View Full Version : When was the last time that you cried?

And I mean actual tears, not one that rolls down your cheek cause something was in your eye. Last time for me was about a month ago when I finally finished watching Clannad: After Story. First season was really funny and not that sad, so I thought I would watch After Story. I was not ready for those manly tears.

So, yeah, last time you cried?

Senior prize-giving, got the Williamson scholarship.. pays for everything living-cost related while I'm at university. I'm probably just going to board at their hostel, makes it easier on me to live near campus and have meals and **** all provided, none at my cost ofc :)

Really took a load off, and my parents were so proud.

I'm quite a sensitive guy.
A lot more touchy/feely and emotional than other guys (not an emo)

Maybe two weeks ago. I was contemplating how gifted I am to be where I am and how good my life is and I cried of happiness.

That must have been a few weeks ago when I gave up hope of ever seeing my cat again who had walked away from home a few weeks before that.

Come to think of it, all I have ever cried about is loss (of a pet or family member or a break-up) and once out of pain when I had a severe case of cystitis. I have a pretty high pain threshold but that was just insane :|.

I can cry whenever I want to.

But the last time I cried for real was when my mother was really ill and close to dying, I guess I'm a weakling. This was a year ago.

That is not being a weakling. I'd consider someone heartless if they didn't cry in that situation (unless it was a situation was the mum had been abusive to them their whole life or something similar).

I think the last time was when I was like 7 and I dropped a bowling ball on my foot. Cracked all my nails and they dug into my toes.

Hurt man.

Just because you don't cry when someone you're close to a love dies doesn't mean your heartless. It just means you're in control of your emotions and understand what death is.

Tears don't do anything in that situation except exasperate sadness for those around you.

It's quite interesting in fact, the only way of communicating with others in the early days of life is to cry, basically. If something doesn't feel right you cry.

This is just something based on a silly thought and I haven't really thought much about it, but maybe that's why crying becomes less and less relevant as the years pass by. If you cry when you're older every single person will still know that something isn't right(from your perspective at least). It's like the most simple and true way of communication ever.

Cool.

.

You can still understand death and cry about the loss. Not to mention that crying can also be controlled or deliberate.

Crying to me is just a way to get the sadness out. It's not like you'll simply forget about it afterwards or that you're all jolly when you're done, but once you've shed enough tears over something you can calm down a little and think about it more clearly.

Pantsu

Where did I say that if you cried you weren't in control or didn't understand?

I didn't.
I just said not crying doesn't make you heartless.

Lhune
11-18-2011, 02:52 PM
Notice how I only made your second sentence bold. The way in which you said it implied that people who do cry aren't in control of their emotions or don't understand what death is.

One of my friends can't cry no matter how sad she is. She's not in control of her emotions, she simply can't and doesn't understand why either, it even frustrates her at times.

Pantsu
11-18-2011, 02:59 PM
No. The way I said it didn't imply anything.
The way you read it is what made the implication.
You wanted to read it in a way that you could make a point contradicting it.

I simple stated that that's how you can be to not cry and be heartless.

Lhune
11-18-2011, 03:04 PM
It's one of more explanations. Someone who doesn't cry to a loss isn't necessarily in control of their emotions either, as shown by my example. I never wanted to read it that way, I just did.

Sorry for the offtopic, carry on.

I don't really cry over loss, but i do find a lot of things 'touching', and will have a tear or two flee the vicinity of my tear ducts to find work elsewhere.

I used to be a real crybaby when I was little, but after **** got real (mom had a few strokes and went to rehab, dad started beating on us) I kinda just stopped. Can't remember the last time I cried for RL reasons.

But that stupid thai commercial got me.

Yea that was quite brutal. Didn't manage to squeeze a tear out though, even though I was trying. Crying is a great stress relief, or so Wikipedia tells me.
