In my experience, playing MM games can often be really frustrating. We either stomp the other team, or end up getting stomped, with very few decent games per session.
Some of the problems I see:
- All new players, from complete newcomers to DotA veterans (and smurfs) get ranked at 1500 MMR. This obviously imbalances a lot of games mainly around the 1500 bracket.
- Players on long winning/losing streaks take a lot of games to end up at their "proper" rating where they have around 50% win/loss ratio, resulting in a lot more skewed games than really neccessary.
- Solo and team MM queueing uses the same rating value, while the required skillsets differ quite a bit (due to poorer communication/team strategy in solo queue games, individual player skill plays a bigger role). This can result in imbalance when matching up players who alternate between the two queueing types.
Any plans by S2 in the works to address some of these issues?
