Abyssal skull

This is mostly aimed at newer players and I'm sure someone will disagree with this:

Please, do not make this one of the first "big" items you get, the money spent on it can be used in so many better ways.

It is also rather useless early game, as the real part of the %age based damage add comes into play later(as do all %age based things), you won't benefit a lot from it early, it also makes your lane push(which you don't want early, usually).

For the 2kish build process you can get:

x2 Strength bracelets= 12 strenght, 6 agi/int. This is better for your overall survivability early, every hero needs HP especially early, also, it costs x2 less.

Now you have 1k left, you can easily spend this on a bunch of other things like:

Major totem/Belt of str(if you're making steam boots)

Gloves/Dagger(if you're making phase)

Strength axe(if you're making BKB or hack)

Of course, theres a load of other items you can get, they will in most cases work WAY better than the abyssal early game.

i love it with wildsoul to get skull after 2x hatchet + buckler

the mana regen is ok but the lifesteal and dmg is awesome for this level for forestfarming

I like to get it on magebane, but I prefer whispering helm (wolf commander owns). Magebane needs early life steal so he can start farming jungle early.

I like getting abbysal skull early for Warbeast jungling, because it effects both him and his wolves thus helping him survive and jungle.

Standard array is 1xBuckler and 1x Hatchet on Booboo, and 1xHatchet on Wildsoul.

Buying lifesteal for the sole purpose of "farming" in the neutrals is bad; many new players do this but it is simply not efficient. Farming in a lane nets you far more gold. Spending 900+ gold to be able to autoattack your way through some neuts is not efficient at all. I MIGHT buy it on Warbeast since I take a Ring of the Teacher for jungling anyway; otherwise there are no heroes I would get it on.

Also a tip for the noobs is if you are going to build this let everyone on your team know early on, there is really no need having more than 1 of these on a team, the auras don't stack, having 2 or 3 is just a waste of money. If someone already has this item then just get a whispering helm.

Abyssal skull's lifesteal does not exclude other lifesteals, as it is an aura and it is melee-only. It therefore stacks with any melee heroe's lifesteal from another source. With whispering helm, therefore, on a melee hero, you can achieve huge lifesteal.

I agreed with the people vouching for Abyssals' for woods heroes, since the hero often has some kind of minions, Wildsoul got his little sweet bear, Warbeast got a bunch of wolves etc. But aren't we talking about newbies here? 90% of them don't have any idea of how to farm the woods anyways, so why not just say that Abyssal's is OFF LIMITs? :)

better buy tube of life from secretshop and then buy manatube and make suspencer. If u want early game help <3 if its melee hero u can upgrade it later to make runedaxe, if you are intell u can make sacrifical, if you have good aoe ulti refresher, and if you have trouble of getting out of nukes the wut is called in hon(linkens) on dota.

Linkens and battlefury are both pubbash heros.
Linkens is just a poormans skardi.
Battlefury is a farming item that costs more then the average nub knows how to make.

I just loled. So. Linkens is trash yes?
No it isnt. Its a situational item thats very viable against a lineup.

Battlefury also. Works on some who have AoE dmg. The splash is pure dmg. Meaning it goes through armor and resistance.

Please dont be a stereotypical wannabe pro and say items suck. There is NO trash item in the game. They are all situational.

There are some items that need buffs (Hack n Slash) but no **** tier items.

You also get a neat party wide %age based damage aura that scales through the game, since its well, %age based. :>

Its not a bad item, abyssal is a good item, its just not one of the first items you get on heroes, because it offers virtually nothing early on and is actually counter-productive to your (lane) farming(keeps pushing your lane)

Abyssal early is good if you plan on soloing Kongor with Warbeast/Wildsoul, otherwise, there are far better options.
Besides, you shouldn't be even farming in the woods mid game with Warbeast(hence no aura), you either send one of your pets to scout around or send both to clear camps while you are farming the lane/ancients/twiddling your thumbs. :>

The only hero that should really get abyssal skull nowadays is Warbeast because he needs the early mana regen and armor from basilus to jungle earlier on and the lifesteal is also important for jungling later on. Lategame a hero with nothing better to do can get it for the aura, but usually there are much better things to do with the gold. Lifesteal in general is extremely overrated, it's not powerrful against anything other than creeps until very late in the game.
