Erm no it's hard to prevent at all. S2 not being prepared and not putting the resources needed into protecting themselves doesnt means ddos attacks are hard to prevent, because unless the guy responsible had the biggest most unique botnet out there then there are systems available to prevent it.

I did support S2 trough the ddos attack ( or atleast I understood that it can happen and they are doing their best to fix it) however this patch and downtime is their fault as far as we know. First they have a bunch of delays only to bring the game up again with a broken store that lets you buy things without giving you anything for the coins and now the server refuse to validate my account so the game is down again. Having this happen so close to the ddos attack is testing alot of peoples patience.

I'm pretty sure they've implemented a change that will cause all servers to keep trying to report stats from a game to the main server, and this is also backwards compatible. Can't find the exact post at the moment, but give it a couple of days, and you will suddenly get alot more coins, and different stats all over as a result of all the games that didn't record during the DDoS and such.

I haven't seen too many people get booted from games after they have started because of any of these issues, so I really doubt that's how you got up to 21%....no way in hell. Not if you were in the acceptable 5% and lower. Which is still too high.

Every multiplayer game has it's scheduled downtime for patching. Evey game has it's problems. I used to play WoW a long time ago, though they never dissapointed me, not even when my account got hacked. They fixed my account in 3 days. From now on, when you decide to be the good guy that supports a product that you can't run , try to reply with good arguments. I'm just saying that they should prioritize the stability of the game, not the content. The game makes us happy, not the content that we can't acces. I've never complained about the DDoS attack, because it can happen to every big company. Anyway please use statistics from now on and stop saying that every game had this stability issues.

Well if you ignore your customers, it means that you don't respect them. And if you don't respect them they leave the community. Because no one wants to be ignored. Look, I have lots of patience, but I think to keep a server as they should have a power generator or anything else to avoid damage such as these. We pay (at least I paid for) and costly in this regard and in the days when I play the game is down for maintenance ... I apologize but I feel aggrieved that!

yeah im pretty sure they spend alot of money for Portal 2 but, go ask SKIDROW what happend to the multiplayer (If u even know what im talking about) So, portal isnt so cheap or maybe for some is, look at blizzard, they have more money than S2 for sure, and Ubisoft, for sure, and still lagging a lot in D3 release date for whatever reason u want, maybe its not the money, but come on... TWO beers for TWO years of a game dipped in love and sex and maybe some honey. How is it possible to whine now without feeling like a complete moron? I must ask. If you bought the game days prior to the issues HoN has had lately, i might understand your frustration. But this game is made out of love, easily seen by how much it costs vs how much it can be enjoyed. And just look at the god damned heroes! They have personality for cryin' out loud. If they made this game to earn money, it wouldve been a monthly fee. And no, i dont expect S2Games to have time to read this, so its not an attempt of asskissing, its more of an eyeopener for the frustrated masses out there.

TWO beers for TWO years of a game dipped in love and sex and maybe some honey. How is it possible to whine now without feeling like a complete moron? I must ask. If you bought the game days prior to the issues HoN has had lately, i might understand your frustration. But this game is made out of love, easily seen by how much it costs vs how much it can be enjoyed. And just look at the god damned heroes! They have personality for cryin' out loud. If they made this game to earn money, it wouldve been a monthly fee. And no, i dont expect S2Games to have time to read this, so its not an attempt of asskissing, its more of an eyeopener for the frustrated masses out there.

because its not the 30$ bucks that im asking for, its the expectation and unsolve frustration of being unable to do what I planned on doing tonight (and yesterday, and last week, etc). and the only way to not get angry with that is to forget it and move on..

Yeah, I agree with Rudix. If you're a new player, sorry, but $30 for a game I've clocked over 400 hours on (and will continue to play) is great. It sucks that the servers are down, but being attacked is beyond S2's control. People whining need to go outside or some ****.

Play LoL, League of Legends is more greedy and money demanding than HoN is. Rudix is right, I have been playing this game since closed beta, ignore the account not having gold created new account.

I am upset at the down time but its not gonna keep me away from this game nor stop me from playing it.

League of Legends nickles and dimes its client base for not only appearance items but for the core heroes of the game. Either grind for weeks or pay for them, I bet the average LoL player has spent more in riot points than the $30 I spent on HoN.

Let us make our own rage/opinion thread and keep the flame to the south while they fight their own problems elsewhere and update us on the situation.
