I had high hopes for this considering Valve's past accomplishments on the technical field, but these animations seem just as terrible as the ones in LoL.

Never thought I'd say this considering I hate Blizzard, but gash I wish their version of dota would soon find its way to the scene. Despite their recent habits to cater to casual market etc, at least they have decent animators. Diablo 3 textures look like total garbage, but the animations are sufficient to say the least.

Sooo disappointed in this... Hope they try to improve the technical aspect of dota2 during the beta.

Um no, sorry, but just because a game is in beta doesn't mean it will get a complete engine/model/texture overhaul.

I mean remember when people said that the DotA2 screenshots were 4 months old and that they have changed?
Well... everything people complained about is still there. And it looks almost worse in action than it did on a screenshot.

I personally have no problem at all with the graphics. It's the aestethics, the hero models, the item icons, oh, and the announcer that I just can't like. I mean really, the guy announcing the double damage rune sounds like it's Armadon.

Spell animations look cleaner in DotA2 though. But not all of them look realy better (Lion's stun for instance - compare that to WS graveyard).

What Valve needs would be better artists :(

Is it just me or map seems so terrible small, especially the area near Roshan/Kongor.
And the Kongor entrance is like a damn bottle neck where the entire team can get stuck to, and pit itself so small.
Also anyone noticed how rugged the clockwerks wall is? Just as shitty as it was in Dota, no improvement there.

And the "fountains" arent really fountains but just some stupid looking corners where you can go to get some hp/mana.

On a technical perspective, Dota2 is of course superior to HON (all those shader and light and shadow are awesome!). Animation is great 2!

Artistically speaking, the art design depend on people's taste. Some I like, some i don't. For instance, Tide hunter's design is top notch with a physical-base fish in his hand. However, I don't like Sven's design, it's a little bit ben10-ish and his spell lack the power of HammerSTORM! (his 1st skill is just meh and how can his ultimate compare to the camera-shaking ultimate of Hammerstorm?). The Dota2's map design is great with all those detail texture and light and shader, love it!.

However, I still got some sense of disappointment. This may due to the 'speed' of the game. It's like watching HON in slow-mo. Additionally, it's the strength and intensity of game's effect and model's animation. The spell's effect, the last-hitting creep's effect and the hero attack animation just look a little pathetic because it is too slow and lack power (Look at the attack animation of that balpha-roshan and compare it to thee-KONGOR!). I know that Valve want to mark this game E for everyone but If they can't include a satisfying-bloody creep last-hitting like HON, they should make it like some kind of physical-base animation: when the hero successfully last-hitting, the creep will be forcefully blow in the opposite direction and crash landed on the side of the cliff!

In conclusion, I'm still feeling like there's something missing here, some sense of satisfaction...

It's really quite funny how unncessarily critical people are being. Does anyone else remember when they first moved to HoN? I personally couldn't understand what on earth was going on, thought a whole bunch of the abilities and icons looked absolutely ridiculous, I couldn't figure out what was going on in team fights, and it took me quite a while to get into the game. After I did, I loved it, realised how nice it actually was. Of course this will be the reaction to a brand new platform with a very very unique and individual look. I do not remember that at all, I remember being like, WOW this is amazing, everything felt exactly like warcraft III as I remembered it in the best possible way and how great it looked, then I went back to wc3 and forgot how ****ing dreadful it looks, loving hon even more.

Wow how can a game even get that long, at 60mins in I watched like 10 mins and all I saw was farming.

TBH, this small 10 mins has confirmed a little what I was thinking. The game looks a lot slower than HoN. Everything seems a little floaty.

The graphics look nice, but I am not worried about this being a much better game. I think HoN has developed a lot further on and people don't give it enough credit.

I am not sure that HoN will see the same user levels, it is like VHS vs Betamax, just because you have the best technology, does not mean you win the overall fight.
