Spectating Bug List - Known Issues

Currently Bugged List:



Mentor cursor stays on the mentee's screen in future games until you restart the client.
If you are starting to spectate a friend while he is still in lobby, you will take up a slot and the 10th player wont be able to join.


Fixed list (internally or retail):

Spectating a spectator doesn't work sometimes; you view (0,0) and you're stuck there. The message shows you connecting to yourself to spectate. Screenshot:

For Macs, all Mac users in a game get kicked out of that game when a spectator requests any player in the game for permission to spectate; also causes Unread Bits bug
If there is a PSR limit set on a public game, you have to meet these requirements to Spectate/Mentor; there should not be a restriction

I have been able to spectate a spectator, no problem. I find more problems with mentoring to be honest.

If there is a spectator in the game (doesn't matter who they are spectating) all the Mac players will get an Unread Bits error and cannot rejoin.

I'm just watching a friends game, where the opponent teams maliken is invisible only to me when he uses his ultimate.

I can see his shots but not the hero model itself. The spectated player can see him without problems.

Testing with my friend who also has a mac we can verify that the instant that a player starts spectating a game all mac players within are kicked and are unable to rejoin unless the spectator leaves, a thing that is very hard to communicate when you can't talk to the other players in the game since you crashed out. Personally this isn't just really annoying, but renders the game virtually unplayable until it gets fixed. Please get this fixed sometime soon!

If my friend spectates me while I am spectating he will get the Spectator-UI with all CK,EXP,Gold etc stats.

Do you mean when you are sitting as a Spectator (like in public-made games with spectator slots for instance) or when you are using the new "Spectate" feature?

The player spectating can't write to the player, it works the other way around though.

Yeah i'm having problems staying in games on my mac... i get unread bit errors half way through a game and my leave percentage is going up... i don't deserve to be a leaver-_- private matches suck-_- and umm yeah its been 2 months, still no sound, still no update. 2 months. 2. thats kinda embarrassing...

+1 Mac OSX10.7, and I get the same thing, "Unrecognized snapshot" however long into the game, presumably when a spectator joins. And then I can't reconnect because I have XXXXX unread bits error. No sound for 2 months, now I can't play.

Can't you work better to comply with mac's as well? I've lasted through the disappearance of my sound which I'm still freaked waiting for and now I can't even play because I keep getting these unread bits error that just like to randomly kick me out of my game as well. You have the time to create new alt avatars, heroes, decorations, and adjustments but you can't take the time to fix the damn sound problem or make sure your patch works properly for mac's too before you release them? I sense bullshit.

Continuous problems with mentoring and spectating. If anyone on either team has someone try to spectate or mentor them all MAC users are kicked from the game and unable to re-join (unread bits error).

Additionally, my friends and I are all MAC (Lion) users and have not had sound for the past 3 months...pretty ridiculous, especially considering a few of us have been around since Beta and paid $30 for the game.

We love the game, but support is absolutely horrendous for MAC users...almost not worth playing with all the bugs/glitches.

Yeah the unread bit has been really fustrating I have been in games where I'm doing really well then get kicked because of the unread bits. I'm scared to play anymore I want to know when it will get fixed :(

I think it's safe to say that S2 have stopped supporting mac OS a while ago. It's just a coincidence that it has "worked" until now.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was the end of HoN and mac OS.

When you spectate a mentor who is mentoring someone in-game, like someone already said, you get the normal spectator view and view all items and gold and stats of the enemy team. It's borderline ghosting.

As a Mentor or specator, you cannot view anyone else or move around the game to see anyone else's view. You're either locked to the view of one area or are forced to watch 100% from the camera view of the person you're spectating. I guess that's how you guys had to implement it but it's kinda hard as a mentor to give people advice when you can't see even the items of the allied players or enemies.

I can play the rest of the game fine without crashing. When I attempt to spectate or mentor a friend the game shows the loading bar and when the bar finishes loading I get:
CHost::execute() - CHost::frame() - Bad Packet From Server

I checked on the support wikis as well as around the support forums for an answer as to why this only happens with spectating and have come up empty handed.

The only fixes I see are to run pings and tracerouts and contact my ISP. None of those have turned up a problem, which is probably why I am able to play the game normally.

I would really like to take advantage of the awesome spectate and mentor features, but an unable to. I'm a gold shielder and have been playing since beta, I love HON. Please help me ElementUser!

So once the mac players bug is fixed will I have my leave percentage adjusted? I have been kicked from three games without being able to reconnect and is completely unfair that I get leave percentage for your error. These are the kind of glitches I would expect from a free game. I am a paying customer and I cannot use the game that I bought because of your programming errors. These repeated inconsiderate treatment of your Mac community is just not right from a business standpoint. How do you compensate us for basically being denied the ability to play the game because of a lack of attention to an entire group of customers. What you are doing is practically theft. You are selling a product and then making that product unusable to an entire demographic of customers.

I can't believe no one has said this but when you spectate a friend and disconnect from the game you get a leaver.

this is ridiculous. i get kicked out of any game if anyone whether in our team or the other mentors/spectates a player. is that what we get for paying for this game? hey S2, test out the patches before actually releasing it? i'd rather you leave things as they are if every patches you make is just gonna cause problems like this to mac users.
not only a problem for me but its ruining games for others too. get high leave percentage and dropped mmr for losing games like that...

I am not trying to be negative like a lot of the mac users, and I do understand their frustrations. However, is this going to be like the sound bug and last for three months with no information about when it is going to end, or is there a foreseeable end to this glitch? I only ask because this bug actually ruins any game I am in for not only me, but also the four poor bastards on my team. If this is going to be a prolonged problem, please, let us know, so I do not waste my time reading through a million posts trying to figure out if anything is different.

Small bug in mentoring mode: if, after a game in wich you are mentoring someone, you enter in a new game (this time, as a player) you will see the old mouse pointer untill you press F6 for "refresh" the inferface.

Have you not noticed that the cursor remains there even after specated ends and you go to a normal game? Really? How much testing did you do on this patch? None?

Plus all chat and team chat are "available" to write to, but do not do anything. I hope you read this. I do really not need 2 cursors, one of them aesthetic.

Im currently having the issue that whenever i try to join as spectater or mentor I get k2 error as soon as the loading of the game is complete .. Did i miss the solution to this problem or what to do ?

refered a friend and mentored him till he reached lvl 3 he got his prof dr repulsor avatar while i didnt also on lvl 2 i didnt get any 50 silver coins though both lvl 2 and lvl 3 has a green tick .

You can spectate another spectator or mentor and we have been 1 who have been mentoring and 4 other who spectated me. Suppose to work that way? :S

About the orignal post, i didn't see this in the thread but here is how you recreate it.

If you spectate a spectator and then the first spectator leaves you get throw into SpecUI, the camera is stuck where ever it was last, although you can go into specui options and hit lock camera and it will follow the orignal person who was being spectated.

As in Player <-spectatorA <-spectatorB
the bug occurs when spectatorA leaves the game.

Let's say, Player X spectate the player Y. And then, Player Z spectate player X. If you right+left click the portrait of the hero of player Y, you'll start following his hero, locked to him.

Support sucks for Linux users too. Unfortunately for me, I am both. :'(

I did also pay for the game, so I've been around for some time!
I also want to buy in game gold but don't just because I never know if they'll just drop the support for my platform. Several times they didn't even bother to patch linux at the same time. The last time people waited for ~ a week.

You can fix the "Stuck mouse" by pressing F6 one time making interface appear and then press F6 to remove it, other players stuck mouse should now be gone.

(Works in practice mode too if test button doesnt show)
