True story,
lol i selected that OpenGl thing and now my game wont open at all -__- sigh but yea stil no fix for this ? been having this problem for over 2 weeks now getting depressing load game find a game pick a hero crash.. load again get in game crash... load again get in game first team fight crash.. then i can play the hole game fine then at the end i crash again...

since last patch my game is crashing like a baws. here is what happens: i start HoN then i finish one game and i want to play another one so i join another server and this is when the game is crashing, closing
also i got a strange error a few days ago: "not enough memory" or smth like that
this is strange since my nvidia 260GTX has 890MB memory, not counting the 2 GB on the MB
and my screen is 19" and resolution 1024x768 so not so much memory to use

Hey, my friend just got his new PC, so I asked him to try out HoN, so he downloaded and installed, but asoon as he starts it, he just crashes...

I have a MAC and i just upgraded my RAM today from 2GB to 8GB and the problem is still there. it is actually worst now. Crashes during game instead of after every game.

i crash sometimes:
after i click disconnect on a finished game
when i load a game
randomly during a game, it surely has bad timing too like when im about to collide or when im running to save a team mate.
but i do tend to just randomly crash even when just walking around.

I have had crashes and all kind of graphic bugs. I installed 64 bit Windows 7 and suddenlz all vanished. No crashes no bugs. Try it. Its worth the time.

OMG they still haven't fixed this? I deleted this game 2 months ago when it started happening and came back curious to forums to see that it still persists hahahah
hon was honestly PERFECT around release, but they've ****ed this game up so hard with s2 heroes and whatnot, now they'll lose all they had

What exactly are “crash dumps” and “console.log” files and where do you find them?

The problem is S2's engine not being efficient in using memory. They rushed it and never bothered to fix it from day 1 of beta and now it's finally catching up with them as they add more content. Doesn't matter what type of computer you have, it WILL crash.
Only way of fixing this issue is actually revamping the engine and that will take awhile. Months at least to find the issue, and weeks to fix it.
You guys know the main problem, stop looking for a quick-fix-it route and do it right. Fix what needs to be fixed from the get go and this would have never happened.

Hey, my hon crashing got fixed when i changed the DirectX thingy to OpenGL. Yesterday i got a new graphics card and i cant run hon in OpenGL mode for some odd reason, it always crashes after i pick a hero. With DirectX mode on i can play it but i have a strong feeling that it starts the 5 crashes per game **** again. Anything i could do to get this working on OpenGL mode??

I am having a problem with me crashing randomly when i get into some MM games, it only happens if i minimize the game normally, but its getting annoying as i miss the character selection half the time because when the game loads up it shows that i have 496652545852 seconds to rejoin the game, but it wont let me.
Any idea?

Since the new patch at the end of the picking phase/ the start of the game, Hon crashes and every time I rejoin the game it crashes again a few seconds after I've loaded. It does this a few times then it comes up with an error saying the host has banned me from the game (but its mm so there is no host). 1 more disconnect and I wont be able to play no leaves games. all my DC's are due to hon crashes!

Today I tried to play many matches and always after the choice of hero I get disconnected whenever I try to relog in the game the message "no response from server" or "try to connect later" appears.
I took 2 or 3 disconnects because of it.

the latest patch was just released and the update would not complete. I tried several times to make sure I could re-produce the incident. I uninstalled the game and downloaded the 2.5.5 exe installer for HoN. Upon attempting to install I ran across a number of errors which include:
Error opening file for writing
file_path/Heros of Newerth/hon.exe\
abort retry ignore
if you ignore this first one, there are many more that occur. Is there a known problem with this installation? Im guessing you guys already know about it, but I just wanted to post this to see if its just me or if its a problem on the chopping block.

ive got a new computer and the video card is a Nvidia geforce gt540m... I installed HoN and everything was good untill I changed to openGL.. the game crashes and wont let me play hon just crash after crash and crash report ...even if I reinstall the game. so it might be not much but for all those that have the same problem go here http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html and update your drive and problem solved ... I just logged to tell you this "fix" works for me, Win XP SP3 32bit version. In last few months I had problems with A L W A Y S crashing after game finishes, if someone fails to load or if remake gets passed but your way of preloading map after logging in helped in every way.
Not a single crash from moment I started using it.
P.S.
I had BUNCH of errors, had to do preload like 3-4 times until it was fine... it seems S2 rly ****ed up something pretty nicely! :/

Lol XD you're welcome. Glad I could Help. If it did not work for some people I think they should really read. If they pre loaded twice and there are still errors. It will NOT work. you have to pre load UNTIL there are absolutely NO errors.

it just starts downloading then the chains go down with the blue bar with %, so i restart the download it goes from the % that it stoped but it happens again S2 help me, i have already uninstall and do not work, i've just download again from the site and tried to update it but the same thing happens! as fast as possible help me, i wanna play =D

After updating to patch 2.5.11 my game won't start. No crash reports. Can stand there for hours with nothing happening... I've uninstalled the game and downloaded it again and every time I can start the game and downlod the update but then it won't start again. Anyone else having this problem?
Edit: Seems that 300MB free space on an SSD messes things up...

