Relax.
I'm trying to understand how people still out level me even though I've killed them A LOT A LOT A LOT more than me?
I killed this guy 6 times and he never killed me. Yet he ended up level 21 and I was still 17. There are rules in this game that defy normal human logic and that defy traditional rules of engagement and war.
It seems that laning is more important than having fun with your hero.
Need more information to help you more effectively. How often did you have to go back to the fountain? How many creep kills do you get per minute? Etc, etc.

I make no more than two-three trips to the fountain TOPS.
I'm not sure how many creeps i kill per minute. Is that important? I'm not much into stats. I know how to kill heroes very well but it seems that is worthless in this game.
Does it matter what lane I try to dominate? I always go bottom and my enemies always go middle.

well if you have say 40 creep kills and he has 200 then of course he is going to be a higher level than you. Killing a hero gets a lot of xp. It also depends on when you got those kills. If you got them early on than thats not going to make a lot of difference, you may have got a couple of levels on him at that stage but its easy to catch up with less xp per level

You're either a troll, or have no concept of this game at all. I'm going to hope you're #2 and "drop some knowledge on 'ya"
Killing creep yields xp and gold, killing a hero is more xp and more gold but you can't kill 200 heros a game, you CAN kill 200 creep per game, and thats very important. More creep kills=more xp+more gold=better items=less deaths +higher levels +more creep kills +easier time killing heroes.
Not in a big team fight? some of your teamates are dead, and so are theirs so there is no push comming? go kill some creep, be it in lane or in a jungle.
Lanes them selves don't matter really. But the more friendly heroes in your lane the less xp and less gold you get per kill (they have to be in aa certain radius and that distance ins alluding me) Middle lane gets the fastest creep waves because it's the shortest distance between both bases.

I have no concept of the game. I've never ever played RTS games much. The only reason I'm giving this one a chance is because I don't have to manage that many units. I can handle managing one.
.. I see so that is why everyone goes middle.
But if we both go middle that is just way too linear of a game. One road between two places? That seems kind of um dumb? Just my honest opinion. Seems kind of silly if you can't move around and attack from different angles.
So going top and bottom is a disadvantage. Going middle is good but i ALWAYS play keeper of the forest and I can't compete with people up front and if I try to invis they'll just buy dust, ward, eye and I'm screwed. I have to avoid them and go top or bottom.
stop playing 1v1.

Experience gain is based on two things:
1) being near creeps when they die
2) being near heroes when they die
The range from experience is 1000 (that's twice the range of the Ranged Creep).
Provided you remain in this range, you will get experience. If you are out of this range, you will evidently get none. Now, killing your opponent six times may give you an advantage, but if he manages to stay in that 1000 XP range whilst you are not, he will get the XP whilst you do not. The game works entirely on mathematics, a science rooted deeply in logic; if you are underlevelled then it means that you are getting kills but not managing to capitalise on them by getting some solid farming or you are letting him farm too much when he returns to the lane.
I ask for average creep-kills per minute because it gives a decent insight as to how much you will be near the creep-wave and thus how much experience you will be getting.

My stats show 434 exp per minute.
I'm 20/81. The first 60 losses were understanding the game, but now I can finally win SOMETIMES. I only play keeper of the forest and no other heroes. I'm loyal to one hero only and I ALWAYS pick first because I got balls.

The first soldier over the trench, too, had balls, but this does not mean he was the most intelligent nor the most successful. Remember that you will get no respect for picking first and simply being countered the entire game, quite rightly too.
Learn to broaden your hero selection. Though it is important to know your heroes well, you will find yourself limited far too greatly. I can play any hero at a decent level, though some stronger than others. I hold particular allegience to both Wretched Hag and Pharaoh, but I realise that trying to be either of them in every game is not only foolish, but outright illogical.
Though your stats show 434 XP/min, it may have been far different for that game. Furthermore your opponent could have been getting far more XP/min after his six deaths.

Why do people keep saying this? In 5 vs 5 there is too much going on.
This game is balanced around a 5v5 and Keeper of the Forest isn't strong for 1v1. The fact that you do kill people in 1v1 is great, but as people have attempted to tell you hundreds of times, this game is not a 1v1 game.
You need to learn to play 5v5 or you're not going to enjoy this game. Also, your creeps are not worthless. You need to learn how to control them. The lanes push back and forth and you can easily sway which way they're going by killing a few waves.
Finally, the reason people play middle in 1v1 is because middle is the shortest lane and is fair to both sides. Playing top or bottom disadvantages the longer side. The river also helps keep you safe if you know how to use it properly.
Killing heroes is extremely crucial to leveling if you can do it, but killing creeps is just as important. Consider that it takes approximately 4 creep kills to equal one hero kill in gold. I'm assuming it's similar in XP as well early on. Creep kills are less crucial later on, but in the beginning of the game you need to be within range (1000) of every kill to remain equally leveled.

So you are openly admitting that the game is rock paper scissors and the hero selection screen predetermines the outcome of the fight?

Until they disable keeper of the forest from 1 vs 1 then it means the DEVS think that the keeper has a chance in 1 vs 1.

No, it doesn't. Saying things like that prove that you have no concept of how a game is developed or how a game should be ran.
They aren't going to limit your choices. That's the whole point of having the choices. KotF could possibly win in a 1v1 but that doesn't mean he's viable all of the time or even half of the time.
This game is NOT meant for 1v1 matches. The only reason 1v1 is allowed is because some people enjoy doing that but that's not the intention of this game. Stop playing the game how you think it should be played and play it the way it's intended. If you can't do that, then why should we listen to anything you have to say? They aren't going to change the game for you and leave out everyone else.
