View Full Version : Falling Behind on Creeping

I've been in a few games now (recently more so) where i start to fall behind on creep kills / levels, it's not that i'm dying, nor is it me being useless.
I find that whenever my team start to gank, i don't really have enough time to creep kill, maybe in fear of being raged at for not helping ..
Does anyone else get this problem ? and if so, how do you work around it ?
*PS, i normally bring it back late game, but creeping early game is just as important*

Maybe it helps when you use homestones for ganking. After the gang stay on the lane for a short duration or until the cooldown of the homstone is ready again and juse the homestone for the next gank.

As a mentor in the mentor/appretice program i see this alot.
New players seem to get passive when danger is close to them.
Some pointers on what to think about when laning:
1. Allways, unless you think a gank is coming or you run the risk of geting killed by you opposition stay in exp-range from the creeps.
2. Harass! Harassing is the most important aspect of laning imo. If you make you opposition run back for regen he loses alot of exp and gold. Harassing also makes it easier for you to kill your enemy
3. Use your mana, If you are up agains't a hard lane(someone who can kill you with ease) dont be affraid to use your mana to harass and/or get lasthits on creeps. In Addition, dont use your mana if you relay on it to survive in the lane.
4. Lasthitting! One of the most important things in early game laning is lasthiting both offensively(gold/exp) and defensively(deny, less gold/exp for enemy's)
5. Warding, at the start of the game buying wards is sometimes key to surviving a lane. If you play a support hero you should buy wards, and then place the wards in a manner so that you see when someone is coming for you. Wards can also be used offensively to block creepspawns.
a few tips :)

yeah thanks for that :)
I guess when you bring up last hitting, i normally play with someone who use to play DOTA a lot, so he last hits everything, i do fine on my own (last hit at least 50 %) but he brings it down to like 10%, however i am pretty good at denying i'd like to think.
I always find it harder to harass when you are a melee, almost impossible (ofc this only applies to when i am a melee)
I think my biggest problem is staying in exp range, if (now i'll take an example from a game i played yesterday) i was in a lane vs nymphora arachna, and they were just harrasing this sheeet out of me ( me being a melee, can't remember who now) but in that situation i can't see what i can do, other than die.

you pretty much have to play at max range at that point, why you were solo in that lane I don't know, unless you were solo'ing bot due to someone foresting
but you don't HAVE to last hit all time, the strategy you should have in a lane like that is just staying out of their attack range and leeching exp as the creeps kill each other off
eventually they'll push harder and you can play close to your tower, which is when you have a team mate come gank and try and get them to tower dive a bit
if you find your lane is still outpushing them even with them last hitting/denying, then you should be creep pulling from the forest to catch up on exp
obviously this only really applies to legion bot and hellbourne top, but thats really the only lanes you should have as a secondary solo
