How does S2 feel about smurfs and is there anything being done about them? (UPDATED 2/26)

In the past months, more especifically after F2P, the number of threads about smurfs, either defending or complaining, has increased a lot.

I believe much of this happens because the community don't know what is the S2 opinions about it. So here is my questions:

Did S2 discuss it already internally? What were your conclusions (is it really a problem or no)? Is there any action planned to deal with it?

We're actively looking into ways to improve the experience of new players to our game and lower the effect of smurfs on the lower brackets.

At the same time, the players that DO smurf should enjoy a better experience on their regular accounts and we're working to achieve that as well!

The recent MMR rework helped a lot with these issues, as it's a lot easier to find games in the higher brackets now. Of course, players still do smurf and we want people to play in their proper skill bracket. This ensures the best quality of games for everyone.

We are still looking into many different ways to curb the use of smurfs.
