Beginner League

Are there any Leagues available for teams who want to play HOn competitly but are just starting out?
Having never played DoTa I wouldn't want to waste another teams time playing us until we get better. But if there was a league for noobs it would really growths community. Anyone point me in the right direction or have interest in this idea?

ESL is starting a ladder. So just sign up there and challenge teams about your skill.

I don't know if the community is large enough to hold a semi pro or amateur styled league yet but I'm sure if you were diligent and worked with people on the training grounds boards and the like, you could get one started for newer players and newer teams. Having something like that could help to streamline people into the more competitive side of HoN as aposed to the pub side. It sounds cool, possibly a different rule set for a HL bracket, never ahving competed or something like that.

Sorry it maybe be a noob question, but there are a lot of us noobs who never played DOTA and love HON and are used to competitive gaming but also are smart enough to know we need a beginner league.

would be difficult to classify people into beginner/semi pro skill levels, as there are a whole range of people who would fall into this category.

eg people who played dota and play hon, are ok but have never played competitvely etc.

adjectives referring to skill (ok, beginner, pro) etc are broad.

The best way to go about it would be creating or joining a lower level team, and scrimming as much as possible. Look at teams or players that are higher up on the totem pole, and don't just copy them, but use deductive reasoning as to WHY they do what they do. For example, why would he ward in an inferior place when a better place is there. A likely answer would be they've been counter-warding that area, so you have to switch it up to keep them guessing.

Teams that you end up facing that are even matches, or a little bit better/worse you should make sure you scrim them often to see if you're improving.

well said angel, i think that hon league and GR comp are a little too advanced for the newer HoN teams. Although even HoN players with no Dota experience can learn and preform at top tier levels it just takes practice and patience. You'd be surprised at watching and playing with top tier clans/teams/players will help you learn and advance your play style.

Watch some of the live streams or some of Glorify/angels vids there very good to learn how to play like he said dont copy him adapt your play style to the best of your ability and just practice cause its the only way you'll get better.

I think its a great idea
im still learning the game , i did play dota before but this is different no matter the similarities the gameplay is much faster pased
anyways nothing worst than trying to learn the game while getting pounded on by so called "noob players" that join these noob games just to feed their stats

As mentioned above, it would be next to impossible to cap the skill level, because there is no real way of knowing. It would just end up like the above mentioned situation where people join "noob only" in order to stomp. Glorify summed it up, just make your team (you need a pre-made team to enter pretty much ANY competitive game), and seek out other low-mid skill teams to scrim with. We've got a couple low-mid skill teams in LC that would love a scrim. If you get a team together let me know and I'll try and arrange it.

I am hoping HON league or some others develop some bracketed play. In most other competitive games there was the open league, b league and A league. Would be nice to see that same professionalism applied to HON.
