Wildsoul

Is the mighty Wildsoul a Beast who dreamed himself a Man, or a Man who dreamed himself a Beast? As much a bear as a human, this druidic warrior draws upon primordial woodland energies to strengthen himself and crush those who threaten the natural life of Newerth.

Wildsoul is an agility carry who, given the correct team, can dominate mid to late game with his high run speed, excellent attack animation, and brutal pet. You need keen map awareness and competent teammates so that you can maximize your initial jungle time. If you do not pay attention to mia calls or expose yourself to the enemy too soon chances are you will get ganked early and your whole farming plan will unravel.

Analysis
Pros

One of the best junglers from level one
High sustained DPS and move speed
Booboo is a free courier
Late game perma-basher

Cons

Very weak early versus most heroes
Basically just auto attacks
Highly item dependent
Needs lots of uninterrupted time to farm

When to pick Wildsoul
If your team already has a solid tank and two strong solos, preferably one who has some support skills, there may be a place for Wildsoul. You need a main tank to be initiating in group battles and you need two people who can hold their lane for about 30 minutes initially while you farm. Late game you will be much less squishy than most carries, so if your team could use an offtank you will definitely fill that role.

Skills

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/0/0e/Wildsoulskill1.gif/64px-Wildsoulskill1.gif Summon Booboo - Wildsoul summons his pet bear, Booboo with 1400/1800/2300/2700 hit points, 3/4/5/6 armor, and 320/320/330/340 move speed. This spell has a cooldown of 180/160/140/120 seconds.
Booboo gains several abilities as you level this skill:

http://honwiki.net/w/images/d/d9/Boobooskill1.gif Return - Teleports Booboo to Wildsoul's location, Booboo gets this at level 2.
http://honwiki.net/w/images/d/d4/Boobooskill2.gif Tangle Claw - When attacking, Booboo has a 20% chance to root a target in place, preventing movement and attacking and dealing 60 magic damage per second, Booboo gets this at level 3.
http://honwiki.net/w/images/4/43/Boobooskill3.gif Building Breaker - Booboo's massive claws have a demolishing effect on structures, dealing 60% extra damage, Booboo gets this at level 3.
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/c/c3/Boobooskill4.gif/64px-Boobooskill4.gif Spell Resistance - Booboo is inherently resistant to Magic, adding 8.2 Magic Armor, Booboo gets this at level 4.

This is your class defining skill. You get a permanent pet which is your tank when jungling, your disable when ganking, and the best buddy you will have. He gets his own inventory so you have the ability to customize him the same as you would a normal hero however he has no stats so certain items are useless. Another item of note is his move speed. Booboo is always going to be running faster than you, and with my build he is going to be running at max move speed all the time by the end of the game. This is the skill you max out first.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/2/2d/Wildsoulskill2.gif/64px-Wildsoulskill2.gif Wild - Wildsoul drives both himself and Booboo Wild, granting +10/20/30/40 attack speed and +5%/10%/15%/20% movement speed, lasts 10 seconds. This spell has a 30 second cooldown.

Once you have Wild you become a killing machine. With boots you will normally outrun your opponents and, coupled with the attack speed buff, you will be jungling incredibly quickly.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/4/43/Wildsoulskill3.gif/64px-Wildsoulskill3.gif Natural Attunement - Wildsoul attunes himself further to the needs of Nature, adding to the power of his other abilities.

Booboo gets +10/20/30/40 damage and move speed.
Wild lasts 10/20/30/40 seconds longer.
Bear Form gets +100/200/300/400 health.

This passive is awesome. With 2 points in this you can keep wild up all the time so you can haul ass all over the map without a problem. Your bear gets scarier and you become more tanky.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/d/df/Wildsoulskill4.gif/64px-Wildsoulskill4.gif Bear Form - Wildsoul takes the form of a bear, causing him to switch to melee based attacks, have a .1 faster base attack time, and gain +2/4/6 armor and +250/400/600 health. On level 2, grants a Battle Cry sub-skill which grants +40/60 damage and +4/6 armor, last 8 seconds.

Bear Form is a powerful skill however, early game there are more advantages to staying ranged while ganking and you will be jungling much faster if you pick up some stats along the way. We wait to pick this up until later in this build when it really matters.

We use this build so that as soon as we take Wild we can keep it up for the rest of the game. Also in my experience passing on Bear Form early makes for faster jungling and more cash in the long run. Wildsoul is very item dependent so it is important that we minimize down time and constantly kill things.

Items

Starting

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/0/04/Logger%27s_Hatchetitem.gif/120px-Logger%27s_Hatchetitem.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/4/4c/Health_Potionitem.gif/120px-Health_Potionitem.gif For you
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/0/05/Iron_Buckleritem.gif/120px-Iron_Buckleritem.gif For Booboo

This should give you enough staying power in the jungle to last through the first few minutes of the game. You will be jungling with just this until Booboo is about to die the second time, more on that later. The health potion is for you, not your pet and while you may not burn it there are times where it will save your ass.

