Katana:
:GlovesOfTheSwift: + :Punchdagger: + :Steamstaff: = :Slash: (Price = 2200)

Katana Bonuses:
+25 damage
+25% attack speed

Katana + Katana + Braod Sword = Keen Blade
:Slash: + :Slash: + :Broadsword: = :BastardSword: (Price = 6600)

Keen Blade Bonuses:
+70 Damage
+60% attack speed

When used on a melee hero, the blade provides a skill.
Swift Slashes: Allows the hero to immediately repeat an attack after making one allowing him to hit twice at once. 4 second cooldown passive skill.

The Katana could be an all around new item that the game uses as a predecessor to many other items. However, the Keen Blade would serve the purpose of making a melee carry abble to attack a target twice, greatly boosting DPS.

Costs 1k more than Doombringer or Savage Mace, stats are fairly meh with 0 survivability. Passive sounds neat though. It should probably be changed to a % based proc or every X number of swings since late game carries hit so fast that an extra attack every 4s isn't much of a bonus compared to many other, cheaper items. I withold my vote to see if you change it much.

Probably drop Punchdagger from Katana and replace it with a 300g recipe while keeping the same base stats. Puts its cost right above a Warhammer with a nice bonus attack speed and cheap base items.

passive is like a 4s cd 2x crit that can double proc on hit items

I do like the Katana idea, but I don't like the keen blade. The Katana offers something no other item that cheap would, a decent boost to both damage and attack speed, which is core for numerous heroes and quite sufficient to boost farming too. I feel it would be more useful if the recipe was changed though, A Warhammer gives 24 damage (Roughly the same) at 1600 and a glove gives 15 attack speed, so at 2100 for two items you have -1 damage and -10 attack speed, I think I have to agree with the poster above, remove the punchdagger and add a 300g recipe.
As for the Keen blade, the passive is rather weak, :Riftshards: has a 22% 2.4X crit at level 4, which in most cases will proc more than once in 4 seconds for a late game carry, This item costs 5600 gold (Your math was wrong) and rifts are 5450. I feel the passive needs to be tweaked a little bit for it to be more viable, otherwise it would be quite a good item for any semi or hard carry.

How does 2 katanas stack? 50 DMG + 50% AS?

Believe he ment 3 katanas (= 6600)

I don't understand your math.

Now the numbers make sense.

The damage numbers don't seem....right for the items involved. A recipe doesn't/shouldn't increase combined damage (in your case it adds ability) (excluding Crit/Shieldbreaker/etc. Take Daemonic. It's recipe does almost nothing. Behemoth Heart recipe adds an Regen for the combined parts. So scale the numbers to be in line with this concept, or increase the recipe cost.

The damage is comparable to Rifts, except that rifts can proc multiple times in a 4 second span.

this seems AMAZING on a melee hero that has an un-countered Assassin shroud.

Lets just say this would be good if it allowed :glad: to double whip crit.

Overall I don't like the item as it doesn't affect Health, Mana, or Armor in anyway as well as being a pure damage item. Firebrand increases MS and Armor (via +agi). Icebrand increases HP. Shieldbreaker lowers enemy armor. Interactions such seem important for viability.

As the item stands I do not support it.

This was the first thing I thought. Almost the same build as insanitarious but auto-completes. However this can be tweaked at a later time.

Second thought:
This = +70 damage / +60 speed for 6600 gold
:ChargedHammer: = +24 damage / +70 speed for 5500 gold AND +40 (average) AOE magic per attack AND defensive AOE magic on self or ally

Even with the added attack every 6 seconds, seems expensive for what it does. :ChargedHammer: is more DPS at 83% the cost.
