One thing I've noticed is in HoN you have a Magic Armor instead of a percentage spell reduction in DotA. For instance, Barrier Idol gives 10 Magic Armor and the DotA counterpart give you 30% magic resistance. I'm guessing the amount is roughly the same.

But the real question I'm trying to ask is did DotA's heroes have an innate 25.5% magic resistance?

Yes all heroes were granted a 25% Magic resistance in DotA.

Yeah, remember that the type of armor of the heroes was Hero type (duh =P)? In the description stated that it granted reduced damage from spells, magic, piercing, etc. This description didn't really matter anything for piercing/heavy, ofc, but for spells it meant this 25%.

The values are different but the resist mechanics work the same. A shaman headdress gives the same magic resist as a hood of defiance and pipe/idol have identical resist values too.