Did you preload til there was no errors.
Just to update there seems to be times when I forget to turn game booster on, and i crash even when i preload. The only way i can fix it is if in one game i crash after hitting disconnect i restart my computer right away. turn gamebooster on before i go in game preload twice and it would be okay again.,
I dont know about you guys but everytime I select a hero and the game starts I crash everytime its about to finish the loading when the hero portraits load.
3 games like that I just didnt even ****ing bother to play anymore, Reconnecting yields the same result, It was fine any version before 2.3.5 and especially 2.5.

Hey, my HoN client just started crashing last friday. I open the game, then it shows me the S2 Monkey and bam, crash report. I haven't seen any issues like this, usally the crashes happends ingame to people, but apparently not me. I have never had any crash reports on this laptop before.

It was better some patch ago and I crash less, say 1 out of 4 game. For some reason, i crash every game lately after press d/c on game end. Not a big problem but juz annoying and I miss all the pos-game chat. Please help.

I keep getting an error report in game, it boots me out, then when i try to reconnect an error message pops up xxxxx unread bits and the game crashes. I have a good 4-5 games that ended in this way. it doesn't happen all the time but has only started since the new patch has been released.
I run a macbook pro with Snow leopard OS
I am also having this same problem on windows y though. This is very frustrating... I have tried to play every day since patch release and the game crashes in every single match and does not let me rejoin. I either get the message with ***** Unread Bits or something that says "bad snapshot".
I've read through the forums and tried some solutions such as...a clean install after uninstalling and deleting all previous data...

I am a MAC OSX User who has been playing since Beta. The amount of bugs for OSX Users are ridiculous. From sound not working to voice chat not working to the game randomly crashing...I see enough users recognizing these problems over and over that you would think the developers would do something about it.
I would think that logically developers would be testing on both PC and MAC systems after the release of every patch and update to ensure quality, but that obviously isn't the case!
Latest error for me is an "Unknown Entity type, bad snapshot" error I get every time I try to sit in a game.
I hope you guys will seriously consider working on improving the gaming experence for MAC users. As much as I (and I'm sure all of the HoN MAC community) love this game, these bugs are unbearable and need immediate attention or you're bound to lose a large chunk of your MAC following (especially since many of us PAID $30 for this game before it went F2P).
Looking forward to hearing back.

Disabled all mods: Same thing
Uninstalled and reinstalled w/ no mods
Was able to get logged in if I said no to download patch

This is bizarre. I've tried every fix and sometimes it worked for one play session but after rebooting it was back to crashing 100% of the time with the previous fix never working again.
-Reinstalling HoN
-Reduced resolution to 1024x768
-Switched display mode to OpenGL
-Updated graphics drivers
None of those fixes work anymore and it's 100% crash to desktop with no error message every single time I reach hero selection or hit "join". Did I miss something? Is there a confirmed problem being addressed next patch?

Specifically when devo uses decay. I have a feeling it is a graphics issue but I have tried a couple of different ati drivers and set the settings to minimum and it still crashes the instant devo uses decay.
This is a problem whether I run the 64 bit or 32 bit client.

Freshly reinstalled HoN, after the 2.5.18 update black screened (S2 logo would never show up on game launch) my old HoN install.
Crashed, of course, a few times from when i ran HoN with default settings, DirectX of course crashed. All of the crash dump files are crashes while running in OpenGL.
Repeated crashes, some from just before loading into all pick screen (right after it loads in, says all pick, and one of the indicators for matchmaking is grey, game then crashes), and when clicking disconnect from games. Attempted the "preloadworld caldavar" several times before a game, to make sure all resources were loaded without failures, still crashed on disconnect from game.
Deleted "My Documents\Heroes of Newerth\" folder. And deleted (default location, have HoN installed to different root directory) "Program Files\Heroes of Newerth\" folder. ( Exactly what the page says for fresh HoN installs. ) Before installing from installer. No mods installed.

same problem with my iMAC. the thing is if it's something to do with settings i cant see any words in settings so i cant put all the graphics and stuff to minimum.
