2D Hero Portrait

This mod simply replaces the 3d model of the hero portrait with a 2d icon.
Currently, many of the faces of the heroes are poorly modeled and textured. Oftentimes, the hero's icon looks better.

The image turns grey if your hero is dead, or green if your hero is an illusion.

Many of the 3d hero portraits are simply ugly.
Personally, I prefer the icons. Others may disagree. The purpose of this mod is to provide that choice.

Technically, it would improve performance also, but the difference is negligible.

Tiny UI uses a completely different portrait, with lengthier code.
Considering that the Tiny UI code can change at any time, it doesn't make much sense to make a Tiny UI version. Besides, the Tiny UI portrait is unobtrusive already.

But still, models aren't really designed to be seen that close. It is way better to see the 2D Portrait, since it was specifically designed to be seen that way.

You guys should consider creating Starcraft 2 Style 3D Portraits. It could be the last thing you do, not really important, but it will look infinite times better, since they are designed specially for that.

Edit: Damn, I'm already using a very good mod that improves the Buff/Debuff indicators. It changes the interface resources, blocking me from using this Portrait mod.

Someone knows a way to mix both into one mod?

I actually prefer the hero portraits instead of the close up ingame hero models, because although they look fine in game from a distance (S2 probably didn't give too much detail to them for that reason, to increase performance), the models don't look as good close up. So great job with this mod!

This is a godsend and should be implemented by default. The model textures are awful for most heroes in the 3d portait (many of them look worse than WC3) and when the 2d icons are so good it just doesn't make sense.

I think what happened was "modelpanel" thats being referenced in the mod got changed to being called something else, which is why this doesn't work.

What that new name is though I dont know :p
