Seriously, its ****ing unbelievable how much downtime hon has. How ****ing hard can it be to run this crap game properly? No ****ing updates to the players, only "uhh *cough* were gonna try to fix this other problem *cough" - then the game is up for 2 hours and you act like extending golden pebbles sale or putting in a 2x coin weekend will solve the unhappiness..

WELL, maybe it WOULD, if the problem stopped there. But **** me, the downtime just keeps coming. There seems to be no end to it, hon cant be up and going for 24 hours straight without you guys having to take it down to fix solve a problem.

At the moment (for me at least) MM games are definately recording, and you can see your mmr in the load for the next game. However, the stats screen, and post game stats, arent working. So basically you do get MMR but you can only see it by joining another game.

Just tried to update my Linux client this morning and the update failed. The login prompt just came up in grey and it didn't close and patch the application.

So I retried and reviewed the console, it seems there were a lot of retries going on for the files required to update HoN. I retried this about 5 times, download speed went from 5k - 200k. Last attempt it couldn't even download the manifest.

So I assume HoN update manager under DOS?

Actually it isn't all that uncommon for server problems to occur. Especially when you need to change your server code and whatnot due to attacks. New code always has bugs and bugs in big systems can be very hard to track if a lot of changes have been made. Also they are doing server transfers which also create issues sometimes. None of this is as simple as anyone wishes it was. I don't even want to go into how long it takes to transfer all the data from one Big server to another. Not to mention they are trying to minimize downtime. Even if they find the bugs they have to figure out what is causing them and how to fix it. Heck in one game I made there was a bug where everything would teleport and finally I found out that the time since last frame would occasionally give back a bad number and it messed up all the movement calculations. It took a few days to get the bug to happen enough so that I could track it down. Btw the bug wasn't with my code it was the stupid graphical library we Had to use. Part of the project.
Anyway Bugs are not simple. Don't treat them like they are. Don't say stop adding new content because I would imagine those systems are Completely separate and have little to no effect on one another. Different programmers for different jobs. Don't say move the coders because just as there are different doctors like Brain specialists there are different coders. Not everyone can do everything. I can't do OS stuff very well at all but I can still make a program that can tell if someone's heart beat is funny so that it can alert someone.

Also in case no one read what they have posted. Agree I myself am a QA Engineer and I know a little about the bugs(I actually work on a huge DataBase based application) bugs are tricky and I they should stop the game for a whole week to work in peace and fix the ****er.

Hon is still bugged for me, i join a game, select a slot and sit and wait and wait and wait and wait, then i realise that the server seems to have frozen me out and im not actually connected to anything...

When the latest patch came up with the cours and all I was like : woah to show us how sorry they feel for all the things that occured they actually sleep even less than they already did cause of the DDOS attacks just so the game can go on without any more delays. And I even thought you didn't have to go that far. Fixing the problem was more than enough since we all know (well not the raging morons obviously) how hard it was for you guys.

But after realising that the problem wasn't completely fixed I was just disappointed to you guys. Instead of completely fixing the gameplay of this AWESOME game, you prefered working on a patch just to have the potentional of making more money. This is VERY - let me say this again - VERY disappointing. Icefrog didn't take any credit for himself, why would he even keep euls & aghanims not to mention guinsoo's scepter in the game if he wanted all the credit? Also if icefrog wasn't there to take on the project of dota 2 it would most likely not even exist. Not to mention the progress and balance he did in DotA.

Also have to mention how amazing he is, keeping up will all the pressure from the community, bearly anyone hates him. It's hard today to not be hated, look att blizz, or (haha) S2.

S2 is also really slow with making their announcements. If the servers go apeshit they should respond officially in the either in-game news section or on the first page on this site. Really frustrating being re-directed to a IRC channel or to having to find 20 screenshots on chats with devs. Not to mention all the forum threads about similar problems. It's all a huge mess.

Login is down again. In other threads though, S2 claims they "are not seeing this problem" and "must wait until they see the issue to fix the issue". S2, before you decided to become a company and design a game, maybe you should have thought it through first. With all of these down time and not being able to actually play, refunds should be open to everyone who does not want to deal any longer with this, you can't take peoples' money and not provide the service promised. I smell class action lawsuit, and no direct response to this.

the last 3 days... omg.... playing a lot of mmr games and guess what ? stat were recorded only when losing a game not when winning, so basically from 1675 i got to 1610 in 3 days because of broken stats recorder thingy programe or whatever the fudge they use, no current information on whats going on, no apologies no free stuff even from the ddos attack days, very bad situation, we can clearly see that the company is been run by a guy(maliken) who has a restaurant buissnes and no clue whatsoever on how video game services work....

