I don't like it myself, just seems like every Chronos goes the same trash build every game, EP into SM...but thats just me; personally I get shrunken as my first major item then wingbow/demonic/symbol depending on the opposition.

Depends if you plan to play team or solo. You will never survive using a parasite unless every enemy are disabled.

ep is fine if you use it to properly to help gank with curse of ages early on.
in other words, for 90% of chronos players don't it's horrible

Shitty early farm = yes
Good early farm = no
Elder parasite, make sure you get shrunken soon.

Depends on line ups and your early game farm.

Why would you even get EP when Chronos has such lousy dps to begin with? People need to realize that his ult is for your Plague/VJ/Chipper/Hag/Mag/Torturer/Geomancer/whatever to set up their own ults on top of.
Grab a Hotbl steams and vestments so you don't die (Rewind scales off of tank items) and then something relatively easy to farm like a Shieldbreaker or a Frostburn.

It's an OPTION. It's not a particularly GOOD option, and there's something very wrong with you if you've ever said "wtf chronos no ep," but he can get away with it I guess, so there's not necessarily a need to ***** about someone getting it either :P

Last couple days I've been going :RunedAxe: :Steamboots: :ElderParasite: :Riftshards: and it's been working great. Given, these are ~1700-1750 games but still.

EP might get you a kill during your ult...then you're dead. Building items with stats and damage, or armor/hp (Helm, Nullstone, Frostburn, Demonic Breastplate, Wingbow) will allow you to benefit more from your Rewind and stay alive in fights. Grab some Alch Bones if you can do it early and safely to grab farm when it's on cooldown, but with Steamboots/Helm/vestments you're able to assist all the teamfights when your ult is up, and trust me, it's worth it.

Get Elder parasite whenever you think it's a viable pick up, if you can play with it.
Elder parasite can be a great items if you can get a correct ultimate off so your teammates can follow you up.
But whenever you have a great farm early I really reccomend getting alchemist bones.
After alchemist steamboots and go straight for deamonic and savage mace, Include Shrunken if they have a lot disables.

What about getting runed axe and steamboots within the 20 minute mark, what do you get then? elder is so nice! but versus a tb or blacksmith it fails ofc, u should just probably place good ults and keepaway from nukers who who has spells ready to go

Anyone else saw the NASL-match where chronos had steamboots helm alchemists runed axe, al of that in 18 minutes or so?

Forget Elder parasite. Rush a Whispering Helm and start to gather Minotaurs, once you have acquired 1750 gold, disassemble your whispering helm to complete an Insanitarius. Minotaurs can move in your chronosphere and chain stun people so use them wisely. After completing Insanitarius, make another whispering helm via the left over Hungry Spirit.
After steamboots/insani/whispering go for some attack speed / damage.

Steamboots and Runed Cleaver is quite hard to obtain before the 20 minute mark in a game.
When ur supported it is possible and certainly very viable to pick up but if it is going to be 25-30 mark I think Cleaver is going to be less effective.

I would gank you so hard if you went Alchemist first... of course, 1600's its hard to organize your team to focus ganks on a hard carry... but still.

The problem with chronos is about not letting him farm enough to snowball into the lategame.
If he gets too much farm you're kinda done if you dont have a carry to match him.
I like Steam+ep(situational)+cleaver/shruken+cleaver/shruken+wingbow/savage mace
kinda that. can change depending on the game.

What about getting a staff of the master on him? I find it makes him that much more usefull to your team. It makes him a very nice counter initiator at that point, which otherwise he's bad at unless he's got so much items he can kill several enemy heroes within 1 chronosphere.

activate parasite outside the fight. wait 5 or so seconds, blink in and ult. simple
I've been going steam->parasite->nullfire->demonic. then it doesn't really matter too much after that. savage is incredible at this point cuz of ur attack speed; wingbow is also a decent pickup. riftshards are another good option. almost anything with a proc is awesome.

Lol you kidding?
Team getting **** on for 5 seconds.
Where you at Chronos?
Just waiting.... Give me a second... do do do...
CHRONOS WE NEED YOU!
Couple more seconds guys...
All teammates killed because Chronos waited 5 seconds while the enemy team jumped on them.

For a fun and different build try out a Puzzlebox Chronos. You can activate it during your ult and the minions are able to freely attack within. Staff is a great pickup along with it as it actually reduces your cooldown to 75 seconds letting you use your ult a lot more. (Not to mention that it no longer disables your teammates so you can be more liberal with your placement). Chronos tends to have some mana issues so getting these 2 items fixes that. Don't underestimate the DPS ability of Puzzlebox.

IMO Elder Parasite is better on heroes that can critical strike, not bash. Not worth it
An excellent alternative is picking up a Firebrand, at approximately the same cost. 1900 - 2200.
Constant +16 Agility which = +16 attack damage and +16% attack speed (therefore an additional +16 damage), 10% movement speed, and leaves you with the choice to still figure out what your orb effect is going to be.
The best solution to this is that you are not disadvantaged by the +20% increased damage taken, which is a horrible debuff if you're trying to become a tank support. (Real role of Chronos)
I'd much rather suggest getting a Mjollnir's on him as it will give him an additional shield if he becomes the target of choice which will send out chain lighting to nearby opponents upon chance that he is struck, also giving him a % chance to rewind attacks which increases the value of the item, and also gives him the ability to release a chain lightning upon chance that he strikes an opponent.
Especially early on, Chronos does not need lifesteal. The attack speed and movement speed increase are extremely beneficial therefore giving him a firebrand is a better choice since there is no activation, and he will maintain the ias/ms bonus permanently rather than upon activation.
Alot of people are mislead, Firebrand and Agility Treads are the single 2 best items an agility hero can pick up.

if you have good early game farm go like:
15 minute cleaver into 23 minute frostburn into sub 30 minute savage and game is over. Someone mentioned insanitarius - dont. Frostburn is situational, sometimes you should consider another modifier. If you have a really bad early game farm, you can consider going elder parasite if you think you have the team for it, but I strongly suggest getting a shrunken as well then.

EP is viable later on when you have an item that will benefit from high attack speed, like savage mace.
Otherwise, don't, take it, ever, especially NOT as a first item, that will just get you killed.

shieldbreaker after steamboots + hotbl + ring of teacher, proceed to rape

It is a great item if u are sure u can trap all 5 ppl in ur ult 100%of the time aka <1300 games... All it takes is 1 person outside with ranged skills and U R DEAD! Even a lvl 10 glacius in a 50 min game. If u do pick chronos, hotbl is good as it gives u survivability to initiate ganks/ early fights. For farming, runed cleaver is WAY better (provided u can last hit properly to get it under 25 mins)
