In complete honesty, here is the truth and i am NOT the only one thinking this.

The day before the 1mil D2 tour, i was like "hell yeah, S2 dies now and D2 will be released in like a week gg"

But when i saw that LoLish D2 crap, im not so sure S2 will die.

And i honestly think these D2 dickriders are fooling themselves when they say the graphics are amazing in D2.

I will buy D2, i will play it, but i srsly doubt that ill stay there considering its actually a LoL sequel they made

Couldn't agree more. I was absolutly shocked by how freaking bad the graphics are in Dota2. They are somwhat palish and lack color over all. Spell animations are a joke on 70 % of the heroes and overall, the game just looks like an updated version of LoL with less cell shading. I think a lot of people are just too far down the road of "Dota2 will make me a better player and will be a better game because, well, it's Dota2" to admit, that the guys at Valve just made it look absolutly **** tier.

Still gonna at least try it tho.

well DOTA 2 doesnt look like LoL at all. If you have a closer look there's nothing cartoonstyle-like. You might be irritated by the healthbars and mostly cheap effects (srsly the lich ult for example...wtf is this?) but it looks nothing like LoL.

I must say I was rather disappointed in dota2, what stood out the most imo was the lack of power. Abilities really didnt seem to have that sense of SHASAM! I mean come on compare behemoth ult when it goes like BADOOSH BAMBOOM compared to that little circle-stomp from earthshaker, there's no way you can prefer earthshakers there.

If you got a super aoe ult you want it to look powerful, sandkings ult and stun compared to magmus, oh so very pathetic. Lich tiny balls compared to plague riders plaguuuu. Come on you really cant mean that they were better looking in any way shape or form, one could argue that graphics dont matter but of course they do when the games are so very similiar, its nothing wrong with the STYLE of their graphics just the lack of nice looking abilities.

Furthermore I "personally" prefer the changes S2 has done to the game like no 0:00 rune, limited buybacks and the secret shop for instance, I mean look at the tournament (I watched every match apart from 1) every single one just spammed buybacks constantly it was a pain in the arse to watch.

And btw was it only me or did some spells look very similiar, like Lions stun and Sandkings stun, maybe I missed something but I thought the effect was PRETTY much the same. Still I will obviously get dota2 and try it out, I mean come on who the hell wont :D

1. They aren't CGI. They're done in-engine with a private program called SourceCinema. The only thing they do differently is use higher resolution models.

I know what CGI means, but when we're talking about computer games, everything is obviously going to be done on the computer. Using your very literal definition of CGI, the "ingame rts style animations" are CGI as well.

Typical CGI refers to footage made outside of the engine. The Dota 2 and TF2 trailers are made in the engine, so outside of the fact that they're using higher quality models/textures, it's the same as the gameplay.

What's surprising about that? I don't know too many guys in college who haven't heard of Dota/Hon/LoL, and those who have played them have generally enjoyed the experience. Compare that with WoW, which although many have played, many have quit (many times) due to various negative reasons. D3 might have been more anticipated had Blizzard not screwed up everything in WoW over and over again. TES5 is a single player RPG...enough said.

These casters tend to be at a high level, but can't get better, thus resort to casting games. There are
just some players who can become good, but stop at that point, and won't get better. It can be due to
lack of consistency in play, or what not.

Day9 is one of the greatest prime examples of this. A person who has followed the game with a passion,
knows the game, played competitively, and switched to casting.

I prefer casters who can come with factual information, rather than force enthusiasm. I want the caster
to tell me strategic information, and the mechanics of skills, rather than how bright they are, or how
many times that guy missed an arrow.

I don't mean to rag on him; rather, I just wish we had some more professional casters. If you love having
him cast your games, I don't see any reason to change that. I just know that there are so many people
who tune in, and mute the honcast, simply because you get a headache listening to it. ;__;

really, norroar? ever since i've watched counter-strike 1.6 matches from CPL 2003, shoutcasters have consistently been GOOD but not 'very good' as in, TOP TIER type of thing. even the shoutcasters that shoutcast for SC2 are 'good' and knowledgable(who get paid a STUPID ****ing amount of money to do it..), but nothing worth mentioning. they play as well as anyone who would play and watch starcraft 2 as their 'main game' would.

Just rewatched some DotA2 matches on youtube in HD. I have to admit that I fell in love with this game. There seems to be so much detail. The hero models are great, the trees look nice....even the neutral creeps look so cute :D When Stormspirit stuns a neutral creep it is moving it's arm like a swimmer trying to run away....

Anyways, I cannot wait for the beta to start. I love HoN, but right now it seems like s2 is destroying its game as hard as they possibly can. If anyone has a key from somewhere, I will do pretty much anything for it.

So the only one without any competitive background is DJwheat, BUT imo sc2 is COMPLETLY different! You can know about all the strategies, and counters WITHOUT playing the game on a high level, or even without playing the game at all!
