in dota you could choose scourge heroes in ap if you were on sentinel
can you do the same for HoN?
can anyone write up a guide for game modes and who uc an choose in each game mode, or how you choose plz

make sure 'all heroes' is selected.

all the options on the create game page are your game modes to be chosen, there are a number of options if you open the "advanced" section as well
to be sure you can select heroes from opposite teams you wants "all heroes" selected as insanechef said, this would be the equivalent of ap but it's also good to select the option even if you're playing the other modes ar, rd, sd because I'm not too sure it will take them into consideration for you itself...I could be wrong, but rd should be safe without it because it will choose a group of heroes for both teams but sd might not be so pick it anyway to be safe
for a list of heroes you can choose as each team I point you towards one of the many lists already in production but I cannot be bothered to get a link right now