While I'm in the same boat as you, you have to understand, they went through a serious DDoS attack. It takes companies 2-3 weeks to deal with these problems and this is the final step before HoN is back to normal. Not S2's job and they did a pretty good job responding to the attack. Go read a book or something.

Incorrect, One of the solutions for the attack early on wouldve been to add a refresh timer, preventing people from refreshing and doing other activities over and over.

S2 does have some mighty problems at hand, and all which take time to fix, that on-top of switching to a new architecture is a mighty task. Read this post. He is 90% correct. Only thing S2 should do differently is too keep all the players posted more frequently on the progress. 1 guy every 4 hours or so saying, "so sorry, we appreciate you all, but are currently doing [this] to solve the problem."

Inability to maintain the servers should have been handled long before the game was retail. The initial fast money grab has turned into S2 paying developers to produce gold coin only skins during a period of several weeks of intermittent playing ability. That is just sickening.

Agreed. Regardless, customers will inevitably be upset that services for which their payment was rendered are no longer available for use at their discretion. "Cutting s2 slack" will not bring back quality gameplay with secure servers any faster than raging will, so some people will simply vent their frustrations at the company for failing to defend itself from these crippling attacks and hardware failures. Some people have spent a LOT more than $30 (tools though they may be) thus their rage is far more justified than the more reasonable people that didn't waste money on gold coins. However, the company's relative size does not change the fact that our current gameplay experience is not congruous with what we were initially led to believe.

It's happened 4 times in the past few days. S2 can't even keep an online game as small as HoN in working order. Yea I has small lag spiked the other night but think it was a mix of things both there end and mine. Yes it would seem everything but the stats are working now. Its still recording the stats so you can see your mmr go up and down. But you wont be able to see the games you played till they get that all caught up.

Guys, we all have the right to complain, I haven't played in a couple of weeks either, but flaming and inappropriate behaviour not only lead nowhere, but they also strip the flamer of any justice his words may hold. Come on, noone's gonna go to court, noone's gonna leave for LoL, MAYBE some will migrate to DOTA 2 when it's out, but only if that was their initial intention. Yeah, not even mentioning the costs involved. Your legal costs would be running into the 10's of thousands for dollars and they want to sue for $30 per account.

BTW, I just paid $49 for Duke Nukem Forever, finished it in 6 hours and now it is done. In the mean time I've played HoN since Beta for $30 :P

Anyways, alot of my friends are starting to play League of Legends, too bad they have a ****ing server cap and only allow a max amount of players on at a time.

But i'm getting pretty annoyed with dropping 100 MMR, and gaining nothing half the games I play. One shitty ass community of grievers, and not being able to kick or leave games, wasting hours of my time, adding more and more characters with tons of inbalance in the game. No custom or different maps. Oh and the down time/broken stats.

S2 I love you very much, and think you have pulled off an amazing game, with great staff, one of my favorite companys thus far out of many games I have played, but please get you're **** together, thanks!

There's around avg of 30,000 people playing per day, whats 30,000 x 30 bucks! think about it, its not a small amount. Now, lets include money spent on the inventory they have in the store. It adds up to an even larger amount. People will spend over 30 dollars to buy alt characters, icons etc.

We work and we pay for this game, parents are paying kids to play this game and paying for their leisure, yet s2 thinks its a joke to fool around with money. They think that adding more items in the store or having a bundle back ( not forgetting it costs money as well) will be all good. Young kids think that lowering the cost of items is fair, but older people who can see through this scam is furious.

Why dont they ever give free stuff out? honestly, they want to remain competitive in this industry they have to put an act together. Do you agree?

When you got home you found out there was some problems with it, the car wont start, so you ring me up and tell me. i said ok ill fix it for free but it took a couple days. Then again a few days later the car breaks down, i say " ok how about this, ill sell you some new visual parts that i got but its going to cost you around the same price as the normal ones, just like a few dollars cheaper".

we have all paid money, some more than others, to play a game. we have paid for 'goods and services' neither of which we seem to be getting, so in ANY OTHER circumstance when a business transaction such as this is made and one end is not living up to this agreement, i believe it is fair to demand a full refund. whether its $5, $20, or thousands of dollars, doesn't matter.

the LEAST S2 could do is provide their customers with regular updates, compensation for downtime, etc. Logically this would be a last ditch effort for any business in order to avoid mass amounts of refund demands.
