I am going to write this in the nicest way possible, as i don't wish for this to be brushed off as a "non-constructive complaint"
I am currently a studying through my PhD in computer science (network defence orientated) whilst working for a major social networking site.
We suffered a major hack roughly a year ago, the main thing that kept all our clients by our sides is communication. They knew we were working on it and had faith that we had it under control.
Your client base seems to have lost a certain amount of faith in you. There are even rumours spreading about a class action due to lack of service of which said people have paid for.
You can blame it on a NoCs Failure, I know they happen.. But at the same time, you can't go round broadcasting how you've had no downtime for a year, yet as soon as this DDoS attack happens.. MAGICALLY A NoCs FAILS TOO? I call bullshit on some degree, If you wish to say this NoCs failed for a cause that may have arose due to the attack, sure by all means go ahead.
But something doesn't sit right with me that this magically and coincidentally happened on its own.
You keep making updates saying it won't be long, mm is up, mm is down. Just do yourselves a favour. Take the entire game down for 2-3 days and get everything sorted in one hit.
You may be able to fob off the average nobody, but you don't fool a lot of us.
Your game is not secure.
Your game and database needs to be secure.
And to be honest, until you can keep these mere things under control. You shouldn't even have it online.
You have affected peoples stats - some of which training for tournaments etc, you have wasted peoples time and we want answers. So by all means chuck this in your non-constructive complaints. But also, read what i'm saying and what a ****load of us are feeling.
The incompetency of your networking and security team is massive. I'm sorry to say it but it's true. Just by mere investigating on my behalf for roughly 20 minutes on a LAPTOP. I can see ever so many gaping holes. All of which I have enough respect not to exploit or release. But as you have seen not everyone will show you the same courtesy.
I will happily write that in the open also, due to the fact that i EMAILED your support team 4 months ago listing a lot of them. None of them were fixed and i'm guessing my email ended up in a spam folder.
TL;DR
Fix your games security (or lack there of)
Communicate with your clients
and lastly, don't put this in non constructive, I have dropped numerous hints as to what you need to do... and this is no personal attack on S2 games, or any staff member of said company.
Sincerely,
Patrick
