You install the game in a custom path instead of ...program files (x86)/heroes of newerth or ...program files/heroes of newerth (on 36 bit)?
Installing HoN to a custom path will not cause this.
This is caused by missing models either by an incomplete install, corrupt install or mods (trying to use stump mod by any chance?)
Either way not an actual client bug but a userside specific bug.
Please re-install, remove all mods and try again. If it persists please consider opening a techsupport ticket
