I mean, if we can't play them with other people what are maps like Valkyrie Wars for? I enjoyed playing alone for some minutes till I noticed the AI movement patters...

My question is: All these people working hard making new original maps are working just for when S2 implement custom map playing in HoN? I mean, there is no way to play all these maps with other people?

I think most of the map maker made the maps with the hope that they will be able to play it online at some point.
For now you can only play them alone on a practice server. That is why most projects are stalled or dropped.

At first it was more of a personal challenge for me since the editor wasn't out yet. At some point I thought it would be a good idea to actually finish a map, so that when the online support would come, at least one of my map would be done.

Dunno why people are mapping, S2 said it's on the bottom of the "carelist".

When I see that the top is "fixing servers" and it took 1 month (and still not fixed, another crash today), I just wonder if I could see in my life HoN releasing open servers.

Actually i think i have evey right to demand what was promised when i supported the development of this game.
It's not like i'm demanding something that was never talked about. I'm talking about a feature promoted on the frontpage for nearly two years now. For me this game never was about the actual gameplay, it was about the possibility for custom maps that surpasses every other game until now. This vision has also been quoted many times by S2 devs and i really don't understand why nothing is moving forward in this section. No patches for the alpha quality map editor, not a sign of a system to play these. Not even the possibility to test the Maps with other people...

So, sadly HoN moved in a totally different direction than i expected or wished it to. It's now a decent game with useless visual goodies and a bad community but next to no creativity or possibility.

Yes, i complain, and i probably will go on with it in my one post per 6 months, because this is the only thing i want and need from S2 devs. Instead i get the most useless feature ever, skins and soundeffects... What a shame.

if you really want to know they are using the same old map editor they made for savage 2 and just updated it a little so it will load hon maps fine. They promise a good map editor with savage 2 as well and yet we did not see it. As much as i like s2 they really need to do something about working on the map editor and coming out with an sdk. I honestly believe that a map editor will keep this game a live.

Although I don't like to admit it, every day that passes by I feel I got schemed by this crappy company. According to this post that can be found here:

S2 also promised Savage2 fans a map making tool, but the truth is that Savage2 is now way dead and they never got the map making tool that was promised to them.
Putting it all together, I don't think there will ever be a mapmaking tool for HoN.

As far as I am concerned, Mapmaking in HoN is dead, as well as anything else from S2. Hell, if I want to check on liars with low morale all I need to do is turn on my God Dang TV and watch some politicians... I don't need S2 doing the same crap.

Savage 2: A tortured soul, has a map editor and the community has the ability to create their own mods and share it with other players, the editor was updated several times after the relese of sav2 and its fully functional at the moment. Might I add that the player made content at Sav2 is the only thing that keeps the game still running.

I think S2 did promise to have scripting support like they have in HoN for Savage 2. I remember trying to edit some entity in Savage 2 and it didn't work that well. I later found out on the forum a S2 staff saying that they were going to get that part working "soon".
It never came out in the end for Savage 2, but we did get it for HoN.

As far as I understand form the threads I mention, Sav2 fans got a map making tool, but not the map making tool that was promised. There seems to be a big difference amongst them. As of now, HoN also has a map making tool but it doesn't have the promised map making tool. Big difference there.

This is what I concluded from the posts I mentioned in the context I specified.
