I've spent several hours looking at this game's paintings and details. Very disturbing ><
Splash **** is the least scary. Easiest enemy to avoid in the game.
Not when you don't know there a sprint button.

No no, I don't think you guys understand. It's scary when a monster sneaks up on you, and you turn around, and it screams at you, a face full of pus and maggots, with it's massive jaws filled with bone-white teeth and pale-green saliva. It's not scary when all it is is just freaking splashes. Yes, you have play 'the floor is lava', but it's not scary. Not like that ****ing monster that's on the other side of the door when you nudge it upon, and it sees you, and lumbers after you like the god damn Flash, and you're in the dark, and you've think you've gotten away, and when you turn around to confirm that fact, it's RIGHT IN YOUR ****ING FACE!

No Bobble that is probably the least scary way to make a horror game/movie/book/story/anything people who scream at that are mildly shocked while Amnesia makes you check your closet thrice before going to bed at night, for the better part of the next month.

I'm not saying Amnesia isn't scary. Hell, I made the mistake of watching a play-through at night. Of course, I got no sleep. I'm just saying that pretty much any part of Amnesia is scarier than the water part.

Something popping up behind you isn't scary. Its just startling. That's why Dead Space isn't scary. It's just a bunch of monsters popping out of vents, catching you off guard every once in a while.

Something popping up behind you isn't scary. Its just startling. That's why Dead Space isn't scary. It's just a bunch of monsters popping out of vents, catching you off guard every once in a while.
No, when it shatters your illusion of safety, it is definitely scary. It basically drops the floor from underneath you. Things popping on screen aren't scary, but that feeling of your safety disappearing is definitely scary.

Extra Credits made a really good video about scary games, and how you need to built the "scariness" up, and then jizz it all over you. If you don't build up the scariness, and just get jizzed on, it isn't jizzy anymore. It's just air. So it sorta works like that ... analogy ... sorta.
