonus silver reward (1000 silver too much)?
3. Match Making Games: The player has reached Level 10! Congrats! You should now have the real swing of things and MM games become available to you. Enjoy the rest of your HON experience.

See you on the battlefield!
