I'm coming from LOL-- and there are some differences. The shop, however, is very confusing. Basically i have two questions...
1) How can i sell back things to the shop? Or can I?
2) I bought the 'recommended' items and ended up with a bunch of cluttered 'stuff' in inventory. yes, I know there are two shops, but visiting the secret shop didn't get the final item. Basically I had loads of cash, a full inventory and stash and not a single final item.
How's that for a true noob? Any advice? Seems like the normal advice is too intermediate LOL.
Seriously, confused buying items. Hardest part I found to start this game.
Thanks a ton-- be patient-- but i think i can handle the flames. Point to an utter noob guide if you must.

1) As long as there's an icon that looks like a bag of gold on an item (single item that hasn't been made of two or more pieces) you can hold Ctrl+Shift and Right Click it to sell it back for full price. But if it's an item made of multiple components, once it's assembled, it can only be sold for 1/2 the total amount of cost.
2) I think you just didn't put the right combination of items together. Items will automatically assemble themselves, so long as you have the right components.
Also, maybe you should try using the older version of the shop. Coming from LoL you might find the current itteration of the shop just fine, but I personally feel that the older version was easier to navigate from the get to. Hold Ctrl and hit F8. in the console type "cg_usenewshop2 false/true". False will enable the older version, True will bring back the LoL style.

Hey thanks for the advice. All i know is i had 9k of gold and couldn't combine an item that was 3800 gold. Felt like a total moron. And all my item spots were taken.
Read the guide in my signature, should cover you for everything.

Thanks you yyr... yeah, you're post helps a ton-- so thanks again.
Re: the noob friendly shop. Yeah, well I didn't play Warcraft 3 or Dota so this is confusing. I'm also not a 'young' gamer-- being in my 30's. What I do think, is that the untapped market for this kind of game is immense. I don't think there are a lot of people that have experienced this kind of game (speaking as someone 'hooked' on LoL). I'm left with these impressions-- as this game type goes more mainstream-- certain things such as multiple shops etc might go to the wayside. Hopefully, however, more of the more meaningful strategy (or what I think is meaningful) will hopefully remain. These types of games should require a lot of study to understand heroes and there items which takes quite a long time. That's what keeps me interested at least.
To give you an example-- I never played Ultima online-- but played Everquest and thought that was an idea that would eventually be the next 'big' thing. It did with WoW-- but personally I don't like the newer 'easy' mode reiteration that is immensely popular with the general population.
Anyways, thanks for all the responses-- I appreciate the help. In this game, I know I'll need it.
