So, to give my own user-input on what I just discovered.

Shop and hats makes me frown. Hats are basically confirmed, in a pitch-idea/WIP state, and it saddens me.
However, something I noticed, is that if you look at all the DotA2 sounds, all heroes have over 6 minutes,
and even some above 13 minutes, of pure voice acting. Quite amazing, to be honest.

I actually got my hands on the beta build all this info is coming from. It lacks a server.dll which allows you to make a lan game or any sort of game. So you cant even load an ingame map. I'll be happy to stream on livestream.com to show that i have it, but as said. Cant really do anything with it though. Which reminds me, I should start exporting the models to hon.

But yea, digging around in the configs and scripts. Someone finally listened....BRAZILIANS WILL HAVE THEIR OWN GOD DAMN SERVERS!

p.s. the sounds for everyone are ****ing awesome!

what he said. I've been through the client in and out. That .dll is required by any source game or mod to load a map. It allows for local (lan) and internet functionally.

You pay non-virtual money, to obtain supposedly 'cosmetic' hats. Anyone can see your hats.

They're going to have a shop, where you can buy such items. They might feature additional things, such as altering the weapons of your heroes.
I looked through some of the files, and it does indeed appear as if you will be able to change the appearance of certain weapons (Anti-Mage, for example). I am pretty sure Tyrando is correct, and it is merely not implemented properly yet. I don't see why they'd otherwise separate his weapons from his model, and name them "default_weapon" etc.

Well, I think cosmetic shops are a necessity when it comes to this genre. Of course Dota 2 will sell more copies than HoN(if it won't be f2p), but the sales will eventually slow down and Valve will definitely want a bigger income from a game he spent so much on. Implementing a shop is the best thing they can do and the more varied it is, the better for everyone.

Hell, I wouldn't even mind something like EA, even if I pay for the game. I'm OK with anything until you actually pay for power.

I thought we had already been over this.

You need the server.dll to make any type of game, whether practice or not, as stated previously -- there is absolutely no way for you to play the game, unless you get into the actual beta (or get old of the server.dll). It hasn't changed since last time you asked :noma:

I'd also like to repeat myself, that the DotA2 NDA has been lifted, and you will likely see a lot more content now. This includes beta invites being thrown around, games being casted, videos being released and what not.

Basically it was a list of directories/files on their internal servers that they use for development.

according to alot of information, posts, spam, it seems that the server.dll controls everything client side when making a "server" Aka , AI , practice, multiplayer server etc. so once the server.dll goes public. bot prac, and alot more will be accessable
