How competetive are you guys?

My clan are a bunch of people from the same forums, and we've got a few people who spent most of the last month just learning basics and stuff. I think we only have 2 members who are over 1700 PSR.

We'd rather not get rofl stomped by a competetive clan, but if you're closer to an intermediate clan or just a group of friends who want to get a game in, I'd be down to try to organize a few matches. We've got like 20 people in the clan, most in the intermediate (1450-1600) skill range.

NEW CHANNEL: Clan Scrim

Introduction

Hello, I have noticed lately there have been several post regarding finding scrims and what IRC channel to use. Well after idling all of the IRC channels it's obvious they are not being used very often to find scrims. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of IRC, but I think there are just to many players that just don't know what it is or how to utilize it. My solution would be in-game channels. I think with the help of blackAngel88's Channel Loader Mod and several active teams we can get a consistent scrim channel going. In the future I hope S2 takes a look at my Improved Chat (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=26680) suggestion as it will help with the scrim channel.

In-Game Channels

Clan Scrim
Scrim: Scrim is short for scrimmage which in gaming is basically a practice match where two teams play against each other. Some people may call this a CW/Clan War or FW/Fun War.
Ringer: A person who fills in and plays for a team. For example a team only has 4 members online but they still wanna practice. They can go to the ringer channel to find there 5th member.
Example Format: 5v5 | FoC | Ours | east/cent | Pro | PM ME

Channel Loader Mod

This mod will automatically join channels you specify on start-up. You can "auto-join" up to 6 Channels.

I ask everyone who plans to use the above channels to please download the channel loader mod and add Clan Scrim to their auto-join list. Doing this may help keep the channels active.

How do I get Channel Loader Mod?

Please follow this LINK (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?p=220028) to the mod creators page. Installation is very simple and there are instructions provided. This mod will work stand-alone or with Mod Manager.

It seems to work with every patch so far. The mod creator also seems to make sure it works each patch. It is a pretty simple mod so I cannot see any problems in the future.

Ya I have seen a few teams come in so far looking for scrims. The only way this system will work is if everyone takes it upon themselves to get there team in there and scrim. If everyone waits around to see if it is gonna take off.. it wont.

Once this channel becomes more active... it would be kinda cool for people to observe scrims. Basically if your new to the game or never scene a competitive match played and wanna learn more. Join the channel, find someone looking for a scrim and ask them if you can observe there game. This would be nice for skilled players as well, sometimes it's good to step back from the game and watch rather than be in it all the time.

Update:

Not a bad turn out so far. This is only the 2nd day and we seem to have a decent amount of activity.

I would really like to see some support from leagues like HoN League (http://honleague.com/) and HCE (http://www.hce-gaming.com/forum.php). If anyone has contact with other communities like Australia, Philippines, Russia, ect spread the word to them as well.

I started making a list of teams that support this channel to help inspire other teams to join up. However, I realized that this list could also be useful in determining how many competitive teams are floating around in HoN. Maybe by doing this we will all realize there are a lot more teams around than we thought and the only problem was finding a way to communicate with them. I hope this little project solves all of that.

The channel is getting pretty active now. I have scene a lot of new teams in there and also observed some great matches!

I am currently looking for 2 dedicated moderators for the channel.

As for the format, it might be interesting to add wether or not they allow obs for people who are interested in learning more by watching people above their own level play.

Maybe an autoannouncer for channels to announce formats would be nice aswell, plenty of ppl asking for scrim without adding details sometimes which leads to domination ;)

Admittedly this is taken from a sample of one day, in which I did get a couple of matches from a forum post.

Jig I think you should merge #findringer and #findscrim together because I have more luck pm-ing my own list for ringers than the channel itself and more luck spamming in #findscrim for ringers.

I made this suggestion a long time ago but I think it kinda was pushed to the side as it really only pertains to us competitive players. If anyone has an idea on how I can get S2 to notice it that would be great.

As of right now the chat system is still very unstable. So I cannot ban people ect for inviting to stupid games. Our best bet would be to have someone make a mod to block game invites.
