Hello all :-)

My idea is for HoN to contain in-game tournaments, just like the ones we saw in WC3 RC/TFT. For those of you who don't know what they're about, it's basically tournaments you can sign up for in-game, just like match making.

The matches should all be bo1, and you will be knocked out when you lose a match.

They could be everything from 5v5 to 3v3, 2v2 and maybe even 1v1's.

Pricepools could be something like a few 100's of Gold Coins for the winners, and some silvers for second place. No more than that needed. Heck, it could even be only silvercoins on the line.
Also, unlocking an Account Icon would be great, but optional.

A special tournament stat-page could also be a great option, however it would not be necessary - a total count of tournament-wins would do.

Preferably these would be hold every day, since they wont contain a lot of work.

Feedback appreciated,
Cheers Money_igot0

Edit: The poll-question is of course supposed to be implemented, not implented. Pardon my type-o

tournaments are a community thing, hon players just dont get that. The developer doesnt run nor supply the prizepool, the community does that.

I'm afraid you've misunderstood the concept :-)
It's by no means about the pricepools, nor is it a replacement for the regular tournaments.
It's knock-out tournaments you sign up for when they start, and is played out in a few hours of constant games - no more than 5 min breaks.

It's basically free scrimming for everyone, with the bonus that you advance whenever you win a match.

As much as tourneys definitely is something spawned by the community, there's nothing wrong with the developer of their own game fostering their own tournament for the sake of exposure i.e. Valve.

Hell yeah, nothing wrong with every day 1 tournamet and prize pool = 500 gold coins for nr1 250gold coins for nr2 100g for nr3 and 4th get a small prize like 200 silver orso. what wrong with that idea? it stimulate people and its a small prize. but thats my opinion.

Have thought about that a LOT lately !

Thats a freaking AWSOME idea!

Imagine you log in, and check wut "online ingame tournment" you can play.

You sign your team, in the same way you can invite your friends to MM queue.

Once signed, and the brackets are all done, the time for each match should be set, and a warning for "when is your next tournment match" would be floating in the screen.

People signed into tournments wouldn`t be abble to play match making matches while the tournment was still going, just to prevent people playing TMM when they had to playing the official match.

This tournments could finish in 3, 4 hours, depending on the number of teams.

There wouldn`t be necessary for no reviewing of results, no sending match ID for a "judge" nothing like that, cause the game database should be the one to save the results.

And that OPENS a lot of intertaining stuff, like an Oficial Tournament Calendar, with bigger tourns in especific dates, and smaller tourns happening more often.

ANy more ideas? Where should we be abble to discuss this more detailed?

Good idea.

Because I am very sure lots of players wants to try out what a real competitive play is but their real life sometimes just don't allow them to go out to specific area just for the tournament.

+1 i would love to have people make more teams instead of the few clans there are over all the players.

my idea then is to make some chat channels that give people the chance to meet each other or to join clans or teams.
this also gives the chance for existing clans to meet new members as well as to request people for a tournament if they need 1 or 2 more players.