Early Game
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/0/09/Soulscream_Ringitem.gif/120px-Soulscream_Ringitem.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/8/88/Steambootsitem.gif/120px-Steambootsitem.gif For you
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/1/10/Enhanced_Marchersitem.gif/120px-Enhanced_Marchersitem.gif For Booboo

Building these items in the first ten minutes should not be a problem if you are jungling effectively. Set the Steamboots to agility and go to town. As soon as you have boots, watch for easy towers to hit and enemies that are over extended that you can gank. Scoring a few kills at this stage in the game can really help you get your core items. Steamboots are taken for the higher base run speed on Wildsoul while Enhanced marchers are taken on Booboo so that he can phase through creeps while trying to entangle potential victims.

Mid Game
http://honwiki.net/w/images/7/7b/Thunder_Clawitem.gif ->http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/1/1c/Charged_Hammeritem.gif/120px-Charged_Hammeritem.gif http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/e/ed/Elder_Parasiteitem.gif/120px-Elder_Parasiteitem.gifFor you
Thunder Claw is all you need to absolutely dominate this stage of the game. You can push lanes incredibly fast scoring last hits on virtually the entire wave with a bit of micro. You will run out of creep camps in your jungle. You will gank somebody hard with this before they realize what you have. You should be able to farm Thunder Claw up within the first 20 minutes of the game if all is going well. Once you get Charged Hammer use Static Charge whoever is being focused in team fights. Elder Parasite makes things die faster when activated and beyond a certain point in the game you will need a bit of life leech to stay standing in group fights. With this build when you pop Elder Parasite you will be running at max speed.

Late Game
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/f/fa/Brutalizeritem.gif/120px-Brutalizeritem.gif For you
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/f/fa/Brutalizeritem.gif/120px-Brutalizeritem.gif For Booboo

At this point in the game you can rock basically anybody in a 1v1 with perma stun. If people are caught without their team go dominate them. Unless they have blink you will most likely get them. Once you have a basher pick up Bear Form, the increase proc rate is worth it and the added health is useful when ganking. Having one of these on your bear is a godsend if Devourer or Succubus tries to ult you because you can teleport Booboo to you and have him bash them out of their channeling.

Luxury
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/2/2d/Mock_of_Brillianceitem.gif/120px-Mock_of_Brillianceitem.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/a/a4/Shrunken_Headitem.gif/120px-Shrunken_Headitem.gif For you
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/f/f4/Helm_of_the_Black_Legionitem.gif/120px-Helm_of_the_Black_Legionitem.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/1/15/Daemonic_Breast_Plateitem.gif/120px-Daemonic_Breast_Plateitem.gif For Booboo

Depending on how exactly the game is playing out, it may be in your team's interest to get Mock of Brilliance which turns you into an incredible pusher. If you go Mock get it early and use it while it is effective, the later in the game you get the less of an impact it has in battles. If you find yourself with enough money don't be afraid of giving Booboo a Helm of the Black Legion. A beefy pet means you don't have to send him back to the fountain. You can also further augment Booboo by getting a Daemonic Breast Plate, but like Mock make sure you communicate that you are going for it as you only need one player on the team to build one. Giving Booboo some armor really helps if he is being focused down and the attack speed is icing on the cake. Finally, if you are seriously having problems getting stunned or nuked just get a Shrunken Head. You will then have free roam to beat people to death for a window.

Other Items of Note
http://honwiki.net/w/images/c/c5/Nullfire_Bladeitem.gif For any open slot(s)

Jereziah can be a whore in the right hands, don't let him stop you from finishing your target. If you actively purge you can shut him down. Some heroes, like Hammerstorm, are only a threat when they have an ample mana pool. Recognize this early and build accordingly, burn their mana in group fights and you will leave them crippled. It is also possible to put one on Wildsoul and one on Booboo, normally you won't have the cash to waste doing this but it makes you become a mana burning, purging machine. Never discount the utility if you need it. This is definitely situational though.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/b/b8/Hack_and_Slashitem.gif/120px-Hack_and_Slashitem.gif Don't get this.

For the cost of Hack and Slash you could already have anything else... You don't need more run speed because you should already be able to hit max move speed if you need to. You should be shutting people down with stuns, reducing their move speed is redundant and unnecessary. The stat gains are nothing spectacular. You just don't need this item.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/e/ea/Abyssal_Skullitem.gif/120px-Abyssal_Skullitem.gif Most likely Booboo

Abyssal Skull is not a bad item to pick up late game to help beef up Booboo and give you even more life leech.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/d/d6/Alchemist%27s_Bonesitem.gif/120px-Alchemist%27s_Bonesitem.gif Probably not for you.

