We challenged you and the community delivered! In honor of the HoNiversary, the community was charged with a monumental task: playing 1.1 million games in just five days. You ended up with a little extra time but it didn't even matter. You guys responded and went above and beyond. Not with 300,000 games played. Not with 700,000. Not even with 1.1 million!

The final tally for the Global Challenge was.... 1,565,587 games played!!!!!

Simply amazing. The goal of 1.1 million games was actually reached early on Friday but you guys kept on trucking and crushed the goal by over 400,000 games! Congratulations to all! Now, for the prizes, which will be handed out tomorrow, May 15th.


1.1 million games: Steampunk Electrician AND Electrician Hero (for Basic and Verified players)
700,000 games: Kongor Taunt
300,000 games: Kongor Kourier

Assuming we can win... The game would be overly saturated with those items since all the active players will probably play at least one game. There should be more prizes for people who play more (like someone already mentioned, incentive for more than 1 game), otherwise the items just become commonplace, overused and uninteresting. I like the initial idea tho and I look forward to playing lots... which I already do.

Great marketing stunt S2. Get awesome traffic by adding 1-3 small avatars/taunt which prolly takes a few hours for your staff to create. I am a HUGE HoN supporter, and I love S2, but for the love of God why must you punish the HoN faithful each year on your birthday??? Last year the game went free to play, creating a swarm of new players with absolutely no idea how to play and making the game painful to play for weeks. Now we have this gimmick leading to the mindset seen above which will cause more games to be ruined. There needs to be a better way or a safegaurd against this behavior. I personally would rather not tank my MMR to earn an avatar I'd be willing to pay for.

So there will be 24 games played by each of the 50K players, but each game takes 10 players, so 5000X24 = 120,000

Let's double that amount since the games last more like 30minutes average (I'd assume) and there are more players, also 3v3s etc..

That's easily over 240k games played a day.

So reaching 1,1m should be easy?

Let's say that we are going to reach 70 000 players at the same time for 24h. Its gonna be hard but possible ;)
lets divide it by 10 (5v5 games only) = 7000
lets say 40 minutes of match is average. So its 7 000 games throughout every 40 minutes.
(24h * 60min)/40min will give us 36
36 times 7 000 is 252 000 matches a day.
So it will take us 4.36 days to get 11 000 000
So.. yea.. it gonna happen ;)

set average game lasts about 30 min

70 000 (players) / 10 (players a game) = 7 000 (games in 30 min)

Hmmm.... I did the math, and it seems pretty damm hard!

Let's say that we play 5 games in 3 hours (each game lasts 36min). Let's also consider that the community has 200.000 players that play 3 hours each day. And finnaly, only 5v5 games.

This gives us the following: 200.000/10=20.000 matches. 20.000*5= 100.000 games per day. Now, we have 5 days = 500.000 games..... Only half way there. Considering we'll be doing it IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK, WHEN PEOPLE ARE WORKING AND HAVE NO TIME TO PLAY, the math above seems pretty oversized to the actual ammount.

Of course it all depends on how many active players the community has. Saying we have 1.000.000 active players *laughs*, each person has to play about 10 games. Now, back to the start of my post, 5 games/h; in other words, we have to play a total of 10h. WOOT! We have 5 days to play it = 2h per day. AND, we working/studying/taking a trip to europe/whatever at that time. AND assuming EVERYONE is playing.

Guys, this means the following: 1)we can only play casual; statistics show that casual mode games are almost exactly 5 min shorter the normal games (forgot which s2 member said that). 2)we can only play 3v3, for obvious reasons. 3) ALL matches must have these teams: tempest+keeper+wild soul VS any 2 heroes+bh (team pusher team pushes, bh gives the attack buff to then.

1) PLAY 1 MMR game with your main/sub/alt which ever you want the prize on.

2) Teamup with TWO or FOUR friends. All of you create ONE NEW ACCOUNT. This means that there are three/five new accounts.

3) You 3 with the new accounts enter a MMR match and CC 15 immiedently.

= 4 games a day in an hour aka 12 since you're being 3 or 20 if 5. That's the only way we can make it.

You are forgeting a few important variables in your math :

a) Game gets either 10 players or 6 so its kinda 6 or 10 games per game if you get what i mean ;.
b) number of players online.

Lets say it is 100000 player/account thats playing games every day

1100000/100000 = 11
11/7 = 1.57

That gives that every player/account needs to play 11 games these days.
Or 1.57 games every day.

Won't happen... too many negative factors to consider. Being said... it will be nearly impossible, and you'd be lucky enough just to get the minimal prize. My guess is it's just an incentive to get people playing more, as they have no risk of anything other than the courier.

What would be cool is if the Kongor taunt was actually Kongor taunting people before he killed them, not a hero taunt.

Did some simple math on this, but the result was kind of confusing (math isn't my strongest side).

1,1 milion games

I rounded the results of to avoid too many decimals.


If the average game lasted 30 minutes it would be

(steampunk reward) 1100000*30= 33000000 minutes

33000000/60 = 550000 hours

550000/24 = 22917 days

22917/7 = 3274 weeks

52 week a year

3274/52 = 63 years

63/5 = 12,5 years

So this concludes that the whole community will have to play an average of 12,5 years of gametime per day?

Biggest error in there? Multiplying a number based on time with a number not based on time. Look at the post a bit above yours for some actually thought out math that makes sense. understand the basics before trying the difficult stuff

I can not answer this as i have not been home to try and play any TMM. Maybe post this question in the Tech support forum and let S2 know. If this is happening to more then just your que, and there is a server issue on S2's side, then they need to fix the issue and extend how long we have to hit the 1.1mil mark deadline. Other then that i would need to know what options you have set for your TMM. Is it set for Casual Mode? or Normal? do you only have All Pick or Single Draft or more options then one? these are the things S2 would need to know. Also how many people are you queuing up with?

It is not that obvious. For the VJ Raptor Alt we were given VJ for free in order to be able to use the Alt. We have had no word that S2 will be giving us the original Taunt in a similar manner. I'd rather not spend the coins if it's just going to be free tomorrow and there's no guarantee of reimbursement.
