Suky's Quick Start Game Button

About this mod:

Ever tired of locking 3 or 4 buddies in team? Click the Auto Balance? Click the Start Game Button? Then 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. "Somenoob has disconnected". :mad:
And you have to do all over again? Sometime it's really annoying, so that is why I created this mod.

If you are host the button gonna look like this:

So how this button gonna work?

(click the button...)
First it gonna lock all you and your buddies,
Auto Balance Teams,
Finally Start the Game.

And what if "Somenoob has disconnected"?
It gonna unlock (your buddies slots only),
and you just have to click the button again.

Easy?

I looked at the code, all it does is lock friends, autobalance, unlock, then "simulate" a click on the start button. It doesn't take out the timer or anything. I'm not totally for this because it tries to hide the fact that you're playing with friends with this mod. Not really fair in my opinion.

I have to say I'm not a fan either. I personally don't mind going up a team of friends, but the fact is you're deceiving the enemy team into thinking that the teams are balanced when in fact they're not.

Buddies only. It checks if the slots are buddies, then locks and ABs.

There's not really anything wrong with not locking your buddies, people have a considerable amount of time to check stats while in a lobby. You can use your mic just as effectively as a group of friends can. I am curious though, What does this mod do if you have 6 buddies in the one game?

includes a much better coded version of the honmod, PM'd Suky the link but he hasn't posted it. works perfectly with any changes the game might throw at you in case their coding changes and the only file that has to be updated in the file he wrote himself.

includes a much better coded version of the honmod, PM'd Suky the link but he hasn't posted it. works perfectly with any changes the game might throw at you in case their coding changes and the only file that has to be updated in the file he wrote himself.

all it needs is a description and icon and that's it.

to answer your questions:
1. yes; locks you and anyone on your buddy list, autobalances, unlocks you and anyone on your buddy list, starts game...all within a second.
2. then lock them prior to hitting the button. the mod will not unlock them, they will stay locked

a better feature would be what you already mentioned, remembering existing locks and clan mate locks.

i understand the negativity circulating around this mod and yes it can be used for good and evil. even in the 1600+ bracket where it's not really pubstomping anymore it's viable since people don't like to go up against a coordinated team of friends whether it be 3, 4 or even 5 usually which means it could delay time in which you and your friends get to play or prevent it entirely. this rectifies that :)

ofc evil would be what i just mentioned and it's the most obvious, pubstomping. then again i would highly suggest getting picklefish' quick stats in lobby and check everyone's stats before continuing on with the game cuz even if they are friends they may be just flat out terrible :P

read the newest version changelog. that's pretty fair, if you don't see random locks that weren't there within 5 seconds...then i dont think you have the reaction time or thought process to play this game

Also was hard to get a game started when one of your friends is 1800 PSR, while the rest of you are 14-16xx and the other team cries imba stacking and wanted autobalance so they might stand a chance on the other team % wise.

Changes made were legit for those who QQ, but I think he should and does have the right to leave the old version with auto unlock before starting as an option. It's hardly a cheat. Someone could build a macro to do the same thing on auto-it and such, and chances are someone has, and uses it. This mod simply works like automating mouse movement to quickly lock/autobalance/unlock.

im glad some people with brains actually posted a reply to this. got real annoying to see people not being able to sleep at night, crying on their keyboard/corner/etc. because from what they were doing it made it sound like this mod adds god-mode, maphack, speed hack, gold hack, and the ability to 1-shot other heroes :X

This just makes it easier for scrub hosts. The ones who bring 3-4 friends to a bunch of pubs so they can stomp people for stats/PSR and only lock right before they start the game, so as to disguise how many people they are bringing along.

T-down based solely on that. Scrubs should have to redo everything all by themselves.

That's right. I changed the mod as soon as ppl said it's unfair and blah blah blah. Howmany of you guys got the 1st version? As I know only few people actually downloaded it.

I got the first version and I'm keeping it. I don't actually ever play with friends, and if I do, its either 2v2 or 3v3. So this mod isn't really that useful to me. But, I still keep it out of principle and because I think its a good mod :)

I've also still got the old version, edited it a little so that it if a friend is locked it won't unlock, ab and lock that slot again. My version just ab's and then unlocks that slot.

That would be a problem with the actual mod.xml code (instructions for modman).

I just checked the mod.xml code, and it's cause because of this line:

<find><instance name="cc_rightclick_menu2" menu_name="chat_userlist_rtclick" /></find>

There should be <![CDATA[ ]]> tags around the instance code, like this:


<find><![CDATA[<instance name="cc_rightclick_menu2" menu_name="chat_userlist_rtclick" />]]></find>

Yeah, since it's XML any < and > will be interpreted as further tags and not as text as one would want to when searching for a string of text. Either put it in a CDATA element as Max is suggesting or replace every < with &lt; and every > with &gt;

Ignorance is making an anti-mod for this. Basically just sends a message in All for each player that was locked and unlocked like this mod does.
