I don't know about a lot of other players, but I live in a dorm with a fast connection, but a bit unstable due to the amount of users using the one connection.
Therefore, no matter how fast my internet is, people download/upload/stream, etc. and cause a hiccup in my internet. No matter how slight it is, it ruins my gameplay for HoN.
I was just wondering, if HoN can change its setup on how lag works? Compared to other RTS games, HoN's system relies on consistent connection, where if you have a hiccup in your internet (packet loss), you will get an annoying disconnect sign to the left of your screen and cause your hero to be uncontrollable. In my case, living in a dorm, this happens so freakin often that My hero charges into 5 heroes and dies and costs my team to lose the damn game. I'm pretty sure this happens to other people and it is frustrating.
I don't have a specific solution, but games like Starcraft 2, Warcraft 3, my connection here is PERFECTLY fine, because if I have a slight hiccup in my connection, these games aren't as sensitive compared to HoN's UI. What I am saying is that, to put it blunty, HoN's system isn't that great. I have that stupid white disconnect sign to the left every 30 seconds or so for a little bit, even though my MS is at 40. A slight packet loss, which is negligible for most RTS games, causes an impact in HoN because of the way it works. If a person lags, only that person is affected while the others are not. This isn't efficient and causes many problems such as the one I listed earlier as me running into 5 heroes and costing the game for my team.
I'm just saying. I'm pretty sure many college students and/or people who share their internet connection with others have similar problems.
I am just saying my piece of mind, I do not know exactly why HoN's internet play causes me to have those white disconnect symbols to the left, but I did notice that it is ONLY HoN and I also noticed that HoN is one of the few rts games where if one person lags, it does not affect anyone else. I know some people would be against what I am saying, but a few of these little hiccups and packet losses can cost games within a matter of seconds.
Thank you.
