First off I tried searching for this topic, but couldn't find it so if there's one already made I am sorry.
Currently there's a depressingly large number of post available for view on the forums about the cost of items in the shop, and while some of it is mindless raging it can also be said there's some amount of truth in it. Take for example the last game I played.
It was a Casual Mode game.
It lasted almost 48 minutes, and at the end I earned 7 silver coins.
I did lose this particular game, and had I won I would have instead received 14 silver coins.
But let's take an average instead. My average CM, or NM game last according to my stats a little over 30 minutes. This is data from thousands of games.
Let's assume with my 50% win rate (I'm amazing I know) that I win, and lose 1 game per hour as an average over time. This means I earn on average around 12-25 silver coins an hour (depending on if I play with friends, or if I'm on a consecutive winning streak, or what have you). At this rate it would take me about 120-250 hours of playing Hon for me to afford one of the higher priced items in the shop. For most casual players who only play a few games a night due to other commitments this represents a huge investment of time possibly several months.
Don't get me wrong. I"m not averse to people purchasing coins, or to making people play the game. I love this game, and have been playing since beta, and I know S2 needs to make a profit. I've also purchased almost everything that can be gotten with silver coins that's under 1000, but what I am saying is that people need a goal they can look forward to getting in a timely manner. The horse eventually gets the carrot when the cart ride is done right?
To briefly show an example from another game called "World of Warcraft". There are 2 tiers of items currently in the game for pvp. One can be bought with basic honor points, which people accrue through every day pvp. Higher level arenas, award conquest points which can be turned in for even better gear. We'd assume then that your average laymen couldn't get the higher level gear since he doesn't have the time to devote to an arena team, correct? No. The first victory of the day in a normal battleground gives the players conquest points. In this way even someone who's lacking in time can log on, and win a battleground, get conquest points, and be done in the hour, and be closer to a new piece of gear. I believe this could work with the current game for S2.
My suggestion is thus this:
Replace the Silver Coins Awarded for "First victory of the day", and instead award players with 10 gold coins for only their first win of the day.
Not only does this help people feel like they're making progress towards an alt avatar they've been wanting, but it also helps with those threads we see every time an EA hero comes out. The "I need 4 more gold coins for this hero plz giv S2". In this way they can simply play a game and get their own coins. This method also takes time as well. It would still take at least a month to get 300 gold coins, and that's only if they logged in to play, and win everyday. Even assuming they do it's a good thing for S2, as it keeps more people coming back day after day, but they have a goal that doesn't seem insurmountable. It'd be a lot easier on peoples minds to think "oh hey I only need 90 more gold coins", rather than "well I got 8 silver coins for that match so only 2172 to go!"
TL:DR- Replace the Silver Coins Awarded for "First victory of the day", and instead award players with 10 gold coins for only their first win of the day. For lots of reasons.
