View Full Version : Don't Deselect

I found it really annoying when you click on an enemy unit on the map and just when you are trying to check out its items and stats he runs into the fog and all the information just disappears and gets replaced by basic buttons that you have already assigned to hotkeys.
This mod will hopefully keep the info on the screen until you select another unit.

What it causes:

- You wont have the attack and movement commands displayed in the bottom right corner.
- This does not keep refreshing the info once the selected unit is in the fog but it will keep it on your screen (pause it in its last state you clicked on it) so you can analyse it.
- It edits the ui/game.interface file.

Download - mod number 056:

http://www.mediafire.com/?amkizzdgmmy - honmod file - version 1.0

(http://www.mediafire.com/?gi1l5gj3in5)http://www.mediafire.com/?gi1l5gj3in5 -honmod file - version 1.1
-should be compatible with tiny ui

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W14PPCS1 - honmod file - version 1.3
-thanks to Ignorance the white boxes in the beginning have been fixed
-now green bars will appear next to the selection if it has expired (doesn't update anymore)

http://www.mediafire.com/?jqutiknztzn - s2z file

Note:

This is my first mod and just put it together in a few minutes so if anyone has any suggestion/better solution I will appreciate it since this might have bugs.

is this legal ? :P

Yes. Basically instead of it refreshing what you have selected it just pauses it. Whether he changed it pause only when they go under fog or if it's permanently paused, I don't know. So you may be able to have someone selected and see them pick up items and stuff or you may only see what they have when you selected them and it never updates the values. Too lazy to look at what he did.

Legal, just as any other mod. And as I said in the first post it does not refresh it pauses, refresh would be impossible since you don't receive data from the server while they are in fog.

I suggest you request a number in the repository for this. I'll add it to the honmod repo once you claim a number.

10-03-2009, 06:52 PM
Does it refresh what they have when they get back into view?
That would be nice, for example you have your lane opponent selected, he goes back to buy marchers and then when he appears back on your map, it could update his inventory?

Is that possible or legal? :x

I don't think this is possible because the user interface doesn't receive data of that kind. Also for this to work, this mod would have to reselect the hero to refresh the data and that wouldn't be fair I think.

Thx for the feedback.

please add screenshots.

it's the most effective way to understand what a mod does and see it

- It edits the ui/game.interface file.

then removing the honmod file or disabling it wouldn't return it to normal?
a way to revert things to normal should be a goal for every mod.

It's for the s2z version. Two s2z mods cannot edit the same file so it is important to list what files receive changes.

The only way multiple s2z mods that edit the same file can work together is if they are manually combined.

The HoN Mod Manager is a program to automate the combining process.

Not really, since nothing is updated unless you actually have the enemy selected. Think of it as a snapshot of the enemy's current state when you deselected them, so, items, health, all that just stay the same until you select them again. Mainly useful for seeing an enemy's items when they run into the fog.

It would be nice to be able to use this with Tiny UI... not sure who I should report the error to but the two can not be combined with honmodmanager

Please don't change the name of the mod. I rather have them overwrite each other than have multiple copies of the same mod in the manager.

i think modes should just help you to play easier but not give u a clear advantage!

How exactly does it give a clear advantage, it doesn't refresh the info.

Dude, this mod is fair. Nothing else to say.

Zaraki

It does give a slight advantage. Without the mod, you have to make sure you look at their inventory and stats before they disappear into fog. Requires your to be quicker, as well as do it while they are in your lane. With this mod, you can check what they had before they went into the fog for as long as you do not change targets. I wouldn't say this gives a huge advantage, but it definitly does give an advantage. With that said, S2 has not disabled it yet, so I'm gonna use it for now.

Hey, I updated this mod to remove the loading issue (no more empty white boxes on loading).
http://www.mediafire.com/?qentyo32o3q
I tested it with Tiny UI and they seem compatible, but of course, it's hard to tell unless someone gets an error. It uses the original file name, not 1.1, but it has all the same info as 1.1 I just changed some of the code.

After further testing, it seems that the white background will appear if the interface file 'game' is reloaded. This isn't much of an issue. I'd be able to fix it if I knew how to dump strings automatically on a reload, but I do not.

I've made a version in which the screen will properly reset when game.interface is reloaded. No more white frames. Ever. :D

Yay!

I had an idea... How about an on/off symbol or something that shows if the mod is tracking a unit or not? That way I can know if the information I'm seeing is up to date or not.

oh thanks. so it was from this mod that the white squares were coming from. +1 to max's idea. the lower right box area could get a glowing border or something

looks very nice, but please let me know when you update it to allow you to click yourself to regain the skills, i dont want to be with out quick clicking the building shield :)

edit: i have a better idea, how about make a Crlt+ or Alt+ or just any specific key (doesnt matter what) to deselect, this also would help with refreshing :)

You should probably ask the developers of MiniUI in their thread. I don't believe Shirokko is still developing this mod.

For some reason this mod doesn't work for me. It can be enabled through ModManager, but once in-game the enemy inventory disappears as usual once they enter fog. Is it not compatible with MiniUI?
