I have the same problem. Background:

I formatted my computer for its 6 month maintenance. My OS and my games are on two separate drives. I loaded HoN thinking my settings would be the same as they were before the format. Instead I was greeted with the option under Mods->Health Bar Options->Bar Colors being 'Solid Green/Red'. I quickly reset this to 'Standard Gradient', closed the game and reopened it to make sure it would save. It didn't. I attempted to play with those bar settings to see if I could get used to them. My eyes had trouble seeing the pinkish-red health bars above the enemy towers and creeps. It was greatly distracting and being color blind doesn't help either because there are some spots in the map where I couldn't even see the bars at all. Due to this, I uninstalled the HoN client, deleted all folders associated with it (including C:/Users/(Name)/My Documents/Heroes of Newerth) and made sure all registry of the game was removed from my machine. I rebooted my machine and did a brand new install of the game. I was given the same result: 'Solid Green/Red' health bars. There is no option to save what gradient I wish to have. I have no after market mods installed.

Now, to be honest this mod (which comes with HoN so it's stock) should have only 2 options. 'Standard Gradient' and 'Color Picker'. Option two would allow you to pick what colors you want for Allies and Enemies and would solve the color blind issues for everyone, but that's another topic altogether.

In any case, the bars won't save and this issue is not repairable by:

1) Formatting
2) Uninstall/Reinstall
3) Deleting the C:/Users/(Name)/My Documents/Heroes of Newerth folder and then restarting the client.

Due to this, my thoughts are that the issue was caused by a recent patch and is on S2's end. Please repair this bug.

Honestly, I can not reproduce this.

Yes, APPLY is greyed out but the OK button works just fine and the changes were visible in game even after a restart.

Necrothic, I am wondering why you would be trying to reproduce it. Your tag says 'Netherlands' which tells me that by default you don't work at S2 since they're based in the US, specifically in Rohnert Park, CA (their HQ) Kalamazoo, MI (their satellite office). Furthermore I don't see an S2 tag by your name. Honestly I am pretty insulted because I feel like you're calling myself and the OP liars and saying 'deal with it'.

Since you pointed it out, though: Yes, the 'ok' button works and the setting saves for the duration that the client is open. You can even log in and out. HOWEVER when you CLOSE the client, it defaults back to 'Solid Green/Red'. I have tried simply going into a game and also checked the settings right away. Either way it keeps defaulting to that. The issue is with the health bar options mod that comes default with a patch update.

Brokkr, I'm sorry for the confusion. I don't know how you came to such a strong conclusion but nowhere have I ever pretended to be a staff member or even a moderator for that sake. Also, I can assure you, the intention of my post was not to insult you/_Scars_ or call you liars.

All I said was that I personally was unable to reproduce this. That doesn't mean there is no bug though. There are quite a few bugs that are hard to reproduce because of the simple fact that there is not enough documentation on the bug itself. All it means is that I wont be of much help in this thread since I don't have this problem and am unable to reproduce it.

Again, I apologize for the confusion.

sometimes people will come to the bug reports section and help the staff by trying to reproduce it. you shouldn't be offended that someone was attempting to HELP you. i've also done it or when people say "match id ###### somewhere between 20-45 mins in, this bug happens", i'll go look for the exact time stamp to help.

I see. Well now I feel like a jerk. Not used to people in this community actually wanting to help.

lemme explain it, i just solved this prob last night
if the file "startup.cfg" in "Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game" have a string like "SetSave "ui_altInfoStyle" "1""
then this bug wont appear

but by deleting "startup.cfg", the new one automatic generate by HoN wont have that string, then bug appears.

Nice. So I'll go find that file and edit it.

Fixed. I inserted the line and it repaired the problem. I am sure it's also possible to do this in a live game with the control f8 command too. Thanks Xvain. You guys should move this to the 'fixed' section now. :)
