View Full Version : Relax flaming rules for competitive play forum to enable sh** talking?

Some people love to talk ****. Other people like to read other people talking ****... Simple enough poll, relax the moderation on this forum?
Alternate suggestion (post if you like), add a ****-talking sub forum.

No need for flaming anywhere, there is a thin line on taunting, and **** talking. Its all ok to a certain extent. No need to go in and bash clans in their recruitment threads n such.

The moderation in this forum is already more lax in some regards to accommodate friendly jabs and inside jokes among players that know each other. The line is drawn at anything that is clearly unnecessary flaming, personal attacks, or other inexcusable behavior. "Trashtalking" being a tool used by some competitive players is not an excuse for turning this forum into a trollfest.

Honestly, those players who talk trash are generally over compensating for a lack of skill (although there are some exceptions). I'd be in favor of any moderation in this forum that helps deter immature behavior.

sounds like a bunch of tweenies trying to be funny imo.
**** talk isn't funny unless the **** talkers get stomped and the passive-aggressiveness of the winners starts coming out. Reminds me of a pub where I had this swiftblade elec combo running their mouths at me as pebbles and a voodoo jester saying how bad they were gonna own, then we killed swift four times and elec once. Swift says 'UR ****IN GAY COMBO ISNT GONNA SAVE U LATEGAME'.
30 mins in we rax, I ask swiftblade 'so where was lategame?' and he d/c'd. Also voice chat opens up whole new levels of **** talk and trolling, we had a madman who sounded like a fag on our team once so we just spent the entire game calling him clay aiken and asking for his autograph whenever he complained about us not saving him when he ran in at 1v3 or worse odds and died. I actually had more fun in that game than in most games that I win.

Flaming shouldn't be allowed in the competitive scene, it's immature and it's a lack of sportsmanship, it simply doesn't have it's place in any competitive scene of any games. Many people will start hating on you, you'll even get flamed back by the community.
You don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you, right ?

Pro-Starcraft has a good level of mind games. You can't say a thing in games, but outside of it, it's pretty much fair game. Still, the exchanges are subtle and probing, rather than over the top.

If it's done jokingly it can be really funny, but a lot of the moderators here don't have the ability to distinguish between jokes and srs bsns.

Really? They didn't seem that bad. The pros that I played with didn't seem overly arrogant or anything (King, FeaR, DogKaiser, etc).