Alchemist's Bones always seem like a waste to me. If you can afford this you can afford your Parasite. It is probably better for you to use that to gank rather than be trying to transmute a creep every cooldown. The attack speed increase seems unnecessary as you should be able to be going at light speed with your high agility and Charged Hammer.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/4/44/Wingbowitem.gif/120px-Wingbowitem.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/1/1a/Flayeritem.gif/120px-Flayeritem.gif For you

Wingbow and Flayer both give you huge damage. If you have a chance to get one of these don't hesitate. If you aren't facing heavy auto-attack oriented enemies Flayer is the better choice.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/0/0b/Bound_Eyeitem.gif/120px-Bound_Eyeitem.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/b/b1/Ward_of_Sightitem.gif/120px-Ward_of_Sightitem.gif For you

If nobody has warded the rune near your jungle just do it. Knowing when the enemy is coming looking for you is very important. If you can back off, take a trip to the fountain and play defensively you can make the opposing team waste time looking for you and gain the advantage in a counter attack. Late game don't be afraid to buy an eye if you are facing a mean stealthed carry. You have to be able to take them 1 on 1 if they try to gank while you are pushing lanes.

Best Buddies

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/0/0b/Scouthero.gif/120px-Scouthero.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/a/a1/Keeper_of_the_Foresthero.gif/120px-Keeper_of_the_Foresthero.gif

Keeper of the Forest and Scout both provide you with free wards to watch your back as well as potent additional disables that help you close on your intended target. Enough said.

Worst Enemies

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/8/89/Puppet_Masterhero.gif/120px-Puppet_Masterhero.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/2/2d/Pollywog_Priesthero.gif/120px-Pollywog_Priesthero.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/f/fa/Stormspirititem.gif/120px-Stormspirititem.gifhttp://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/2/22/Totem_of_Kuldraitem.gif/120px-Totem_of_Kuldraitem.gif

Non-channeled crowd control can be a nightmare. If the enemy wizes up to what you are doing you can have serious issues. Your bear being trapped in a cyclone means that you have diminished DPS and stun time and you may not be able to finish off your enemies. You will have to get a shrunken head and use it while group fights are being initiated or suffer the consequences. As a last resort get a Nullfire Blade, purging may well save your ass. It is important to know what the enemies are building and get counter items if you want to win.

Play by Play

Early Game
Before the game starts you need to communicate with your team. They need to know you will jungle from level 1 and choose lanes accordingly. You want solos in mid lane and on your jungle side because those are the easiest lanes for you to cover. Summon Booboo as soon as you get into your game to get the timer ticking so you can resummon A.S.A.P. Hotkey Wildsoul and Booboo however it makes sense to you. Personally, I use F1 for just Wildsoul 1 as both and 2 as just Booboo. Now that you have yourself setup, get moving to the rune closest to your jungle. If it spawns and is Double Damage or Illusion, camp it and take around the 25 second mark and hit the jungle. If it is anything else and there is somebody on your team with a bottle tell them and let them have it. At 30 seconds you should be killing the easy camp piece of cake. Go check what the hard camp has in it, if the are catmen just move on. They beat the hell out of your bear too much at level 1 and its not worth it. Next move to the medium strength camps. Watch the clock, if you are near 23 or 53 seconds try to double stack the camp you are at. This may be a good time to creep pull depending on what is going on in the lanes, but be sure to announce what you are doing so you don't screw anybody over. Kill the easy camp every time it is up to preserve Booboo as long as you can. At 2 minutes if the runes are not warded be sure to check. A regen on your bear is always convenient. After the first few minutes of the game you will find that Booboo is about to die and you cannot bring him immediately back to life. Send him to the fountain to pick up your goods and heal. Take this time to double stack a camp or creep pull. Now your bear is back and you probably either have 2 Soulscream rings or Steamboots (agi) if you have been particularly efficient. Pass the loot to Wildsoul and keep moving. Like the goblins say, "Time is money, friend." By this point you will be able to dominate the jungle relentlessly. Focus on opportunities to stack and creep pull to help push the gap between your level and your opponents. If you stay on top of your game you should easily outlevel any non-solo enemy laners. After you farm your boots you should be able to assist in ganks effectively so if your team needs you go. If you pay attention to timing you may be able to stack ancients while moving around the map which can land you a nice wad of cash. It is about time to think about getting your first weapon. If there is a solid disable when you are going to gank get Elder Parasite first. Blowing this on a disabled opponent early in the game will normally guarantee you a kill. Otherwise just get Thunder Claw it is still potent but will help your farm tons.
